  • Check out Horrible Histories on You Tube..Learning made fun...

  • Inappropriate? Well yeah, do you ever listen to comedy?

  • This is funny but also offensive and inappropriate and its making fun of a culture

  • my teacher showed this to us in my art history since we were looking at all the art in Egyptian history. i was craking up in class.

  • love this song!

  • i learned this song in shool!!!

  • Where's the saxaphone solo?!

  • I love this dance/song. I am learning about Egypt in my TAG class. My teacher showed us this video. We saw who was the best dancer. One dude could do the exact dance!

  • Yes, there WAS a time when SNL was funny!! Look up Eddie Murphy, Dan Akroyd, John Belushi years!!

  • Damn, Steve Martin was old even when he was young, lol. Was this guy ever young on camera?

  • Steve is the king.Love it!!!

  • He's an Egyptian! (Hey; any country where kitty cats are sacred can't be all bad.)

  • fond memories of jamming out to this when i was 6

  • He gave his life for tourism.

  • When I was a kid I listened to his concert 8 TRACKS over and over. He changed it all. The first big concert comedian. (Friends have said he's an ass in real life though.)

  • He doesn't even say anything funny. Shit.

  • @cosdown what???? every move he makes is funny. This was done at the time that the king tut exhibit was new and traveling all over - he was the greatest comedian of that time - and I think the first king tut was done in full costume on saturday night live -

how someone can find this not funny i do not know.

  • if you dont like this video.... WELLLL EXCUUUUUUSE MEEEEE!!!

  • King Tut/ King Tutankhamen

  • Why is that corny white people are only ones that find this funny??

  • @totalbliss1 Because IT IS funny.

  • @totalbliss1 Because we're "corny white people". Don't judge us.

  • pharaoh nebkheperure tutankhamon

    (lol)

    king tut

    funky tut

    disco tut

    boss tut

    rockin' tut

wtf. how many titles shall that pharaoh have??..

  • I danced EXCATLY like this for this song in 5th grade variety show

  • Why the hell is this so funny?!? I keep coming back here and cracking up every time I see this.

  • LOLZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ....... roflcopters.

  • My teacher played this connected to the tv today at school and froced us to dace around to it . . . im in 6th grade middleschool :P

  • @RipleyDaPony me too, but we didn't do the dance thing

  • also, it's funnier when he's wearing pharaoh garb

  • looks like rick perry

  • Haha, He played the guitar for like 2 seconds.

  • Lol my sixth grade teacher had us learn this song and walk around the room dancing to it. :P

  • This is funny but not enough to laugh, i was playing it outloud on the subway and people were staring. Then i started laughing.

  • My social studies teacher showed me this today and everyone was laughing and dancing :D

  • @mymollypuppy ..and bowing and worshipping and sacrificing each other..

  • To those that don't understand why this is funny. In 1979, every school kid in America was taken on a field trip to see all the things discovered in King Tuts tomb. There was HUGE lines to get in to the exhibits. I'm guessing you are too young to get the cultural reference of this song.

  • I'm not kidding but my history teacher is making my class write a paragraph summary on this video...

  • @MrShafster mrs. nelson?

  • how is this funny?

  • He's my favorite honkyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!

  • Im so sorry but this sucks

  • Weeeeellll that's going to be stuck in my head for the rest of my life... :L yay!

  • Steve IS THE funniest white guy!!

  • Honky--goose steppin'. Heil Steve Martin. Make sure you clone plenty of yourselveseseses....

  • thumbs up for the fonz's entrance at 1:51

  • It says "no description available." I'd say he's indescribable!!

  • damn cool part of my 70's love it

  • funkeh tut

  • Never gets old :) Saw him do it live at Rutgers in 78.

  • He's a wild and crazy guy!

  • Steve Martin = Awesome Incarnate

  • lol he strum that guitar for like 3 seconds only

  • I have this song stuck in my head now. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. LOL Hilarious! Thank you so much for sharing! :)

  • Go to the Mystery of The Mansoor Amarna Collection

  • @Volcanic9 wait... does that mean you think the majority of comedy TODAY is funny? Because today all you have to do is show animated people stabbing each other to get people laughing.

