I don't understand why anyone would listen to this if not a fan, OR HOW one could not become such after listening. ? ~Arguably (M.S. perhaps beside) THE MOST INFLUENTIAL HOMO GENT SINGER/SONGWRITER OF OUR TIME.)
This song hits me so deep. I LOVE Jeff. If you like this song, you should check out 'Fragile Bones(Feels Like Home) by Ali Murray. It's so sad yet achingly beautiful.
Such a feeling of heaviness cmes over me when I see, read or hear anything by or about Jeff Buckley. I wish the joy I felt at "finding" him, and enjoying him on CD and on stage in the '90s would overtake the dark, heavy one ... but the cruel fact that he was taken from us is something that, for me, is always there. Like many, I believe his presence -though so brief- was truly a gift to us and our spirit.
This recording is very... eerie. Has a way of creeping me out. But I can't stop listening. Jeff Buckley was so talented and had such an incredible voice.
People who go through 3 stages of tears when they discover Jeff Buckley 1) Crying upon first listening to this angel 2)Crying upon finding out he died so young 3) Crying from then on because they're rejoicing over the music and the fact that God even gave the world Jeff Buckley in the first place even if it was only for a short time
This is so beautiful. People this kind of talent comes along once in a life time. The music industry has lost a precious jewel. I'm just happy that I was able to hear this kind of beauty in my life. Thank you jeff for leaving such beautiful art for us to listen to
i was watching a movie on television today and it was called "A Life Interrupted" and there is a cover of this song sung by patrick watson. Its absolutely incredible. If anyone has any information on where i can get an mp3 or even hear it again please let me know asap. I absolutely must hear this song again.
Jeff's eclectasism from obscure songs like it's over (the smiths) that know one really knew to popular songs, like dylan and zepplin to his own material like (everybody here wants you). Aria's like Dido's lament. What I'm getting @ is just about every song Jeff did was like friggin God or something singing those songs. CCC is a perfect example.
If You like Hes voice-then listen to Maxwell..Iv never knew this artist before, all I know He died young..so I asume that Maxwell was after Hem-and He prabobly copie Hes style a little..Listen to Maxwell-You will love Hes voice to-and hes still alive! :)
RIP Jeff.........voice of an angel.......tragically taken from us so young and at the peak of his powers. Never to be forgotten....he lives on through his magical music and his sublime voice which makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.......
And of course it has a lullaby element, which is the epitome of pure music without intellect, that is also a theme that Buckley loved. Mostly it is great that he plucked this from obscurity and gave it to average people like me.
The most eerie part is: By His bedside standeth a stone / Corpus Christi written thereon
It took me many years to even pay attention to that, but then I realize, it is the body of Christ, and he's the knight who bled for man's sin, before being borne away by the Falcon, which is either God or death. It's a surreal song to cover. I think he chose it for its obvious beauty and the fact that it speaks about selfless love and suffering.
Hahaha, poor Chad Kroeger...thats how it goes so many times, the best people, the most genius musicians, are often only with us for a short time. Makes their music that much more of a treasure. This song right here is why Buckley is my favorite vocalist ever.
@NewWaveOldSchool I don't think if Jeff were alive today he'd agree with you. Death is a crime against the human condition; nothing more, nothing less. One day it'll each and every person's time to go :(. Treasuring any work of music, of art, no matter where it or who it comes from, should never be admonished. <3
i think this song can some up the debate on who has the best voice. hallelujah is great everybody hear wants you is sexy, but corpus chrsti carol is straight beautiful
I remember listening to the album Grace and it was time to go to bed, this song was playing and when I reached out to turn the CD player off, I couldn't do it. I had to wait 'til the end of the song.
Great people often die young, while the trash of the world grind on for years, leaving misery and damage behind.I would rather believe there is no God because if there is one he/she/it..has a sick plan
wow... why do all the great people die at such a young age... it's like god can't wait to have such people with him... he is definiately one of the greatest singers of all time off his kind...
