  • I played one of the SWAT/SAS guys in this pilot and about five other extra parts too! it was filmed JUN/AUG 2007 in Glasgow. was a good laugh and i got paid £120 a time because i was a special purpose extra..and got to meet Carl Weathers too! haha! but to be honest i can see why it got canned..its really doctor who meets..Kung Fu. Really just a sort of poor mans Doctor Who if you will.

  • its all about timing, currently Kiss Ass with similar iconography is the bees kness, Phoo Action suffered from being too 80's when the 80's were as hipas they are know and looking like a Kill Bill rip off didn't help,I LIKED Phoo Sction and wanted more butsadly no

  • It looks like it could have been a seriously sexy comedy-noir programme, if given the right budget, a good director and a serious of good writers. Unfortunately it did fall short - It still has potential, if it's done right- especially in terms of the cinematography.

  • it had the potential to be the most amazing show in the world! Climb up Harry there's room on my horse for two! Genius

  • It was completely awful but, in fairness, I am sorry that the series has been canned because I might just love Jaime Winstone.

  • The pilot ad some nice moments, I particularly liked the dance bit. I didn't really enjoy it however and was amazed it went to series.

In case you didn't hear however the series was pulled last week and the show will NOT be made. A member of the crew was quoted in the press as saying they weren't surprised as it was, I quote, "a load of old shit".

I just hope that more projects like this one come to Scotland. I'm shooting my own films to spice things up in the interum. See my vids for info!

  • wtf? seriously odd

  • How come in Martial arts things like this the hero is always dressed like Bruce Lee in Game of Death?

  • I wanted to watch the pilot they aird but never got round to do it.

Lucky they are making it a series so enough people must've thought it was good enough to watch.

Jamie Winstone looks great in this!

  • wtf was like i was on drugs watching that lol

  • i love the phoo action i want a series

  • W10 LDN much better

  • W10 LDN

  • shit on a stick, with the shit on both ends so you can't pick it up

  • It started really poorly then kinda picked up. It had some very good moments. I really think it would benefit from mixing cell animation into it in places to give it a bit more of a KER-POW!! in places.

  • being human was indeed better but this is very good too...

  • Being Human was far more conventional TV and so was easier to digest and I'd agree that the first 20 minutes of Phoo Action appeared to be some of the worst, most incompetent TV ever... But soon the invention and silliness makes you see it for what it really is -- a counter-culture comic in one fluid motion without the picture frames and speech bubbles, and once you adapted to this philosophy, it was actually pretty good.

  • Being Human is a thousand times better.. this is just an acid trip.

  • Being Human was better.

  • What a load of Shit!

  • I can see people's opinions are quite divided on this one, personally, I loved it! It had that kind of Batman and Robin feel too it, (the one that had the POW's and WHACK's and stuff! Lol! As a matter of fact that's all it was missing!) it was all a bit weird but I think that helped it. On the flip side, also quite taken by Being Human. Personally I'd like to see both shows make it into series format.

  • The only thing that was good about the show was the theme tune, and even that got annoying after a while

  • this looks way to weird and gimicky, like the costumes with that guy with a basketball head... WTH??? looks like the old bat-man series!

  • Seems like the usual British love of the underdog with Being Human, not that it wasn't proficient TV but that's all it was, nothing I've not seen before. The reception to Phoo Action has been split down the middle with people either loving or hating it which shows it's got something. Let's see what happens.

  • I'd like to see more of show's like 'Being Human' - it was clever, well done TV, and the last time we saw that was Channel 4's Ultraviolet in the 90's.

(Being Human needed work, it was a pilot)

Phoo Action needed work, a greater budget and sharper scripting: To much attention was given to the comic book feel, you need tighter storylines for TV.

I suspect, given how much of a media-darling Jamie Hewlett is, Phoo Action will get all the publicity as people try and out-Nathan Barley him.

  • I agree, Being Human was very mainstream fodder for it's target audience and that's not what I'm personally into but it would be stupid of the BBC not to put it on BBC2 as well as having a hopefully tightened up Phoo Action on BBC3.

  • 'mainstream fodder' if that is what you call clever, witty, well thought out writting universaly first class performances from the cast (Russell Tovey was awesome), accomplished direction and a very clever use of music then Being Human is guilty as charged. That level of quality is very rare on TV today, so it should be cherished.

  • Well this looks crap. 'Being Human' is WAY better!

  • What a waste of time and money this was.

