im playing this game for the second time now this game is awsome and i am pwning those necromorphs now. the first time i played the game it was a little rough but now that i got the hang of it im a beast my favorite weapon is the plasma cutter. i had to break that piece of shit gears of war 2 to really get into deadspace tho

I recently experienced this game in HD and it is just incredible! I saw so much more in the game and got even more creeped out. And I can actually read the words in it.
on my first try, i did 14hrs from being terrified the hole time... my second time was 9hrs 43min. I basicly ran through it all. For some reason, i felt pro. ;D "for a game like this take your time." LOL.
I would never play this game in standard definition. If you haven't gotten an hdtv since this video, I'd suggest it, they aren't even that expensive anymore.
@icetrey87 My computer monitor is 1080p with an HDMI input, so I usually play games on that. but if Annetta's watching, I play on the main TV. We're planning to get a proper, large HDTV set, but the kind we want actually IS kinda expensive (even though prices have dropped a ton in the past year), so it'll have to wait until we have enough.

@ratchetqwark89: yea, most people miss that however if you want the achievment for vid-logs you have to find the secret room- also note it has the black maker as later in mercers room ther is a little statue of the red, around chapter 10 before the final hunter fight.

You know when you freeze time those aliens like you did at 9:40...your gun shots are moving faster then the speed of light lol...and the area around u still in your time dimension..I like freezing those creatures they won't know what hit them.
In short, the walkthrough is DONE and complaining about it isn't going to change anything. You still get Annetta's first time reactions, and there are still plenty of parts that freak the shit out of me ANYWAY, even though I knew the objectives and such. Give it a rest already. Just enjoy the damn videos. I don't appreciate spending the time MAKING the damn things, only to have ungrateful viewers bitching, moaning and essentially calling Part 4-up worthless. I could have just left it at 3 parts.

Yeah have to put my vote out there and say that it kinda sucks that you start knowing what you're doing. I loved your reactions in the first three parts.
Well, it wasn't originally intended to be a full walkthrough. It was only going to be the first 3 parts, but I received countless requests to do the rest of the game in the same style, so I obliged. Having finished the game by that point, I decided to do it as a more or less "proper" walkthrough, but still doing it "cinematically" for the benefit of the viewers who were watching for entertainment, and to scare the crap out of Annetta as much as possible. Sorry you're not enjoying it anymore.
Besides, even having played it before, there are still plenty of parts that still scare the shit out of me. It's a hella scary game. And just because I know where to go and what the main objectives are, doesn't make it any less intense than the first time through. If I had known beforehand that I would be doing a full walkthrough, I would have just recorded my first time all the way. But that's not how it worked out. No point "voting" one way or the other, it's long since done.
I've got to say it, even though I've been preceded by countless people in saying "holy crap you missed alot of shit!!!", and "I wish you had done your first reactions for the entire game". Having said that, I think your videos rock, and even though I've been thru the game like 1.33x, I'm still going to watch all of your videos. Also, if 4 and on you had already played the game, why in this vid do you ignore the stasis chargers on the wall? Just curious. Maybe you miss subtle stuff in this
game like I miss shit in Fallout 3 (stimpacks, books, etc).
Also, I've got some questions for you to answer:
-If the SH2 game had been made in 2009 with DS' graphics, and combat style (minus stasis and kinesis and alternate firing modes of course), which game would you prefer? I know for a fact I would love SH2 more, I almost do now because the psychological aspect is far superior to DS, and the ambience is almost on par. Obviously it has tech limitations, but it still rocks to this day.
Also, do you think RE6 copying off the DS series in terms of combat and making dismemberment key would be a good idea? Iirc I heard Capcom wants to go back to it's roots for 6, and scores of zombies that NEED headshots to kill (blasting off the arms and legs would make them harmless though:P) would rock. And moving while shooting, hopefully Capcom realizes forcing co-op on gamers won't fool them into being ok with that "innovation" again.

