God is upholding nature (Hebrews 1:3). Does evolution (in the sense of single celled organisms to humans account for origins) even qualify as being a science then? Is evolution even logical? The answer is no.
" The only problem with this reasoning is that evolutionists must assume the principle of induction to prove induction which is another logical fallacy called begging the question. They are essentially saying they use induction because it works but that doesn't account for why it works. Induction is actually a biblical principle that evolutionist use then they deny the same Bible that the principle comes from. Christians can account for why induction works because the bible explains that
For the scientific method to work there has to be uniformity in the universe which there is. To a Christian the uniformity comes from the power of God upholding nature. What about all the scientists who believe in evolution? How do they explain the uniformity seen in the universe? Evolutionists claim to use induction (using past experiences to predict future experiences) to show that the universe has underlying uniformity. "Since the past has been uniform then the future should be uniform.
Scientific observation is based on a logical fallacy called affirming the consequent. Affirming the consequent can be expressed in terms of p and q. If p, q. Q, therefore p. For example: If that bird is flying it must have wings. It has wings therefore it is flying. This isn't necessarily true though. A bird can have wings and remain on the ground and some birds have wings that can't fly like the ostrich. How then does the scientific method prove to be successful? The answer is God.
The scientific method has been extremely useful in gathering data for a long time. With this structure of observation scientists can formulate a hypothesis then predict an experimental outcome. Then from the results of the experiment the scientist can conclude whether or not the hypothesis is true or false. How does this prove to be successful? Logically the outcome of the experiment should not be able to determine the validity of the hypothesis but it does.
some theist would say that atheism is depressing, but through watching this video, it gave me hope and happiness by telling me i have one life and i should try to be all that i can be
I don't know about the rest of you, but I tend to base my knowledge of who my mother is on who in my life has reminded me of her recollection of that day most often.
I've found that there's really just the one woman who keeps bitching about that, and it was an emergency c-section because, as I get snipped at, "the *//fetus//* turned sideways"), so you can imagine... the knowledge of who my mom is? I has it.
What would you say to the argument that the same creator made both man and ape and therefore the fact that there is so many similarities is not so astonishing at all. Even if there is only 3% genetic difference I think there is still a world of intellectual difference between us that is a massive difference, off the scales difference.
@ShaneChiswick It's a common tactic - similar design points to single designer. I guess star fish and other radially symmetrical organisms have a different designer. As do fungi and bacteria. Also, is the designer being lazy by reusing a blueprint? And why make it *look* like there is common decent?
Also, 3% difference in DNA does not equate to 3% difference in adult organism. A little reading on embryology illuminates this fact.
@askegg Hi Andrew, what do you mean by this eggsactly?
Also, 3% difference in DNA does not equate to 3% difference in adult organism.
I guess what I am trying to say is there is a world of intellectual difference between man and an ape, even with this 3% dna difference. The gulf is deep. I guess it may as well be 33% difference. Does that make sense?
@ShaneChiswick Well, a star fish looks nothing like an ape or human - did they have a different designer? The argument from similarity suggests they do.
"The gulf is deep. I guess it may as well be 33% difference."
Small difference from generation to generation build into very large differences. It's simple maths really. Once the species has split there is nothing preventing the divergence of species.
@ShaneChiswick: "there is a world of intellectual difference between man and an ape" - I would not be so sure of that. Seems Chimps are better at some mental tasks than humans are. The gulf is neither so deep nor so divisive.
@ShaneChiswick It was a great plan your god had. NASA has found that amino acids abound in meteorites, so we know how the building blocks for proteins and DNA came here. They have also found now that all the water on the planet has come from meteorites too, so much and so early that there were oceans on Earth 4.28 billion years ago already. We'll probably soon know the whole basic chain of events that led to life evolving on Earth, and thanks to "The Bible" we also know it was for Jesus' sake.:)
@winterstellar I am interested in learning the truth regardless of what the implications are concerning Christianity. I doubt many Christians would be that open minded. What do you make of the Christian theistic evolution position?
@winterstellar Now the problem I have with evolution and Christianity is that it definitely implies That God wanted pain, suffering, time, chance, trial and error for man to arrive. Having said that, it is hard to deny evidence for evolution. There is also the little problem of tsunami's, earthquakes, cancer, bad backs, floods, droughts, bad eye sight, all on account of sin, that is a huge problem for me.
@ShaneChiswick Theistic evolution is bankrupt. No matter what happens the theist can claim "it was god's will". How could such a position be falsified?
@ShaneChiswick The intellectual difference in man and Chimp has more to do with brain development than "amount of genetic difference". Regulatory genes control how genes fire during development, so just a chance in a regulatory gene is all that is necessary for a difference in brain development. There is a definite difference in intellectual levels of that of a chimp and a human, but not all humans are smarter than chimps all the same, and these are often caused by genetic mistakes.
@fourtrees44 hmmm interesting. I always wondered why brains the same size do not equate to equal intelligence. Then again man has the hardware to physicaly talk, where as apes and chimps do not right? So even if they could be your phone a friend on 'Who wants to be a millionaire,' they would have to do a Hawkings. I guess parrots can talk, this is confusing.
@ShaneChiswick Well their brains are not the same size as ours, about half the size. But size of brain doesn't necessarily mean smarter, brain connections, which parts of the brain are larger play factors too. Speech is partially due to the shape of the trachea and there are portions of our brain which interpret speech and coordinate speech as well. We are very close to our chimpanzee and bonobo cousins, there is little we can do that they cannot, just we do better. We have written language.