  • @clcovill I think Larry David and Danny McBride are funny, Steve is too dorky for my tastes.

  • @icanhearyoubreathing oh, right ...as simple as that :P ...didn't recognize him there...strange, somehow the bit got even funnier with that information, anyway, thanks!

  • He said Henry Winkler because Henry Winkler came out behind him and was holding that tropical backdrop behind him at the end. He was announcing him and shook his hand at the end.

  • absolute classic...but at about 1:58 does he say "Henry Winkler"?? ..why? ...or maybe my ears are not as sharp as they once were...

  • it must have been strange back then when comedy didn't really exist as funny, so all you had to do was this bullshit to make people laugh

  • @Volcanic9 dude shut up. The point of this song is that it's wacky and bizarre and shouldn't be funny yet somehow is...

  • @Volcanic9 says the man who knows nothing about comedy and has likely never even been on a stage

  • @elbowslapper you're right, you got me, i'm not a performer. i guess i shouldn't criticize steve martin's wacky zany hilarious performance as being fucking stupid then should I

  • @Volcanic9 Correct. Glad we got that straightened out.

  • oh my gosh!!! that just made my day i laughed so hard

  • I was 4 in 1979 and bless my parents for raising me on his albums!

  • Saw him do this in his next-to-last ever stand up show on August 27, 1979 at Carowinds. I was 15 and went with my best friend, who was also a Steve Martin fan. One of the greatest nights of my life, and my best friend is STILL my best friend 32 years later!

  • King Tut Born in Arizona moved to babalonia can u do the monkey FAVORITE LINES

  • NOOO i was one of the 33 that accidentally hit dis like but i refreshed and hit like lol Least i can admit it lol

  • Got love himm[:

  • ricky skaggs takes over the watseka theatre watseka illinois on friday aug 26

  • i was listening to internet radio and they played the oldie song about Muhammad Ali Theme Song Black Superman---and it reminded me of the King Tut song by Steve Martin---really enjoyed watching---funny and you can dance to it too :)

  • 30 people cursed by the tomb of King Tutankhamun.

  • @MsThebeMoon no...

  • I love Steve Martin's comedy. Apparently he's a shy guy, but I wouldn't believe it by this.

  • I don't get it?

  • I'm raising my hand. I do remember it in the Top 40 & have the 45. Still makes me laugh just like I never heard it before...

  • steve martin is hilarious!

  • Raise your hand if you remember that this tune went TOP 40 when it was originally released!

  • Saw him in a concert today and he played this song! Awsome!!!!

  • Haha. Opie and Anthony made your song look stupid. Eat a dick steveie.

  • @xar51 Who the hell listens to what Opie and Anthony have to say? They are nothing but idiotic, childish fools. And if you are going to try to insult someone, at least use words you know how to spell.

  • @xar51 Made it look stupid because it is stupid. What a fucking unfunny hack.

  • ADORO! ARTISTA COMPLETO.

  • love it

  • Awesome

  • So this was 1979, eh?

King Tut exhibit was a really big deal & Elvis hadn't been dead long. Great parody of both "kings" - concert in white suit & guitar but with "Egyptian styling."

"They'd line up just to see him."

    "Rockin' for a mile."

    "The ladies loved his style."

"He gave his life for tourism."

The original Memphis is in Egypt, don't cha you know....

  • For all you dislikers who hate this song,'Well, Excuuuuuuse ME!'

  • @DaveWollenberg YOU WIN THE INTERNETZ FOR ALL ETERNITY XDD!!!

  • What I think people would do well to remember is that this came out in 1979 . . . . the year the King Tut exhibit came to New York. It was absolutelty a frenzy. This song marks that, and it's not saying anything about Egyptian culture or politics.

  • @KingTutankhamun100 It's satire. Get over it.

