definately hear alot of mars volta in this and i know this was made up of members from mars volta but i mean you can hear the transition from early at drive in to early mars volta the first album was the greatest thing ive ever heard musically so well at moving your emotions its fucking crazy
@willimaybe I agree man, I'm not even a bassist [i play other instruments] and I just HAD to learn this.
But the beginning, uhmm...it's sorta recycled in a mars volta song, I can't remember which at the moment though.....I think it was on Amputechture, though not sure. It's different but still so similar that it's hard to deny they were working off of this. xD
this band is really underated. it is shame that people care more about shitty pop stars who don't write there own songs and only sell music becuz of there looks and how much money they have. i wish more people would listen to bands with talent .
I find that there are very few albums that are great from start to finish. That album that you just have to pop in, sit back, and listen to for an hour and a half. Well ATDI obviously accomplished that! I haven't listened to this album since I was in 9th grade. It amazing to hear it 7 years later and still be blown away by its beauty and feel the rush of nostalgia of a 15 year old Mpls kid with choppy hair always drowning in his headphones. I listen to a lot of hip now, but ill always love ATDI
@themplskid Awesome. I've listened to this album almost once a week since it was released. It never gets old, not one single track. Now, the tracks I'm most into might change, but I can listen to it from start to finish totally enraptured every time.
"I'm driving on a stormy highway in the early hours of the morning .. all there is to be seen is forest and water.
then I see a strange figure of a man holding a sign reading: the end with an arrow facing the way I'm heading. It's the middle of no where and I'm the only one On the road. Do i pick him up or drive on?"
@brainkaperz Actually Mars Volta haters finding the better band they use to be in. Mars Volta is lame. Same as Sparta. Like this comment so At The Drive In fans let it be known they are not Mars Volta. Mars Volta doesn't play Quarantined. You're listening to At The Drive In.
@iiiINSULT2INJURYiii I knew of ATDI first, but Volta's still great, man. Notice this-they're still a band, and ATDI isn't. That stands for something somewhere.
@IEatTacosForDinner No it doesnt. Everyone knows Volta isnt half the band ATDI was, and it is sad they didn't keep it going for the last 10 years, esp because music in general would have been so different than it is now.
@ThePoopcash nah dude, maybe when you get older you will appreciate the mars volta more. they are two completely different bands and two completely different styles of music. maybe that dude was wrong but so are you. im just happy they are back and if it is just the one show, two weekends though :), so be it thats all i ever wanted.
@ThePoopcash I've got to agree with you, I like very little of TMV beyond Deloused. I like Prog, have done since I was in my teens, but it's frustrating for a band with so much talent to make so music that can be quite easily ignored.
One of my fav bands, can't believe I was 20 when his came out! Used to love cruising in my street machine to this, I always wondered what happened to them...turns out Mars Volta for some of them.
They came to Australia in 2000 or 2001 and were never heard of again, real shame the energy of the entire album is unreal.
I thought more people would be about commenting on this lol. There are more comments for dumber sh*t, but when it gets to good sh*t like this.....nothing =(
Discovered this band yesterday. Already hooked. Great band.