And what difficulty is this? Since the main slasher attacks barely take off one bar of health (with a non-upgraded lvl 1 suit no less) I know you didn't go thru on hard, I just hope you didn't pussy out and
choose easy. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. I just like playing on the hardest or 2nd hardest difficulty first, the hardest for sure if there is an unlockable one.
And speaking of that, did anyone start a new game +, save, start an impossible run but not save, and then realize the impossible dif dissapeared? I have a round 2 save, so idk why the game thru a bf, but I'm pissed I have to speed thru so I can get impossible again. At least I can get a bunch of trophies.

i Agree with SHEEPTHEHACK....... unfortunately, it was WAY more interesting the first 3 episodes because it felt like i was playing along with you: creeping around a lot, checking to see if these things crawl on the walls, moving cautiously, figuring out what exactly the objectives wants you to do, firing wildy when theres multiple enemies lol...... but now you just kind of stroll through it casually while commentating, kind of took the joy out of it. now all i want to do, is just get to the end
Uh..okaaaay. I NEVER just "stroll around casually." I creep around plenty, to help build the tension for both the viewer and Annetta. Even having played through the entire game, there are still TONS of parts that freak me out every time, moments where I still get overwhelmed and panicked by swarms of enemies. Just because I'm a bit more skilled by this point shouldn't make it less enjoyable. Plus as you play any game, you're going to get bolder as you get familiar with it.
You just naturally come to realize that certain parts AREN'T going to have something leap out at you any second, so you don't sneak around as much because you realize you don't have to. Then the game has something leap out at you anyway and scares the bejeezus out of even the most seasoned player. Even if I had continued recording my entire first time through, my play style would be very similar to what you see here. Anyway, sorry to hear you're no longer enjoying the series.
the first 3 parts were cool, but it seems from part 4.. u already knew what was coming.. like.. u knew when u hit the tram it was the end of the chapter.. so u clearly played it up till that point.. so ur reactions werent as genuine as the original 3 eps.. i do hope this isnt the same for the rest.. defeats the object.. its more about ur reactions and commentary than watching someone complete the game.. hope ur more surprised in future.. and these eps get better..

So yes, at this point I have actually finished the game twice, so I know what I'm doing. ANNETTA, however, has no clue what's coming most of the time. I agree on the atmosphere. I found myself praying that the game would end because it had an air of uncomfort lingering at every level. At the first few levels I could hardly even move because I was so freaked, but I grew past that and ended up blasting necromorphs then sleeping like a baby.
lol, I beat this game in 5 hours on hard diffucult. Lol I'm seriously, this game was so awesome like 5/5 but wasn't scary at all, just had some suspense which i enjoyed. I've played like 6 times more still cool
Hm, it's quite a good-looking game, but I must confess, the lifeforms do not look thát great.
They look a bit "old" in 3D-world, stiff faces and emotions and such things.
And I also didn't like how the insane woman's animation was scripted to one fixed point, not following the player as even much older games wére able to do.
And the monster-enemies are a bit silly, but I'm hoping to see more variation as I go through these videos. :)
Also, indeed weak about the mirror-thing... strange...
Yeah, the crazy people you encounter are scripted as you describe, but all the OTHER characters you meet up with follow you as you move around.
As you learn more about the creatures and what they actually are, perhaps they way they look will make a bit more sense.
The main thing, and what I think makes this game stand out, is just the sheer atmosphere of the whole thing. It really succeeds in creating a palpable sense of tension throughout, far more than other games I've played.
In short, every game has SOME technical shortcomings, but I think that given how strong the OVERALL experience is in Dead Space, I can easily forgive the few that crop up here and there.
I confess, though, I would have liked more variety in the creatures. Some of the bosses are quite impressive though, as you'll see later on. Ditto the larger creatures - they are pure intimidation!
It's not too bad no, but it annoys me for a game from post-2006.
The whole thing reminds me heavily of 'Half-Life: Blue Shift' in MANY aspects, a bit technically, a lot of the setting and characters... you might like that game, but it probably aged by now.
I agree about the latter too, I'm watching these movies and already many little things freak me out, but I have that easily anyway, let alone by myself.
I'm really attentive to little details and what's happening with them, so go figure. :)
Ummm..did you watch from the beginning?? They're TRAPPED there...they came to repair it, did a few things to figure out what was going on, then THEIR ship was blown up and they got stuck there.

