And now, quite ironically, NBC Universal has unveiled a plan (more precisely the NBC Universal Evolution Plan) to sell of a large portion of its historic backlot and turn it into luxury housing and commercial development. I thought NBC and Universal were in the entertainment production business, not the luxury real estate one.
@simpsonsj Yeah, the original plan was to build the new broadcast center across the street from the Universal Studios lot, on top of the Metro Rail subway station. Of course, instead, it'll be in the Universal complex, most likely converting one of the existing soundstages into the NBC west coast headquarters (along with the local base of operations for KNBC-TV and Telemundo's KVEA). Leno's staying in Burbank until at least 2014.
Might Brian Williams and "Nightly News" relocate West??
That way, he could do the two "feeds" from Universal City at 3:30 and 6:30 P.M. Pacific time, and still be home at a reasonable hour.
