  • I'm singing this song for my audition not the most abstract or complicated song but all the better because of it you have to show true emotions

  • I totally knwo how tehse guys feel...

  • I love this.

  • If you get into trouble, I'll cover you.

You don't have you worry. I care about you.

You will wake from the mightmare.

  • The answer to this song is, yes.

  • hey Mighty Duck fans! that guy who first stands and sings in that group played Dean Portman on D2 and D3! thank you imbd!

  • 19 people seem to not have a soul

  • This is so amazing, I love rent, and sob everytime I watch it. As a 15 year old boy. Lol

  • this song gives me chills

  • I love this. I am a strong Christian, and it absolutely ticks me off when people hate on homosexuals. I may not agree with it but that certainly won't stop me from getting to know you as a person, not a political or moral issue. Other people claiming to be Christians out there who hate on and judge gay people make me sick. That isn't what Jesus taught at all!

  • @Tpdude046 Wow. Just...wow. I'm about as atheist as you can be, and I have to say I'm deeply impressed. Props.

  • @Tpdude046 alternatively you could just agree with it, because it's so fine

  • what movie are people talking about

  • @animez89 "RENT" it's a broadway musical that was made into a movie.

  • heard this song from sytycd canada in mia micheal rejection piece

  • Such a powerful song and it only has three lines

  • i was lucky enough to play mark cohen in my hometowns theater company. this musical changed my life and ive never felt as close to a group of people in my life. RENT Forever!

  • I'll never forget when this came out it theaters and DVD I was about 12 and was in love with it especially this song I was bullied in MS and RENT helped me through

It this song always gave me the chills I'm 18 now

  • Go to my,page, a dance with a girl in a wheel chair about bullying

  • @HenrkShille no it's not it's sad and this was an awesome movie. Did you even see it?

  • holy shit this song was gay!

  • Person before me, preach it. Gay Christian pride!

  • I'm a person who lives and breaths according to the Holy Bible... For all of those people who say that "God hates X, Y & Z" they should listen to this song and realize that this is the very same message that Jesus Christ died on the cross for. So that we can love God with all our hearts, mind and soul AND to love our neighbor as we love ourselves! No exceptions, no rejections, only the love that God has for us.

So if you are a true Christian, stop hating gay people and show unconditional love!

  • Trailer For Rent

  • The Guy who had the solo in the beginning, (Steve) was DEAN PORTMAN from the Mighty Ducks.

  • @maddypatty222 Screw your mom. This is a movie NO ONE should keep you from. If I had the power, I would force every last human on this planet to watch this movie. I will not hesitate to give you an online link to it if you so desire. Watch it while your parents are out.

  • @MsPrincessMonaco haha thanx :) i really love the message of this movie and hope to watch it soon

  • i was at a music competition today and this song was song! i was almost crying they sung it amazingly!

  • When I was younger I had really really bad kidney disease and it was a miracle I lived. But I recently found out that I have about five years to live because they're a very very very high chance it'll come back. I'm fifteen right now.

  • @anamiaaremyfriends I'm fifteen and I can't imagine what you must be going through sorry I'll hope for you

  • This has amazing harmony and it's very moving although the whole song is a basic phrase

  • I loveeeeee rent song so much this and season of love are my favorite!

  • i luv the beggining of the movie. i just wish my mom would let me finish the rest.....

  • @maddypatty222 icefilms (dot) info you can look it up and watch it for free this is one of those movies you really shouldn't miss out on I didn't see it until I was 15

  • I love that soloist in this is the same guy who played Mush in Newsies. <3

PS Jonathan Larson, you are my inspiration.

  • I can't explain with words how fucking amazing this movie is

  • this song always makes m cry

  • I dont know about anyone else but this is one of my favorite songs on the movie

  • Probably one of the most meaningful songs I ever heard.

  • This song can be applied to almost anything in life. Illness, disorders, relationships, troubles, exclusion, anything. Yet, I feel hope in this song. The hope that one day, it will all be ok, in one way or another. Do you feel it too?