As a good rule of thumb, yes it's ALWAYS a good idea to stomp the corpses just in case. But with these video onward, I've actually played through the game so I know when an Infector is around (most of the time...they're sneaky!) But having said that, I usually leave the corpses regardless for the video, to show what the Infectors do, and to make it that little extra bit scary. ;) Oh, and yes, there's nothing you can do to save that guy in the Nursery. The door's locked until after he's dead.

Medium difficulty. And it's called ATMOSPHERE, it's not just about being overwhelmed by monsters. If you actually watched from Part 1, instead of just picking some random video, watching 5 minutes, then leaving douchebag comments, you'd know that.
It isn't challenging at THIS point because I've played through the game twice. Sorry if my skills are too much for you to appreciate. Guess you don't know what you're doing, since you can't take down a Necromorph with two shots.
I left the difficulty at Medium for the video so I could show more of the GAME, and less of me dying dealing with the higher difficulty levels. The complete walkthrough is going to be about 36 parts as it is, no need to drag it out longer just to show off "mad skillz" in the higher difficulties. When I play for MYSELF, I play on Hard or Impossible now.
But clearly you missed the whole point of these videos (and games in general), which is...to have FUN. Everybody plays differently. Accept it.
Oh, and one final thing - 60 bucks, actually. And not a waste at all. For a game that ONLY has a single player campaign, I've got a LOT of playtime out of it so far, with plenty more to come. Best 60 bucks I've spent in a long time.

It got pretty mixed reviews, but I enjoyed it (maybe because I didn't have unrealistic expectations when I watched it). The animation is a bit better than TV animation, but not quite up to theatrical quality. The GORE, however, is amazing. If you're a gorehound at all, you won't be disappointed. The main thing, though, is the backstory. You want to start with the comics, which tell you what happened on the colony. Then Downfall tells you what happened on the Ishimura, and finally the game.

Hehehe! Yeah, Downfall is pretty intense! You definitely need a strong stomach. Even though it's animated, it still gets pretty gruesome in parts! I really enjoyed the animated comics. They just put out a hardcover collected editions of the original comics, I really need to get that.

No, it isn't really that hard. But with all the work that went into the atmosphere (plus the 60 bucks I paid for it the day after release), I wanted it to last a while. So even though I WANTED to keep going every night, I forced myself only to do a couple of Chapters a day max so it would last a little longer. Between that and taking a few days' breaks, I got nearly two weeks out of it my first time through. 18 hours of actual gameplay time, stretched out.
thats Awesome that you got so much time out of it. I started playing through again to get more achievements and its just as much fun. I love getting all my old equipment back from the beginning.
i wanted to do that, but i just couldnt put it down, even though it scared the friggen hell outta me, haha, ive never played a more messed up game, but i loved it

In short, the walkthrough is DONE and complaining about it isn't going to change anything. You still get Annetta's first time reactions, and there are still plenty of parts that freak the shit out of me ANYWAY, even though I knew the objectives and such. Give it a rest already. Just enjoy the damn videos. I don't appreciate spending the time MAKING the damn things, only to have ungrateful viewers bitching, moaning and essentially calling Part 4-up worthless. I could have just left it at 3 parts.

Whining to me about it isn't going to change the fact that the first 3 parts were my first time, and Part 4 onward were done later, after I had finished the game. Well, it wasn't originally intended to be a full walkthrough. It was only going to be the first 3 parts, but I received countless requests to do the rest of the game in the same style, so I obliged. Having finished the game by that point, I decided to do it as a more or less "proper" walkthrough, but still doing it "cinematically" for the benefit of the viewers who were watching for entertainment, and to scare the crap out of Annetta as much as possible. Sorry you're not enjoying it anymore.

