Can you recommend a good thickening styling product? I am older, (51) and my hair is getting finer and thinner. It needs some "oomph" or lift. And some style and control. Nothing that will cause flaking, though. Thank you for the great tips. Misty
oils do not hurt your skin and if you don't put too much on your scalp it won't seep too much onto your forehead. Even if it does, it will not necessarily cause breakouts. It's not oils that cause breakouts....it is more bacteria that does the pimples.
As u said to cut the hairs once in two months but i m a punjabi and its strictly said to not cut hair in ur life so plz let me knw about to over come with rough hairs without cutting....
Well natural hair care is really amazing. I'm in the "no-poo" method (i just use a conditionner without parabens and silicones and use natural products like aloe vera gel, vegetal oils and essential oils)since few weeks and i already recovered my curls. I wash my hair only once a week (and sometimes with rhassoul) and they are less oily and less dry than before.
I really believe in natural products for skin care and hair care, your advices are very good, thank's about that !
According to medical experts, the massaging of the scalp is only a myth which does not work. I personally do not know much about this, but this is what I have been reading (and been told) by Trichologists (dermatologist doctors who specialist in hair care). Additionally, you should not use any kind of oil in your scalp (as you suggested here). Olive oil is used only for the split ends. Unless you suffer from eczema in your scalp it is not recommended to use any products on it (especially oil).
that's not true. my doctor told me to massage lotion/oil with vitamin E into my scalp and leave it in overnight to help stop my hair from falling out.
it was my primary care doctor. I was losing hair after severe blood loss. the vitamin e lotion overnight did slow the hair loss as it helped strengthen my roots.
Sorry to hear you were ill. I too had severe blood loss after an ovarian cyst twisted around my kidney. Not only I had an internal hemorrhage but I also became severely anemic afterwards. Anyhow, the reason why people anemic or those who loose blood also have alopecia (hair loss) is due to Iron loss. I am most surprised that your doctor prescribed vitamin E as it has no connection with Iron and it is the lack of iron that caused the hair loss to begin with.
Alternative practitioners (such as herbalists and Ayuverda specialists) praise scalp massage, and until recently it was believed that massaging the scalp would prevent baldness, however the latest research shows that massaging is actually detrimental for male pattern baldness cases, as scalp massage stimulates your hair roots to grow and stimulate production of more oil which at the same time contain hormones that actually cause the baldness.
Be careful, most henna contain color, natural henna should look green and before you dye your hair, make sure you test it on your finger or something because 100% natural henna doesn't color easily, you have to let it stay for long you know.
So if the henna leaves a red stain in couple of seconds, there are chemical colors in it.
Also I've heard that "real" henna should dye your hair black instead of red, but I'm not sure.
real henna should never dye your hair black because henna produces a red tone so your hair should have a red or burgundy tint. Of course real henna doesnt lift your hair color, so your hair may stay black but with a hint of red. Depending on your hair color you may never see the henna "color" on your head.
please dont use henna!! overtime it will ruin your hair!!

I try not to wash my hair every day but it is quite oily so I find using a dry shampoo or some talcum powder and then brushing it out helps alot

I also wanted to add that using olive oil in your roots will make the top of your hair very flat.

What kind of doctor is your doctor? Doctors (either general dermatologists or trichologists do not normally prescribe vitamin E).
Do you suffer from scalp eczema?
SandraLondon63 2 years ago
Sorry, I meant to say Psoriasis and not eczema. If you have scalp psoriasis massaging with olive oil would be indicated.

The real henna should be red. Black henna is dangerous. There have been a lot of people who have had a major allergic reaction to black henna.