  • @purplepigstudios this song? defines my entire existence. i was born with a disease that doesn't, of itself, cause death [though bcuz of it so many OTHER things can kill me] but the defining aspect is pain. i've been in constant, chronic pain since i was 9. i don't know what "no pain" feels like. even worse, is when other people CAN TELL that i'm in pain; "will i lose my dignity". almost as bad - people punishing me because i hurt; "will someone care".

i can only hope. na da.

    thank you.

  • One of the greatest songs written, really captures what goes thru my mind on a daily bases

  • This song makes me cry. I have freinds and relatives with diseases, and it reminds me of them.

With the risk of AIDS being so high, I wish more of my gay friends would use protection. I mean, seriously! Such an easy way to prevent such a horrible thing.

  • @thatUkrainianguy AIDS doesn't only effect gays. You know better than that.

  • @Anameleth13 Yes, this is true. But in this musical, isn't the infected character gay?

  • @thatUkrainianguy Angel is. But Mimi is infected and almost dies and she is not gay. Rodger's old girlfriend died of AIDS and she wasn't gay. Just saying.

  • @Anameleth13 Oh, I see! Sorry, I didn't realize that they also had aids in the movie. Thanks for correcting me.

  • @thatUkrainianguy I don't want to be the bitch corrector... I just love the movie and know it's about so much more ... Sorry.

  • @Anameleth13 not at all! I appreciate the correction. Thank you :)

  • If any on tries to remake this song or any of these songs i'm going to kill them

  • idk if anyone else realized, but the curley haired dude who opened up the singing, arron lohr, played one of the bash brothers in mighty ducks 2 and 3, dean portment. this vid makes him look like the years since those flicks (17 and 15, respectivly) kicked the shit outa him kuz he was fuckin jacked n cool as hell in both the MDs

  • This song is so emotional. I love it

  • For me this song means something completely different. I have friends with leukimia, friends with addictions, friends who wear long sleeves to hide what they do, friends whose parents treat them like crap, and then there's me, a girl who has been left in the cold too mant times. I always wonder will I get lost with all my worrying. And will anyone care? will i ever wake up from that nightmare?

  • i love this movie..... the song are so addiing

  • and who ever hit that note at 2:16 was amazing. like i got chills all over<3

  • their faces, their seriousness, their body movements... everything gave me chills . there alll good actors/actresses. <3

  • I did this song in the school show and enjoyed doing it

  • The sad thing about AIDS going away is that AIDS is the last link that the homosexuals have to art. This is meaningful and addresses true feelings of emotion and love. Look at Philadelphia with Tom Hanks for another example. Once AIDS is gone and gay marriage is legal than the gays will be stuck to the rectum of art with interior designing and the cod-profundity of "it get's better" yuck. It will only be a matter of years until gays are as artless as the skinheads and truck drivers.

  • i cant stop crying

  • This song brings tears to my eyes. I have lost a friend to HIV/AIDS, and I have a few other friends who live with it each day. A group of my friends performed RENT last year with a troupe and the performance was so amazing, because for some of them, the situation was so close to home for them. To watch them perform it made the musical so much more moving than it already is.

  • I can't even mention the word "Rent" around my mother without a look of disgust washing over her face. Trying to perform RENT for my High School's musical, people in the group called the theme "too adult" or "unsuitable", when these issues are something that can't be quieted down.

  • The other day I was taking to my mom she hates all gays and I always wonder what would happen if I came out to her, we were talking about one of her friends and she said he died of AIDS... my whole body froze and I had to hold back the tears.

  • Dear God, those people who have died or suffer from HIV/AIDS are never far from my thoughts. 30,000,000 dead, 33.3 million currently affected by this disease. I HOPE that some solution comes about. The beautiful music fills me with the fear of those who have HIV/ AIDS -- "Will I wake tomorrow from this nightmare...?" Can't help but to cry...

  • facebook.com/groups/140264096057975/

  • This movie is so sad in many ways and honestly its funny to see a huge football player crying but it shows alot it shows how much anybody can care i honestly could never imagine this as my life but i know that real people go through this and it opened my eyes i watched this movie when i was i think 13 14 with my sister and i never knew people went through this kind of struggle me having a nice house and nice things and its honestly sad i wish more people would care so we could save people :/

  • the mos beautiful song ever

  • My twin brother was very against homosexuality... A woman who was like a sister to me got me this movie when I was 15. I was watching it my brother walked in he sat and watched it with me. I saw the looks on his face when it showed the homosexuality, then when Angel started getting sicker I started crying and he gave me a hug then when Angel died I was shocked to see him crying too. Since then he has become an avid supporter and even saved a man being beat up because he is gay. RENT changed him!