Caught this on BBC3 when it was shown again after the weak launch of BBC3. It was like a live-action Beano comic - The acting was shitty, the writing was awful. Add to that, half of the stuff in this show was robbed from decent Movies and TV Shows. None of it was funny, it was just as bad as anything BBC3 has shown since it began.

Well done BBC, you've successfully made Carl Weathers look like a tool and slammed his career into a grave.

  • What about Monkey Dust? - That was good.

I still remember Carl Weathers and his muscular arms from Predator! - SHAKING HANDS WID' ARNIE, LAD, OOH E'S ARM WRASSLIN' 'IM NOW!

  • Okay, I'll admit Monkey Dust was a good show but it's been that long since it aired I've more or less forgotten about the later episodes. Only one series on DVD yet every series and a laugh-free live show of Mighty Boosh have had DVD releases.

    LOL!

  • This was shockingly bad. That they commisioned a series before giving the other dramas in the season a fair chance reflects very badly on BBC3. Me thinks they may be left with egg on their face, considering how well Being Human was recieved compared to this, it was leagues ahead in quality, it is already on its way to becoming a cult after one pilot episode. A decision BBC3 may live to regret.

  • Yeh this def reminded me of the Mighty Boosh. But to be honest that show is startin to suk. This is way better, i loved how they took the piss outta the princes. too funny!

  • this looks very rubbish

  • Totally. Here's the best part! - This show bombed. Deservedly so. On BBC 3(!) of all places. 232, 000 Viewers at 9pm on a Tuesday night? On a Digital TV Channel? Lawlz. Whoever commissioned this show to an entire series is the one trying to bring down the BBC from the inside.

I swear, the BBC Spokeswoman who confirmed this show to be "Original" and "Bold" needs to be sought out amongst her peers and put out of her misery.

  • This show is a cult thing and appears to be like marmite. You either love it or you hate it. I LOVED Phoo Action and I'm looking forward to the full series.

  • Its not. Watch it then share your thoughts on Phoo Action!

  • I remember this piece of shit when it was called The Mighty Boosh. If you're going to rip off Japanese cinema/animation from the seventies at least *do* it right.

  • Actually, it IS based on a british comic strip.

  • That reminds me. I'll have to ask both the readers ( Otherwise sole fanbase. ) of that British comic strip if it is any good or not. I remember the artwork from that forgotten Gorillaz art-deco SUPER FUNTIME IN THE SUNSHINE Blur wank pool about six years ago. Nobody care back then, either.

  • This should be wayy more than a pilot. I loved it so much and Whitey is ridiculously hot.

  • Damn straight!

  • Saw the show last night, absolutely loved it! its up there with the Mighty Boosh in wackiness and original comedy, and the dance scenes and music throughout give it the feel of a slick music video at times. 10/10

Cant wait for the series to air.

  • Loooved it :)

    Very good

    and Jaime's hair is awesome

    I want it seriously.

  • PHOO ACTION, AWESOME STUFF!

  • Also, why on earth ha sthe Beeb resdesigned the inbewteen-show-bits?! BRING BACK THE LITTLE RED SLUG THINGS! BRING THEM BACK, OR ELSE I'LL KICK YOU!!!

  • people called then "Cold and shouty" i personally liked them the new ones a bit to 'feminie'(SP) for my taste (Im not being sexist - its just what i think !)

  • It is very pink. And i'm a girl. A girl who LIKES pink!

I just like the little sluggy things! They were funny!

  • It was... bizare. Very very bizzare.

    But I liked it.

    I liked it a lot.

  • I watched the show and liekd it alot. Once you get over the sillyness its a great show. The cast and music were coool. I loved the Princes making fools of themselves! And Carl, Jamie and Eddie did a great job! I liked the silly dancing bits, made it more chilled out. Bring on the series and more Carl please!

  • They're making a series!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!

  • Are they? Yassssssssssss.... :D

  • I live in the west of Scotland and I was looking forward to watching Phoo Action and Lily Allen and Friends but the sound went all wierd for some unknown reason. It was like that on all the TVs in my house and they all have different ariels. The sound is ok now though. Maybe it had something to do with where I live? Apart from that I thought Phoo Action was amazing. I hope it gets made into a series :D It reminded me slightly of The Mighty Boosh (Please move it to BBC 2 because it's amazing) Bye

  • this is soo awesome

  • that show is soooo awful

  • being human looks good too.

but why is bbc three being relaunched???

they should play that advert again with them men in the golf caddy.