Excellent presentation, I'm no doctor, but wasn't Eve created by Yahweh by removing one of Adams ribs, this was in the false biblical presumption that women have one less rib than man.
I've also wondered how creationists and thier ilk explain early stone age man?
Excellent video. If anyone disputes the evidence for evolution, then they must also dispute genetic evidence accepted in courts and paternity tests. Also, very good advice at the end!
@DeistPaladin I think many of your videos are brilliant. Have you got a position on a creator who uses evolution, which seems to imply time, chance, trial, error, pain and suffering to get us here. Why not just click your Godly fingers and create.
@ShaneChiswick I don't believe in an omnipotent, omnipresent or omniscient god, for the exact reasons you mention. Evolution doesn't disprove a creator but does disprove an omnipotent one. Then again, the omni- words are prone to paradox inherently, so even without our knowledge of evolution, it would seem unlikely.
@DeistPaladin A not so perfect God, that is interesting. It would be hard for me to believe that he can bring about a Universe and all life and not be omni something. And where did this God come from?
@ShaneChiswick I never use the word "perfect" anyway. At best, it's a relative term. And I'm not as certain as Dawkins or others that God would have to be more complex or omni-anything to get the ball rolling. Simple things can give way to more complex things and it happens all the time. As for where God came from, It could have come to be in the proto-universe, whatever that may have been.
One of the things I marvel at regarding evolution is the progress we've made. Though the machine may have some glitches I'd like to see changed, the trend dovetails nicely with deist philosophy. Even prior to Darwin's discoveries, early deists had the right idea (through observation) that we are "rational animals". We've come so far and I wonder just how much more intelligent we'll become.
Who knows, there may be intelligent life on earth in some future era.
@DeistPaladin Where does deist philsophy get you? You can't be certain about anything can you, as far as I see it. Apart from the fact there is a creator who created stuff and we can learn from that. What about life after death, rewards for good behaviour, eternity with loved ones etc etc. That's the good stuff.
Loved the video and the channel...keep up the great work! There is only one truly evil creation in man's arsenal that limits his future and threatens all other life as well - religion and the placing of man at the rung beneath god (but above all other life). Anyone who honestly believes that man is separate from all other life on Earth is a danger to himself and others and will one day be held accountable not by "god" but by history. It will not be kind to them.
You say my birth certificate with my parents' names on it is good evidence that they're my parents. Bullshit! Were you their when my parents made me? Did you actually see them in the act of creating me? Yeah, didn't think so! ... Okay, what if that video you took is actually my parents scrubbing each other in parts that have to be dealt with at some point. Besides, just look at a birth certificate. It has obvious signs of intelligent design and that's neither of my parents' handwriting!
Evolution is a process best explained in whole books. It's very difficult to make a video that will do it justice. You have done the impossible by making this very good, logical, concise, yet explanatory and educative video about evolution.
I'm not related to my parents-- I'm adopted. So I'll just sit this one out. (I was also the youngest of 4, so there are no pictures of me as a child. The novelty had worn off by that point.)
@AuntieDiluvian The electric chair picture is a still from "The Green Mile". A wonderful movie, but I have always been partial to Stephen King's imagination.
Bacteria aren't animals at all. They're not even in the same Domain as plants, animals, fungi, and protists. Kingdom bacteria is in another domain called Prokarya, along with Kingdom archaea; Because both kingdoms consist of prokaryotic, single-celled creatures. Animals and all other eukaryotic single-celled or multi-cellular life forms are in Domain Eukarya. So they're far more distantly related than just being different kinds of animals.
I asked around one day,Do you know what a species is? What it means ?I only asked 10 or 12 and not one knew the answer .And when I told them they said; is that all it means . It is hopeless. It is utterly hopeless !
Too many have their eyes covered, their ears plugged and their logical minds stuck in a brainwashed fog of woo. These vids can help so many if they just listen and learn. But then, I am a dreamer.
@xxSilverPhinxx Thanks bud, I hope everybody gets the joke. I can just imagine the people who don't get it thinking, "Good point wasdom01. If we evolved from trees...why are there still trees!?" Anyway, my Mum (Mom) was more of a Venus Fly Trap than a tree ;).
@GoblinXXX It took me a few seconds to TWIG to that joke. I'm not sure who you're referring to, but if he has a bit of a bark, he probably needs a good ROOT...[conversation now degenerating into smut, yes].
@wasdom01 Where do these joke STEM from? If you ever find out could you please be a BUD and RING me? Well, the time has come for me to LEAVES you alone, carry on! =o)
@Paxmax Ha! :) It's probably time for me to "make like a TREE and LEAF" (what you should have said :P) too. Or perhaps I should say that "I'm going to take some time out FOR[a]REST". Does that last one count? I say it does, and in the alternate reality that I've constructed for myself - only my opinion matters ;).
@wasdom01 I WOODEN say it was smut, but maybe we'd better just LEAVE this alone and LOG off. Besides, I'm STUMPED trying to come up with more tree puns!
@GoblinXXX Yup, I just scrapped the bottom of the barrel in my reply to Paxmax, so I'll have to conSEED this battle to you. Probably time for us both to walk the PLANK before we become SPLINTERS in each others sides [zzzzzzzzzz....back to sleep].
@wasdom01 well, shiver me TIMBERS, I'm going to use all of them jokes next time I'm TRUNK with my mateys, even though it's mostly BOLE-shizz. Can we get all jokes collected here if we all WOOD CHIP in?
@wasdom01 No your mom didnt "come from a plant" - Every living organism on this planet, has a common ancestor. Natural selection, environment changes, isolation and several different factors drive evolution. So we have a common ancestor with Chimps. This common ancestor had a common ancestor with Gorillas, and again this common ancestor, had a common ancestor with Orangutans... Keep going back - we had a CA with all other vertebrae, and further back with all cell'ed organisms, further - bacteria
@BrianBartholin I think you'll find that the reason my comment has so many thumbs-up is because it was meant as a joke...but thanks for the explanation anyway champ!