  • @booboobitxch666

    Still the best story ever!

  • @booboobitxch666 if only Jonathan Larson could see how his musical changed so many people like your brother

  • @kingdomheartsepic I wish he could lol my brothers name is Jonathan too

  • @booboobitxch666 He is just like me but im a girl rent changed me alot because of Angel and i dont care what other poeple think of me going against homosexuality people where i live in iowa get killed because their gay and i think its pathetic.

  • @imasexybeast10 Homosexuality is found in more than 500 species of animal homophobia is only found in 1... I never had a problem with homosexuals and was shocked when my brother told me he was against homosexuality it never occurred to me that homosexuality was ever a bad thing or strange or anything like that I am happy that Jonathan Larson could make a difference for you too =)

  • @booboobitxch666 actually it's now 1500 :D Take that, bigots!

  • @futurejockey8 see homosexuality is a wonderful thing there is nothing wrong with it... and all those ppl out there saying it is against the will of God. Bah God and Jesus preached love and tolerance yet ppl sit judging

  • @booboobitxch666 yep! :D and it's completely natural. "Oh, you CHOSE to be gay" Yeah, gays WANTED to be hated and bullied and have their human rights taken away. It's not like you wake up one morning going, "hmmm I wanna be gay now!" BING! and you start to get hard at men lolol

  • @futurejockey8 Oh there is a choice but the choice is whether to embrace your homosexuality or not. I am bisexual I'm not ashamed never have been. My mother was so angry when I came out to her preaching about the will of god and all that. Until I quoted a few things from the bible I told her that there is one line that says no homosexuality and a million others that say love unconditionally, that includes gender. She had nothing to say she's more accepting now but I had to move out first

  • @booboobitxch666 EXACTLY hahaha at least your mom is accepting it. My brother is gay (he's 19 right now) but my mom suspected that he was when he was just 5. So she's had time to accept him, which she really never had trouble doing. I suspect that I have GID, and although that has nothing to do with my sexuality (asexual), a lot of people think I am a lesbian (which pisses me off). Anyways, that's good about your mom :) She should love you with all of her heart because you are..

  • @futurejockey8 her child - not enough character space ahahaha

  • @futurejockey8 Yeah I was pretty damn lucky for it I know of a few kids who were kicked out b/c they came out to their parents and one or both didn't like it... Pathetic right? I will message you if you don't mind for the rest I have a few questions of a slightly delicate nature...

  • @booboobitxch666 I agree, it is pathetic of the parents. Why can't they just suck it up and accept their CHILD. Ugh, ignorance. And I don't mind it if you message me :)

  • Thank you jonathn larson

  • As a young aspiring author and artist I look at this musical with a special eye. I see it as an inspiration and an example of the human spirit that is or should be present in every meaningful emotional intellectual piece ever created. With this musical and all of its beautiful songs I see a very perfect story with an awesome ability to affect the human soul and change a persons outlook on live. I see a modern masterpece that has changed the world it was created and survives in. Thank You Jonathn

  • this song always brings tears to my eyes :'( I don't know why but it just does

  • I was 12 when I first saw Rent. Of course, I didn't and still don't understand a lot of things about this musical. There's so much value to life and we should treasure what we have. I often listen to this song when I'm down, and this really helps. When everything is going down, I know I have to keep myself up. So thank you, Jonathan Larson, for changing my life and making me who I am... and for waking me from this nightmare. :) I hope everyone feels awesome, too. ^^ xoxo

  • I believe I was 13 the first time I saw Rent. My parents had been pushing me, and I figured, what the heck, I'll watch it before I go to bed. I didn't sleep that night. I cried. A lot.

  • I remember listening to this song before I got diagnosed with depression, I thought I was going to do something stupid. I got diagnosed and saw a therapist, I remember listening to this song after my first session. It was winter, the ground was frosty and it was the first time I had noticed the sun shining for a long time. I bought this movie on the way home and this song spoke to me on so many levels. Sorry if my story was a bit lame but I felt the need to share xxx

  • This breaks my heart every time I hear it. A masterpiece.