  • @KingTutankhamun100 Aw, come on! Where's your sense of humor, let it rip! This IS halarious. I saw him do it in '79

  • @KingTutankhamun100 Its called "irony". Look it up.

  • @KingTutankhamun100 "mimicking & degrading African history & culture"? Please tell me you are kidding.

  • @KingTutankhamun100 you have GOT to be kidding me!!!!! its called FUN. you should try it sometime.

  • Was that the Fonz carrying the backdrop in the background?? Kinda looks like Winkler! LOL

  • @damaged73 I think it was... >.>

  • @damaged73 Yes, that was the Fonz!

  • The guitar "solo" is the best part. heh.

  • Terrible.

  • THE EGYPTIAN GOVERNMENT IS DESTROYING ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES IN THE WESTERN SAHARA.THEY ARE SMASHING,BULDOZING,AND REMOVING PREHISTORIC STONE CIRCLES AND OTHER ARTIFACTS BECAUSE THE ARTIFACTS TELL THE TRUE ORIGIN OF ANCIENT EGYPT.

  • steve martin is a comedy god.

  • Wow! Comedy has come a looonnnng Way!

  • Steve Martin has the stage presence of a god

  • Didn't Mubarak write the lyrics?

  • I miss Steve being the " worlds funniest white guy"....

  • @jmc235 No, that was Albert Brooks.

  • @joshscobey ... Notice the quotation marks... I had the video of this show when I was young.. In the beginning credits he referred to himself as "the worlds funniest white guy"... I laughrd my ass off every time I watched it!!!

  • @jmc235 I was actually referring to a magazine article about Brooks from the 1970's (Esquire?) that was titled "The World's Funniest White Man" or something like that, probably implying that Richard Pryor was the funniest.

  • @joshscobey ... Maybe that is why Steve said guy instead of man.....

  • @jmc235 Remember in the movie "the Jerk" he was born a poor black child

  • @thundermaster41 ...And he had a special purpose...

  • @jmc235 never knew that he was but he certainly deserved the title

  • @pokehacker ... I had the VHS of this show when I was a kid... He does a commentary during the credits in the begining and refers to himself as " the worlds funniest white guy"...

  • Lol people at my school have to do this

  • Elvis may not have been buried in his jammies, but HE should have won more Grammies. But anyway, love this film of Steve doing his King Tut!! Thanks for posting.

  • todays comics can't touch this guy. he's got more talent in his pinky finger than they have in their body. jim carreys up there to.

  • The few that were bigger than SNL

  • I can take it or leave it..it is a whiter shade of pale lol

  • haha The Fonz holding the background.

  • king tut, ha i typed that with my belt

  • Steve Martin is awesome, one of my all-time favorite comedians and an awesome SNL host.

  • He's so talented! Im doing a project on him(:

    (legendary comics)

  • This was his encore.

After he'd sworn never to sing that song again, he walked off the stage.

The crowd wanted to, both, applaud him for his principled stand AND sing it. He then came out in that headdress and sang the song with gusto.

He knew exactly what his audience wanted and gave it to them.

  • Damn, look at that standing ovation. Everyone JUMPS out of their seats SO fast. What a brilliant man Steve Martin is.

  • This is possibly the dumbest song ever they play this when u go to Hell

  • Excuse this stupid 20 year old but I would love to see if I can find the show this is from - does anyone know the name of the show? Would greatly appreciate it!

  • @notpeterhansen look on his Saturday Night Live days. Back in the late 70s and early 80s. He was and still is great! true tallent. Person above don't know what was good back in the day.

  • @notpeterhansen I would say it's one of his HBO specials. One being the On Location (1976) and this one is from Steve Martin Live! (1979 or 1980).

  • @notpeterhansen Steve Martin had a number of comedy albums. CD's or MP3 content ought to be avalible. Any album generally contained his current tour's material. Find the one with King Tut on it and there ya go.

  • Got a condo made of stona

That part always makes me laugh :D

  • It made me giggle. Can't imagine what it was like when King Tut was all over the news and everything.
