  • @Kanashto that and you're lower back in general, standing up and trying to touch you toes with straight legs will help. just do it consistently every day, even if just a couple minutes of light stretching.

  • my mind just got blown. I'll try to explain the reason why his abs are like that by saying that if you can "over extend" by doing ab workouts that require more than 90 degrees of movement, maybe you'd get longer/wider abs?

  • @Darkybmy When I do these leg raises I always get lower abs sore so I guess it also works your abs.

  • @Darkybmy lower abs is what it is for and the ones to the side are gonna work your obliques i spelled it wrong but good think i got all you english teachers to correct me. but that is the main target of course it will hit some other muscles those are just the main.

  • @tony22990 Depends on your capability. First try how much you can do. eg. If you can do 10 max, then do about 8 reps and about 5 sets.

  • Lol this isn't a proper ab exercise when the major muscles used in here aren't even the abs but the hip flexors. "but them lower-abs man!" hahaha. Just do reguar crunches with some side bends for the obliques and you'll get crazy abs. That is of course, if you have your diet in check ;)

    Remember, abs are there for spinal flexion, not to move your legs.

  • Question: When you say the rectus abdominis/obliques are only worked when the hips are fully flexed, doesn't that mean that only doing leg raises to parallel is not effective? You would have to go the full way up, like at 0:19, and flex your hips upwards, in order for the abs to work and not just the hip flexors. Am I right?

  • @LittleRedCar10 The rectus abdominis works by decreasing the distance between the sternum and the pelvic bone, but in this exercise, it is worked isometrically. Meaning that by not letting your back arch, they are working.

  • @wompaper Challenge your muscles by doing every time a different routine. Do not repet the same things you did the day before... Do lots and lots of cardio and drink water, LOTS OF WATER! Peace =)

  • @MishkaSky Tnx for the advice man, I`m running every morning... 2 hours a day, doing push ups, pull ups, crunches.. I even bought a swiss ball few months ago to try some different excercises... Eating mosly vegetables and fruits... decreased the carbs to minimum... still no abs showing up under the fats... dunno maybe it`s just a structure... At least I feel better and stronger when working out :)

  • FOR EVERYONE ! , if you got a 6 pack, you can´t transform it to an 8-pack, the abs your born with you will have to live with them for your whole life , so stop ask how to get a 8 pack ! :)

  • @botolfs92 Wrong, I have an "8 pac" outline, but have to tense to really show it up, its a case of seriously hitting the lower abdominal wall, Im doing weighted leg raises, to really define it, and doing lots of vacuums and the plank to strengthen your transversus abdominus muscles, the deepest core muscle, and that will help you tighten you core

  • @pavy415 yes, but u need regular, consistent training to build muscle mass. If you have a 6 day break in between training sessions, all the hard work done is lost. You need to be training at least 3 times a week to keep the muscles building. I'm just trying to help here.

  • When I do these, they really hurt my shoulders (particularly the left one). I'm not sure if it's the deltoid or rotator cuff that hurts. These days, I feel tension just having my arms out and bent at 90 facing down (like a sad cactus...it's the only way I know how to describe it) and rotating up to a "freeze" pose. Any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to fix it (without physio preferably!)

  • I have a question. I work out quite often and i have used some of these techniques to help train my abs. I have been working out for a few years and yet my abs are more circular. Yours are square-ish. If you know what im saying. What's the reasoning behind this? - Different training?, Genetics?

  • It's not like he can control the fact that his abs are uneven. It's genetics, it's all based on where the tendons align.

  • abs exercises are not everything.

    more then anything, you need a good diet low on fat if you wanna end up with a nice 6 pack or 8 if you're lucky, and also drink lots and lots of water.

    The diet counts for about 80% importance

    You can't get a toned mid section if you're stuffing your face with pork and cake, no matter how much you workout

    You can pretty much do any abdominal exercise you want, as long as you do them correct and go until failure..but the diet is what it counts the most.

  • @scotman121 You can use body tension and your arms to stabilise yourself from swaying, its hard, but you get mroe out of it if you learn how to do so.

  • the high leg raises( legs going over the bar) can be a good training for a front lever.. I can do a FL with legs to the side.. but without the lower abs you cant do a full FL..

    The side raises are for the obliques.

  • @10soccer4life Short answer - No. A 100 reps of any exercise isn't useful for anything. I do endurance tests once a month (to see what my maximum rep is) and it is purely for testing purposes. I ALWAYS ALWAYS do strength training, that is, no more than 5 reps in a set. Once you can easily and comfortably achieve 5 reps, that exercise is too easy for your body, so you need to move on to the next progression (such as adding ankle weights etc.)

  • @86mhassani ...that's not true for ab exercises...5 reps maxing out is too dangerous and not the most effective for abs. 8-15 would be more correct