  • I did backstage for Rent at my local theatre and every single time, this brought a lump to my throat <3

  • The first time I watched rent was when I was 11:) I didn't understand everything obviously but it tought me so much about life and the struggles people had to go through , that maybe one day, i'd have to face too. I love this musical so much.<3 thanks jonathon

  • 16 people are stuck in a nightmare without love.

  • this song is so beutifl n touched my heart n it should touch everyonnes elses heart n for the 16 that disliked GET ON SOMEWHERE YOU DONT GOT A HEART!

  • Will I lose my dignity

    will someone care

these words really speak to me

  • this is probably the sadest song i`ve heared....

so many emotions and so easy. the question everybody would ask in such a situation...

  • This song always make me want to cry. It is so honest, true, talks about real issues that people are too scared to think about otherwise. It is inspirational and perfect.

  • I wonder if this will be me someday, I love my life and everyone in it and to think of losing it and them hurts my heart. I have sons that I intend to love and care fo for the rest of my days only if they don't end up taking care of me. This is my hope and prayers. Please understand.

  • favorite song from the movie

  • Fifteen words. And it's one of the most beautiful, moving songs from the whole musical.

  • SOLAMENTE 16 COGLIONI POTEVANO CLICCARE SU NON MI PIACE!!!

  • Such an honest song. This is the part where I really started crying. And even if you don't have an terminal disease, everyone feels this way too sometimes.

  • This song breaks my heart. It makes me think about when my uncle and his partners time will be up. It makes me wonder if they ever feel like this even with all of our family supporting them..

  • ITS MUSH!!! :)

  • @thecuteone19 YES! I am so glad I am not the only one that said that!!! Thank you! You just made my night!

  • @FalconMusic09 haha i love newsies :) mush is my favorite! who's your favorite newsie? and christian bale is in my town this month filming batman and if i get the chance to see him i'm going to scream "Its jack kelly! i love you cowboy!"

  • @thecuteone19 I like Kid Blink. But I also love Jack and David. But I really think Les is a cutie! And I would so be with you yelling "I LOVE YOU COWBOY!" LOL What is your favorite song in the movie?

  • @FalconMusic09 honestly, i can't choose my #1 favorite newsie. its either mush or kid blink. i love them both! and all of the songs in the movie are amaazing but i have to say that carrying the banner is the best in my opinion. whats your favorite song?

  • @thecuteone19 Hmmm.. I really like all the songs too. But I like "The World will Know". And the dancing in the "Seize the Day" Reprise. That's the best dancing in the whole movie!

  • @FalconMusic09 i totally agree with you! i watch that video over and over just to watch their dance moves. me and you have so much in common!! we both love the newsies!

  • @thecuteone19 I love most musicals! Have you ever seen Across the Universe? It's a great movie if you have never seen it! With all Beatles songs. Or Mamma Mia with all ABBA songs? I have so many musicals at my house. It's crazy! Also stuff like Funny Girl, or West Side Story, or Chicago. They are all great!

  • @FalconMusic09 i saw mamma mia. but yea i love musicals, too. recently on a class trip we went to new york city and we saw wicked on broadway and i was blown away! one of the best musicals ever! did you ever see wicked? but just wondering, how old are you?

  • @thecuteone19 I so want to see Wicked! That is one I have yet to see! And I am 20. What about you?

  • @FalconMusic09 its amazing! you have to see it one day! but i'm 14.

  • Damnn what was this garyGjenkins guys saying to cause such awful comments?

  • Every time i hear this song i start to cry and can't help but to sing along. :)

  • I say this is one of, if not the most inspirational songs of this movie and show. Its very simple but says so much in its few words

  • if jonathan larson was still alive today i think he would be really proud of how far his creation has become. Rent has really changed my and many others view on life. If only i could of meet him in person. R.I.P jonathan larson you truly one of my biggest role models

  • @KuroNeko3770 If it werent for this musical, i would not be who i am today.

  • @KuroNeko3770 its such a shame he died the day before the opening, he never saw it.

