  • This was Sacramento's only playoff appearance in the blue jersey era.

  • "The Madhouse on Market Street"... I sat on my Dad's lap and watched games at ARCO 1 when I was 2 years old. Recently, I took my 2 year old son to ARCO 2 and he sat on my lap, just as I once did with my dad. My dad, sat next to us, and you could see in his eyes it brought back some good memories!

  • Always loved those kings unis with the name under the number

  • Nice! Tom Curran and Lucious Allen with the call! I miss Arco I.

  • Good to see the original Arco Arena. Reminds me of going to see the Kings as a kid ...

  • Kind of rare to see naming rights on arenas back in the 80s. Now there are only a handful that don't.

  • This is great, thanks for posting this!

  • I would like to see a 1973 KC Omaha game with Nate Archibal averaging 34 oints and 11 assists, that was the best era of the Kings.

  • How long were the Kings on KOVR? I know they eventually moved to KTXL, and then later to Channel 31 (KRBK/KPWB/KMAX).

  • AFAIK, the Kings were never on KTXL. They were on KOVR from 85-88 and moved to KRBK (KMAX) in 88. They moved to KXTV from KMAX.

I think prior to the Kings moving to Sacramento, the Golden State Warriors may have been on KTXL in the late 70s/early 80s.

  • @manhizzy Warriors were on 31 right before the Kings arrived.

  • i don't know but they've been on news 10 for the last few years

  • Wow that's some nice footage. That was a good series. Kings also played the lakers in 84 1st rd lost 3-0.

  • That must have been when the Kings were in Kansas City.

  • You think Webber would have run circles around that 1986 team?

Also, what was the score of this game? I know Houston won the game, but what was the score?

  • I always wondered what the original ARCO Arena looked like.

  • The old ARCO is still there. It is now a office building.

  • tom curran is the announcer here

  • Tom Curran is currently suffering from Parkinson's Disease. Sad. But he is still on television, in Tampa, Florida.

  • the warm up jackets are cold.

  • the kings made the playoffs in the 80s? omg. i didnt even know this shit happened! they said the kings had 13 straight losing seasons from 1985-1998 so i assumed they went all the way till 1999 without making the playoffs.

  • yeah they made the playoffs their 1st yr n sac 1985-86 & in 1996. rattle seattle baby

  • I wish someone could find those old Kings on KOVR promos, they were funny.. =D "Watch the Kings.. block out the Suns."

  • 'watch the kings whip kareem'...'watch the kings cage the bird'...

some of my favorite kovr 13 promos back in the day!

  • @PortPowerKS You think that's funny? You should have seen the Rockets' local stuff back then. The studio host on channel 20 (independent station) at the time was Hannah Storm...yes, THAT Hannah Storm...with blonde frizzy hair. Picture that if you can. :)

  • WOW! GREAT!

  • Nice post!