  • I Tink Foo Action was AWESOME oh and it's DELIBRATLET TRASHILY MADE you fools!!!! But great show with a great cast MAKE IT BEEB PLEEEEEEAAAAAASE

  • I thought this kinda ruled in several ways. Combine the tank girl comix with 60's batman and power rangers and there you go.

Characters were all good except the girl. In a program with all style and no content, you've got to get a decent caricature going for your one liners, know what I mean?

  • I've watched it twice now and if anything there's maybe too much content. It's hard to take in all the ideas because it's made to look so trashy. Up the budget now they've got a show! Bet they cut the money like they did to Boosh though. Let's see what they do next.

  • No way I thought the girl was wiked lol

  • I didn't like this at all. It was too... Silly's the only word I can use.

  • The royals in this seem exactly like how I imagine them to behave.

  • This was amazeing just very laid back and fun i hope this is made into a series and is released on dvd sometime jamie looks really fit in this as well and she is a great actress also in kidulthood and daddys girl

  • See it, it is fantastic. Jaime Winstoen is great and looking fine. All the other cast is cracking. I can't believe they got Carl Weathers he made it so cool. would now like to read to the comic book and watch Jaime in other stuff. Soundtrack was cool. Like the Lancia.

  • lmao, the house that Carl Weathers lived in was my cousins =D i watched the prog from the room where the tv was a telephone :P and i was watching the tv in the tv :D

    it was well funny :P

  • i saw this, it was ok...

    the girl was hot!

  • You'd be disappointed if you saw her without the wig...

  • what the fuck was that bollocks on last night? the bbc have been drinking too much la la.

  • o.o its like the boosh but even trippier..

  • it was a load of bollocks and a waste of tv license

  • I think its too obviously trying to become a cult show like the boosh. Twas mildly entertaining at best.

  • Seen it-loved it-want it on DVD, even though i taped it, that's all i have to say ^_^

And i liked that they've added a Gorillaz track to the show XD

  • I thought it was awesome i really hope it gets a full series.

  • tarentino should have done it ;-)

  • apart from that, whitey action is really yummy, but the actress played her too 'bubblegum teenage', the comic book character's got much more charisma, she s cynical, not a rebel teen. terry phoo, is alright. the freebies are alright, it s cool to make them look like muppets, really. so in the end, my opinion is, if you ve got to make a follow-up, concentrate on the charisma, make it more stylish, 'Avengers' style maybe. This is not only for kids.

  • honestly, i ve got all episodes of original comic, and I my opinion is really split. some things were really awesome, some dynamic effects, like when the phoomobile is on the road, or parts of the fights, or when they dance together... those looked say 'vintage'. i think the whole movie should be 'crapped' to look maybe a bit more 'super 8', more dirty. sometimes the quality of the image was too good, it made it look cheap in a bad way, like, too new

  • Ooh there's some right miseries on here. I LOL'd my ass off. Nice job Hewlett, BBC and co. It's just a shame it's some weird competition thing with Being Human. Can't they make em both and scrap East Enders?

  • I caught the last 5 mins of the show, but frome what I saw it looked to damn cheap. Thoses power ranger puppet monster were rediculous. It's a shame because you seem to have a great cast. This would have been better as an animation.

I'm going to reserve full judgment till I see a complete ep, but I'm not too hopeful.

  • mmmmm. was looking forward to it, and i even made a comment about how low budget can be good to give things a style. But i could not get my head around those bad guy puppets, they alone stopped me loving this show. i know the comics look great but they need to translate it better to film and give it a bit more depth. i'll watch again though and hope to be converted fully.

  • It was awesome! I hope they turn it into a new show, well if they do it properly.

  • potential, but lacked real wit.

  • i may have been drunk while watching phoo action, i had this date in my book for the last three weeks, friends birthday collided with it, and phoo actions is awsomeness in a can, i said every i have been saying this last year and what i was saying tonight while drunk, it didnt just speak to me but actualy took thoughts from friends of mine, scottish luchadors? check out biff saxon on youtube and scottish luchador is present.

  • loved phoo action xx

"i will carry on critising further phoo action videos when they come on to youtube"

    lol.. that's really sad

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Thanks for all your comments. Keep telling us what you think about the new BBC Three drama pilots.

  • Sorry, but this was just awful. I watched most of it with my mouth open. It was like a bad version of power rangers. Really stupid - not sure who it's meant to be aimed at. Can only see it appealing to boys who read comics.

  • Why is there no trailer on here for Being Human? (The vampire one) That's the one most people seem to be interested in and that's the only one we can't preview!