  • @GregJamesCox I know :( its just so sad. If just a handfull of people in this world had the same heart and love as jonathan or was as inspired by his work then most of the people who are watching this video this world would be such a better place!

  • Thank you for caring, Jonathan Larson....I wish everyone could care as much as you did..... It makes you wonder what the world would be like if we all tried, even if only for a day?

  • This song means so much too. Back in 08 I learned i had stomach cancer since then my life has been hell, ful pain.

  • @tay10111 I am so sorry to hear about that. As the song says i care. I don't know what you have gone through or how much pain you have been in but my sister does. She is having alot of pain on her side. I just think if the world would sing this song wars would end and friends would be made.

  • This is a great musical, but I must say - getting tired of the hating on people because they don't have the same cultural taste as you do. LIKE OMG HE DOSEN'T LIKE WHAT I LIKE WTF?! Or better yet, you try and make your self seem educated in your ignorance by using well structured sentences and big words, when in reality you sound like an imbecile bitching because not everybody thinks the same way you do. Is youtube your first encounter with variety of opinion?! Your comments ruin great videos.

  • I always cry when Roger walks in :')

  • I have over this musical since I was little and I am 13 so it just shows people that even a young person can appreciate the classics and I cry every time I hear this song and wen angle dies is the hardest part for me cause I cry like I knew him :*{ I love this musical more then anything and I am speechless on how to describe how magical it is :) it changed my life ( again only 13)

  • This musical has been a GREAT part of my inspiration to recover from depression.

I'm glad to say: I DID wake from my nightmare.

  • @EmilyLightning Congratulations! depression is such a hard thing to get over. I've been living with it since i was about 13. I know how difficult it is to get over it and I couldn't be more proud of you. (Even though I don't know you) Keep it going and spread the love!!<3

  • @omgcanieatthisnoms Thank you so much♥

  • Comment removed

  • @EmilyLightning I am glad to hear that you woke from your nightmare :) I totally relate to this song for the same reason. i have suffered from depresssion most of my life and made some inroads but it is a ongoing battle.

  • I find it very meaningful that Mark is harmonizing by himself, and so is Roger. They both feel so alone, yet, at the same time, they're really not; they're alone /together/.

  • <3 , i so love this song && the movie fuck who ever talks shit , on the comments , if you dont like it theres no need too talk shit ,

  • this is probably the most passionate musical ever written just based on the themes. add in the backstory it's so heartrenching and moving it's unbelieveable.

  • I just wanna hug Roger when he was walking down the street to Life Support. Good think Collins does it for me at 1:57 :)

  • This is my absolute favorite song from Rent - it's so simple and meaningful.

  • I will never forget when I saw this on Broadway. This is by far the best musical I have ever seen!!

  • Most powerful / Beautiful / and simple song of the show. just beautiful <3

  • 15 people lost there dignity and no one cared

  • Angel reminds me so much of my fvorite uncle who recently passed away from AIDS. he Was a Queen and damn proud. this song he said really did describe how it felt to be infected. every time I hear this song for the rest of my life i will miss him.

    R.I.P Uncle Michael/ Aunt Rose

  • RIP jonathan larson. you are missed. i pray to god every night that i could be as amazing as you.

  • @hoffable1 Before I say what i will say, I must first say, from the bottom of my heart: RIP Jonathan Larson, we all miss you dearly. On that note, does anyone think about where RENT would be today, if Jonathan were still alive to see it? Would it have taken off so fast?

  • only a few lyrics...but they have powerful meanings.

  • for the 15 of you who hates this beautiful song need to fuck off bc this is a honest song and it brings me to tears everytime i here it

  • My friends at my old school sang this song for a Performance Arts Show. I wasn't there to see it, but I really wish I was.

  • Was Mark in Lord of the Rings?

  • 15 people dont have a heart

  • Wow, this song really inspired me about changing how I try life, and just to enjoy ever minute of it! No matter what happens!!! Thanks Jonathan Larson and RIP! :)

  • This song represents my own struggles in this life... *sigh* I love this song...

