Right, here is my problem, about 6 months ago i went out and got gothic 3, played it and really enjoyed it, until the "Where is the guru?" error message came up, i have been on the G3 forums and people suggest various answers that i really cant be bothered doing to be quite honest, so I was wondering, is it worth getting this game? is it REALLY good? and does it have annoying error messages come up halfway through playing? Thanks :)

well thats a matter of opinion, I highly reccommend it but its nothing like gothic 3, the combat system is very strange in gothic 2 from what you are most likly used to but given time its far superior

Gothic 2 the expansion Gothic 2 NOTR makes it harder but longer and better :D..i think its harder because if you notice the Damage to the weapons are much bigger then G2 org .. and there are weapons that rich even DMG 200 ! you didn't see that in G2original :) sow till you put your hands on a sword like that use The Bow :D shoot from High land :P and it will work your way into the game ! awesome GAME !!!

For the people who think that the german version sux: THAT IS TOTALY BULLSHIT! The german speech is the best i ever heard in a game. The speakers are great. Maybe you dislike it because you are not able to speak it. But this doesn`t make the german version "sux"

Hit me or not, I like both game-lines, Elder Scrolls AND Gothic if that's imaginable for you since they have some analogies ...

Gothic is more of a low-fantasy world while there are Elves and ghosts in TES, both have their specific flair.

If you didn't get it: Gothic 3 was a total failure in almost any point and the developers got fired so Gothic 4 will be made by other people, if that's better or not

I even like Gothic 2's graphics more than the ones from Gothic 3. They are just more detailed and.. just - more simple, not so complex. Not that extra stuff you don't need!

Okay, Gothic 2 has no multiple AA or Bloom but the world itself is just so detailed, every grassblade is placed perfectly on the ground, that's the difference. I miss that in Gothic 3, not speaking of story, fighting and guilds ...

i think it's pointless to argue which is better, because elder scrolls is very open sand-box type of game with almost no mandatory main storyline (unless you dive into the details yourslef) and gothic is much more linear rpg game with different elements, stats and stuff. so in my opinion arguing which is better would be saying that fried chicken is better than linkin park. you can't compare different things and pretend it makes sense :)

not really, it should if you have it turned on and turned up, go into options and see audio - if its should be playing and isnt however then yes somthing is wrong, I suggest then playing music in media player in the background, online radio is also nice - I use to listen to jazz while playing (not fitting I know but it was cool) - hope that helps you!

I also had problem with no music during gameplay. It turned out the reason was that I'm using Vista. In order to hear the music (which is VERY important to the atmosphere of the game) in Vista, you'll have to download and copying the following dll-files into the game's system-files: dmband.dll, dmime.dll, dmloader.dll, dmstyle.dll, dmsynth.dll, dmusic.dll and dmcompos.dll. By the way, absolutely fantastic game that beats the crap out of any RPG released nowadays.

that sounds like a lot of work! I dont like vista, it seems like its far too fiddly and annoying, instead of working like it should do it attempts to make things easier, but ends up over complicating things. I myself use xp - the daddy.

Well Morrowind is bigger, with more items and equipment to get and enjoy with, more quests and plus you can keep playing even when you do the main quest. I like Gothic 2 more beacause everything in the game is handmade and i can reconize the land where I go and enjoy the landscape without looking at a map... I also enjoy the storyline of Gothic WAY more. I enjoy the gameplay more and how the AI in the game have their own schedule and walk around and talk on their agenda.

I suppose for it's time this was light years ahead. I figured Morrowind would be bigger. But I see your point, in being more linear it makes for a better story and more involving. Morrowind's main quest wasn't exactly driven. It was quite hard to follow. But what makes these games for me is first items/weapons then quests then enemies then NPC's. Gothic 3 had NO weapons.

hmm Im not sure, it could be a long list of things, but I would say its most likly your low on RAM, buy a whelsh sheep - they have tons of ram... either that or just delete some old games you dont use (or simply upgrade your computer) I doutb its your graphics card

I have two worlds, was very impressed in the begining, but it has major flaws like any other game, gothic 2 is better because it is almost perfectly balenced - two worlds is incrediably unstable (combat and statswise), but its graphics and spoken dialog is excellent (though the distant graphics are a disgrace).