talk about faith, some atheists do seem to have more than any Christian... I mean evolution has not been observed yet, many people believe it? ???
gerinja 5 months ago
@gerinja Sorry, that’s a laughably ignorant statement. Go back to school.
askegg 5 months ago
@askegg no, it is not an ignorant statement!
are you then saying that we can observe evolution happening? from one species to another?
Now, you need to ask your science teachers that, because obviously you do not know the facts friend.

@askegg no evidence at all for the existence of God. really?
one of the greatest lie typical atheists say is to repeat "there is no evidence for God"
the truth is that there is evidence for God. All some atheists will do is just deny this evidence over and over without even looking into it.

To other religions this "feature" comes from other gods. Their claims are just as valid as yours.

Rubbish. Evolution deals with the cumulative changes of organisms over time. It says nothing about the underlying uniformity of the cosmos.

DeistPaladin 1 year ago
@DeistPaladin A not so perfect God, that is interesting. It would be hard for me to believe that he can bring about a Universe and all life and not be omni something. And where did this God come from?
ShaneChiswick 1 year ago

DeistPaladin 1 year ago
@DeistPaladin Where does deist philsophy get you? You can't be certain about anything can you, as far as I see it. Apart from the fact there is a creator who created stuff and we can learn from that. What about life after death, rewards for good behaviour, eternity with loved ones etc etc. That's the good stuff.
ShaneChiswick 1 year ago
@ShaneChiswick "What about life after death, rewards for good behaviour, eternity with loved ones etc etc. That's the good stuff."
It may or may not be good. The question is really "Is it true?"

You should have included epigenetics as a cause for evolution.

So they're far more distantly related than just being different kinds of animals.
shrikechan 1 year ago
@shrikechan Agreed. "Distantly related" is the keyword here.

@GoblinXXX It took me a few seconds to TWIG to that joke. I'm not sure who you're referring to, but if he has a bit of a bark, he probably needs a good ROOT...[conversation now degenerating into smut, yes].

@Paxmax Ha! :) It's probably time for me to "make like a TREE and LEAF" (what you should have said :P) too. Or perhaps I should say that "I'm going to take some time out FOR[a]REST". Does that last one count? I say it does, and in the alternate reality that I've constructed for myself - only my opinion matters ;).
wasdom01 1 year ago
@wasdom01 I WOODEN say it was smut, but maybe we'd better just LEAVE this alone and LOG off. Besides, I'm STUMPED trying to come up with more tree puns!

askegg 1 year ago
@wasdom01 No your mom didnt "come from a plant" - Every living organism on this planet, has a common ancestor. Natural selection, environment changes, isolation and several different factors drive evolution. So we have a common ancestor with Chimps. This common ancestor had a common ancestor with Gorillas, and again this common ancestor, had a common ancestor with Orangutans... Keep going back - we had a CA with all other vertebrae, and further back with all cell'ed organisms, further - bacteria