  • Jonathan Larson----

Thank you so much for creating some of the most powerful songs to ever hit broadway. You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, buddy :)

  • This song and a few others give me the chills everytime i listen even though ive only seeen the fulll musical twice i got obessed with it and it was all i listened to and i still am!!! :)

  • This song always makes me cry... it can be taken in so many ways... not just AIDS but depression as well... hits me right in the heart... :/

  • I know this isn't what the song is about but it hits home. I first found this musical when I was depressed. Every day seemed like a never ending nightmare, it felt like no one cared, and I was scared to ask for help.

  • @animegirl98xxx i hear you

  • @garyGjenkins oh, I get it now. you like death. and not just death of those with AIDS, but apparently African Americans too. so you really are the whole ignorant package.

well. I think I'm done talking to you, knowing that you're intolerant to most humane and moral rights.

  • @garyGjenkins hello again. you talk about "sentimental fools" trying to cure AIDS. did you know I want to cure AIDS? of course, in your mind, that makes me a "sentimental fool". however there are many sentimental fools in history. look at all they've done. America itself is based on sentimental fools. look at the Founding Fathers. Abraham Lincoln. all the pioneers traveling west. Franklin D Roosevelt. we are a country of sentimental fools and we've proven that in fact, sentimental fools are the

  • @44harbordale44 I guess. but you are right. it's like watching a dog run in circles. I wonder why he hasn't replied to me. I figured he would have come up with something by now.

  • @44harbordale44 ... omg lol, his outlined plan? some people... you know what they say, what goes around comes around. it would be ironic if he got AIDS.. not that I'm wishing he would.

I propose that we just ignore him altogether. feeding a dying horse does no good.

  • @imsmarterthnyou lol yeah i should ignore him but it's so fun making him try to seem smart :D

  • um, wow. quite a flame war you all have started.

first @garyGjenkins hi. you talk about the weak suffering. I assume you believe those with AIDS are weak. do you also believe those with cancer are weak?

you talk about how you enjoy them and are humored by their death. but think, these are human beings. and while you may not think they are, the true definition of a human being is an organism with a brain and the ability to process thought. some humans are ignorant. others are caring.

    but we'

  • @imsmarterthnyou he just a fail troll, notice when my replies got longer he started to try and be intellectual suddenly. He just spouts false dribble and doesn't really know what he's talking about like " We wouldn't have to spend money into researching an AIDS cure if we simply stopped trying to help those with AIDS " wrong completely because a scientist would try and cure it anyways for others or for the glory of it one way or another because not helping doesn't stop the spread. lol fail

  • I'm 15 and i was recently introduced to Rent by my friend and i love it. I bought both DVDs the legit Movie, and the filmed Broadway one! I haven't been able to stop watching! The music is inspirational and moving and sad. When angel died i cried, ill be honest. I dont support gays or lesbians (im gonna get hated for that) but that doesn't mean i dont care about them. Even though i dont support gays i do think we should treat them equal and not make fun of them. They weren't born tht way

  • Oh, the look on that woman's face at 2:19 just adds so much to this already heartbreaking song...

  • No one else respond to either of garyGjenkins posts. He's ingnorent and needs to wake up. Let the world go on without him. Don't waste your time arguing or resolving with this emotionless robot!

  • omigod I cried for Roger in this scene

  • @garyGjenkins Compassion is a strength, and shows true character.

  • @garyGjenkins what the hell is wrong with you! I hope someone will open your eyes to the real world outsdie your cold basement. AIDS is a natural disease and those who have it will get the compassion that you lack. You need to wake up and see the world for waht it is> I'm sorry, but it doesn't revolved around you! :( Good day!

  • @garyGjenkins At first your comments made me mad. This is such a beautiful, honest song. The musical is so inspiring and true. I didn't understand how anyone could hate a story of such hope and life. But now, after thinking about it for a while, I just feel bad for you. It makes me sad that you have so much hatred in your heart. I could argue against your cruel comments, but others have done so more eloquently then I ever could. So I'll just say this, I hope one day you can have compassion.

  • Everytime i here this song it brings me more and more hope for the world it brings me a kind of understanding for the world lately i have had so many emotional problems but i always try to help people who ask for it despite my own problems life to me it seems is like a threshold, even though whats on the other side might scare us we shouldn't let that stop up from achieving what we want (horrible grammar and comparison should be expected)

  • Everywhere, anywhere, someone is heckling every video