  • here's some real japanese action

    watch?v=JC-ATG1YWnE

  • just watched this, thought it was great for what it was. disapointed its not a series though. any idea when the other 5 pilot episodes are being shown? i know one is on monday but thats about it.

  • I loved this. Is it a one off episode or series ??

  • i thought it was good :\

  • i just watched it but im not sure if its just a one off thing i really enjoyed it

  • cbbc on at 9 tonight on bbc three

  • I can really see this failing in the first series, it will just be another BBC three bollocks comedy made by and for morons.

and if it has a laughter track I swear to god will shoot someone.

  • its on now and the audience are tutting and walking off hehe

  • "The audience" Where are you watching this ? Your imaginary friends dont count as audience members, Now go get a life, and if you dont like something dont freaking watch and comment ! turd.

  • quiet you alexbaw.get it into your thick skull that tv critics do exist.hello? anyone in there? taps alex on the skull hehehe

  • yeah critics exist, but there old w**kers who cant understand/get into the mind of a young person watching this kind of show, so they bitch bitch bitch about it

  • hmmmmm.aha! hehehe.now i will carry on critising further phoo action videos when they come on to youtube.hmmmm yes thatll do nicely

  • admit it.the show is rubbish

  • if you dont fucking like it dont watch it gosh. i wont be replying to your cunty comments anymore !

  • Why dont people like you shut the hell up and not watch the shows (everyone knows you do cos you have opinons of them) and just not watch or comment about them ??

  • well said

  • and you can shut up too yer crony

  • And you stop chatting crap then maybe no one will have to say anything to you. And btw, in regards to your other comment.. its Alexlaw45 to you. not Alexbaw or Alex

  • your a emotionally controlled sort eh?

  • this looks great! seems that they've got a lancia stratos as well!

  • I love Hewlett's stuff but his creations never seem to translate well to live action.. remember the Tank Girl movie?! hmmm. Hopefully this will turn out ot be different.

  • its on tonight isnt it? is it just a one off?

  • yayy! crazy stuff man...

  • another flop

  • no.despite its upcoming bad ratings, the bbc will ignorantly make another series

  • this looks really good i can't wait. And ,sorry to get all blokey but, she looks well fit in them hotpants!

  • Looks like something thats destined to be one series long and I'm a longtime Hewlet fan.

  • i ve got almost all the 'the face' with those series in, i collected them just for the comic. i m super excited. i hope it stays true to the original, but the trailer looks a bit experimental, should be nice

  • i agree, the budget for the mighty boosh is ridiculous, if they gave it a better slot and raised the budget i bet it'd get twice as many viewers. it's still low budget in series three.

  • But it's the low budget and slight tack of the show that gives it such appeal to me. i think a full budget with smooth corners and a fully polished production would ruine it. and it would probably ruine Phoo Action too. we will just have to wait and see

  • If the BBC stopped making crap like Eastenders they might have some more money to make a few more decent series.

  • it really hacks me off how rich the bbc are and how low the producton value of their shows are...their house ads are better than their shows and that's disgraceful. they need to nurture talent but they refuse to.

life on mars is by far the best original program they've ever backed and even that had a budget that limited it severely.

  • Looks dreadful. And I really like Hewlett too.

  • They done a good job keeping Jamie's style. I think I might enjoy this one...

  • it's abit less like two girls and one cup than I imagined...

  • its well surreal. like mighty boosh

  • ACE!!!

  • Ooh, ooh I saw another trailer on BBC1. In it Whitey says something like "You do the kicking, I'll do the thinking!". It was fast and furious and I like!

  • Can't wait for it! Looks great. The basketball-for-a-head dude is wicked cool, too.

  • Look like we'll be in for a such a fun time aren't we Hewell fans XD

  • Less Boosh, more Avengers, the Prisoner, that kind of thing. Great to see the Freebies are still in there. With the name change. worried they had been dropped.

  • This looks very odd indeed. xD Keep it coming, I like!

  • O.o

woah, i wasnt ezpecting that. of all things. but it looks well cool. nice goin' Hewlett!

  • No I saw Weathers too, and Les Dawson! Not based on Boosh, based on Hewlett comic, Bat Man, Kubrik, Bruce Lee, the Banana Splits and god knows what else from the look of this... Cheap whizz? Bad acid more like.

  • Did i spot carl weathers at about 0:33?

Its either that or i'm seeing him everywhere i look, again.

  • its been based on boosh it seems...

oh well, if feilding wont give us somthing harder at least now we've got cheap whizz to keep us satisfyed,

    jim

  • Apart from actually being based on a comic strip from the mid-nineties, you mean.