Besides, even having played it before, there are still plenty of parts that still scare the shit out of me. It's a hella scary game. And just because I know where to go and what the main objectives are, doesn't make it any less intense than the first time through. If I had known beforehand that I would be doing a full walkthrough, I would have just recorded my first time all the way. But that's not how it worked out. No point "voting" one way or the other, it's long since done.

I've got to say it, even though I've been preceded by countless people in saying "holy crap you missed alot of shit!!!", and "I wish you had done your first reactions for the entire game". Having said that, I think your videos rock, and even though I've been thru the game like 1.33x, I'm still going to watch all of your videos. Also, if 4 and on you had already played the game, why in this vid do you ignore the stasis chargers on the wall? Just curious. Maybe you miss subtle stuff in this

Also, I've got some questions for you to answer:
-If the SH2 game had been made in 2009 with DS' graphics, and combat style (minus stasis and kinesis and alternate firing modes of course), which game would you prefer? I know for a fact I would love SH2 more, I almost do now because the psychological aspect is far superior to DS, and the ambience is almost on par. Obviously it has tech limitations, but it still rocks to this day.

Also, do you think RE6 copying off the DS series in terms of combat and making dismemberment key would be a good idea? Iirc I heard Capcom wants to go back to it's roots for 6, and scores of zombies that NEED headshots to kill (blasting off the arms and legs would make them harmless though:P) would rock. And moving while shooting, hopefully Capcom realizes forcing co-op on gamers won't fool them into being ok with that "innovation" again.

choose easy. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. I just like playing on the hardest or 2nd hardest difficulty first, the hardest for sure if there is an unlockable one.
And speaking of that, did anyone start a new game +, save, start an impossible run but not save, and then realize the impossible dif dissapeared? I have a round 2 save, so idk why the game thru a bf, but I'm pissed I have to speed thru so I can get impossible again. At least I can get a bunch of trophies.

I still like your vids from part 4. I play the game since last week and i really enjoy it but it somehow is enjoyable as well to watch you play and to see how anetta reacts. Greetings to her at this point. What i asked myself several times was: Does she play Videogames as well? I think to watch somebody play dead space needs some dedication to Videogames. i Agree with SHEEPTHEHACK....... unfortunately, it was WAY more interesting the first 3 episodes because it felt like i was playing along with you: creeping around a lot, checking to see if these things crawl on the walls, moving cautiously, figuring out what exactly the objectives wants you to do, firing wildy when theres multiple enemies lol...... but now you just kind of stroll through it casually while commentating, kind of took the joy out of it. now all i want to do, is just get to the end

Uh..okaaaay. I NEVER just "stroll around casually." I creep around plenty, to help build the tension for both the viewer and Annetta. Even having played through the entire game, there are still TONS of parts that freak me out every time, moments where I still get overwhelmed and panicked by swarms of enemies. Just because I'm a bit more skilled by this point shouldn't make it less enjoyable. Plus as you play any game, you're going to get bolder as you get familiar with it.

You just naturally come to realize that certain parts AREN'T going to have something leap out at you any second, so you don't sneak around as much because you realize you don't have to. Then the game has something leap out at you anyway and scares the bejeezus out of even the most seasoned player. Even if I had continued recording my entire first time through, my play style would be very similar to what you see here. Anyway, sorry to hear you're no longer enjoying the series.

the first 3 parts were cool, but it seems from part 4.. u already knew what was coming.. like.. u knew when u hit the tram it was the end of the chapter.. so u clearly played it up till that point.. so ur reactions werent as genuine as the original 3 eps.. i do hope this isnt the same for the rest.. defeats the object.. its more about ur reactions and commentary than watching someone complete the game.. hope ur more surprised in future.. and these eps get better..

As the descriptions and titles should make obvious, this was only intended to be the first 3 parts originally. But since I received so many requests to do more, I decided to do a proper walkthrough. So yes, at this point I have actually finished the game twice, so I know what I'm doing. ANNETTA, however, has no clue what's coming most of the time. Plus the fact that I finished it doesn't change the fact that it still "gets" me a lot. The game is DAMN scary, even after you've finished it.

