Rastas never Die - Check out Nkulee Dube - dawta of Lucky - dawta of Zion - dawta of Africa - She is continuing Rasta business - Reggae Princess - Jah Love
We miss you Lucky Dube! You were our inspiration. Music is just not the same anymore. Now we have all of these young people listening to music with profanity in it. The music of today is not real music. I love to listen to music of the 1970's up to the 1990s. That was when real music broke out. R.IP to Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Bob Marley and all other great musicians of the past.
I don't think Lucky Dube was saying that women should be submissive to men with this song, I think he was playing the role of the people in his society who held those views, and then contrasting it to the chorus with the women saying that they want to be free and have equality. I think he was supporting the search of women for equality, just doing it in a more subtle way.
The righteous preacher of the world is right on this song bcos women should play their role as a woman........over my dead body would i wash clothes...
I don't know what to say, but may Jah he praised for such an extra ordinary being that he gave us.....and now, he is resting in the bossom of our lord...........
You were next to non, I will live to love you Mr. Lucky Dube. I pray that God may forgive you for wrongs you may have inflicted on people in a quest to spread the word.
I think Lucky was wrong about the social ideology between men and women. During the traditional Igbo though, for example, women were the bread winner to the family.
you are very right, this song is 20yrs old, Lucky changed his mind many times. It's one thing I admired most about him, he was constantly evolving as a man, a husband a father and a musician, he was not dogmatic, he was a student of life i miss him much. Beautiful tune though from album together as one. He would probably life at himself listening to this, he would also punch anyone in the face if they suggested his daughters be housewife or subservient to any man
miss youre music lucky when i go too heaven i hope too see you and hear you sing again youre the best love you miss you much love sandra danny from groningen
I think so too; I LOVED that man's face. What a loss of a voice and a beautiful human being. He tried soooooo hard to get and do things 'right'. May we meet him again in a beautiful, cleansed, paradise earth. ...til then....
otherwise he wouldn't let the women sing this refrain. lucky was respectful towards everyone.

"over my dead body il wash clothes for a woman"i respect u but that is no way to treat ladies..but you want a lady to be taking care of you..rip

I think he just sings out of the position of a macho. he would actually never say something like "woman, go back in the kitchen".