I agree on the atmosphere. I found myself praying that the game would end because it had an air of uncomfort lingering at every level. At the first few levels I could hardly even move because I was so freaked, but I grew past that and ended up blasting necromorphs then sleeping like a baby.

I dont realy have to worry about HD much, I mainly play on PC, My pc can run the game better than the console can.
It only cost me $500 on ebay (only without a monitor). The only bad thing is that Im using windows 7.
Its great but alot of games are non compatible or buggy.

Hm, it's quite a good-looking game, but I must confess, the lifeforms do not look thát great.
They look a bit "old" in 3D-world, stiff faces and emotions and such things.
And I also didn't like how the insane woman's animation was scripted to one fixed point, not following the player as even much older games wére able to do.
And the monster-enemies are a bit silly, but I'm hoping to see more variation as I go through these videos. :)
Also, indeed weak about the mirror-thing... strange...

Yeah, the crazy people you encounter are scripted as you describe, but all the OTHER characters you meet up with follow you as you move around.
As you learn more about the creatures and what they actually are, perhaps they way they look will make a bit more sense.
The main thing, and what I think makes this game stand out, is just the sheer atmosphere of the whole thing. It really succeeds in creating a palpable sense of tension throughout, far more than other games I've played.

In short, every game has SOME technical shortcomings, but I think that given how strong the OVERALL experience is in Dead Space, I can easily forgive the few that crop up here and there.
I confess, though, I would have liked more variety in the creatures. Some of the bosses are quite impressive though, as you'll see later on. Ditto the larger creatures - they are pure intimidation!

It's not too bad no, but it annoys me for a game from post-2006.
The whole thing reminds me heavily of 'Half-Life: Blue Shift' in MANY aspects, a bit technically, a lot of the setting and characters... you might like that game, but it probably aged by now.
I agree about the latter too, I'm watching these movies and already many little things freak me out, but I have that easily anyway, let alone by myself.
I'm really attentive to little details and what's happening with them, so go figure. :)

Ummm..did you watch from the beginning?? They're TRAPPED there...they came to repair it, did a few things to figure out what was going on, then THEIR ship was blown up and they got stuck there.

As a good rule of thumb, yes it's ALWAYS a good idea to stomp the corpses just in case. But with these video onward, I've actually played through the game so I know when an Infector is around (most of the time...they're sneaky!) But having said that, I usually leave the corpses regardless for the video, to show what the Infectors do, and to make it that little extra bit scary. ;) Oh, and yes, there's nothing you can do to save that guy in the Nursery. The door's locked until after he's dead.

I left the difficulty at Medium for the video so I could show more of the GAME, and less of me dying dealing with the higher difficulty levels. The complete walkthrough is going to be about 36 parts as it is, no need to drag it out longer just to show off "mad skillz" in the higher difficulties. When I play for MYSELF, I play on Hard or Impossible now.
But clearly you missed the whole point of these videos (and games in general), which is...to have FUN. Everybody plays differently. Accept it.

It got pretty mixed reviews, but I enjoyed it (maybe because I didn't have unrealistic expectations when I watched it). The animation is a bit better than TV animation, but not quite up to theatrical quality. The GORE, however, is amazing. If you're a gorehound at all, you won't be disappointed. The main thing, though, is the backstory. You want to start with the comics, which tell you what happened on the colony. Then Downfall tells you what happened on the Ishimura, and finally the game.

Hehehe! Yeah, Downfall is pretty intense! You definitely need a strong stomach. Even though it's animated, it still gets pretty gruesome in parts! I really enjoyed the animated comics. They just put out a hardcover collected editions of the original comics, I really need to get that.

No, it isn't really that hard. But with all the work that went into the atmosphere (plus the 60 bucks I paid for it the day after release), I wanted it to last a while. So even though I WANTED to keep going every night, I forced myself only to do a couple of Chapters a day max so it would last a little longer. Between that and taking a few days' breaks, I got nearly two weeks out of it my first time through. 18 hours of actual gameplay time, stretched out.
