  • Where can I get a copy of this show?

  • @dequadim It's on a cd called Sylvian/fripp- Damage

  • @Gnoopher I have it, but I wish the DVD show.

  • @Gnoopher I've deleted your message for error. I'm sorry. Let me know where to get it for my iPod ;-)

  • 2:21 best solo ever?

  • sylvain reminds me that you don't have to sing high to sound good! would he make it on american idol? someone get mr. fripp a strap so he can stand up while he plays! :O)

  • @jamesedwardtheobald LOL He is wearing a strap! I've never seen Robert play standing up. The last time I saw K.C. He sat off to the side and wasn't even under a light. At least here, the adience can see him!

  • Definitely one of my desert island albums!

  • One of my Desert Island albums!

  • One of my Desert Island albums!

  • Isn`t this cool that the short time of this work produced great music and then evolved into a long run of the most recent version of KC. Thanks David for hooking them all up. Pat gives the blessing of the future at the end of the song.

  • Wow... wonderful playing, but hilarious how POLITE the whole thing is! Flowers, twee little handshakes - fabulous! Fripp in his tidy suit is a great foil to Sylvian looking androgynous and wonderful. I miss this kind of music.

  • Buy don't forget Sylvian with Japan doing "I second that emotion"

  • Nobody like Robert Fripp!!!!!!!

  • good video !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is KING CRIMSON shut up, I know.

  • David N°1 forever

  • Don't quite know how to say this, but Sylvian's quiet, discrete passion is just such a fantastic match to the other guys' wild, space-age virtuos genius. Every time I listen to them I am sooo enrichened!

  • Mick Karn is a very good bass player with great articulation on fretless, but he would not be a fit for Crimson because he does not read music nor does he know chords! Tony Levin has "rejoined" KC, and he musically can run rings around Mick Karn. That does not take away from Mick's fine playing in any other context, however...

  • Neither one of them was in this band, however.

  • Good point! I was only responding to the comment below about a meeting of Japan and KC. I saw the KC double-trio with Levin and Gunn in the mid-90's.

  • russumm1, Mick Karn always made chords: what are you saying? I play the bass since decades, believe me: you don't know mick karn. Besides that, honestly making chords on bass doesn't mean technical proveness. There are plenty of five-to-one people making a lot of bloody boring useless chords believing they are Jaco Pastorius.

  • @hoxvoxbox Actually, I am on your side! Mick Karn is a very musical bassist with a great fretless sound. Mick was in David Torn's touring Cloud About Mercury quartet, and that group had problems because Mick doesn't read music and didn't technically understand the music's chordal structure. As I mentioned in my post, this does not take away from Mick's fine playing in any other context (Japan, Dali's Car, Polytown, his solo work, etc.). I hope that he survives his awful enslaught of cancer.

  • Japan and KC? WOW, what would crimson be like with Mick Karn?

  • i liiiiike it

  • i hate to be pedantic but credit where credit is due...this was a david sylvian vehicle rather than king crimson featuring guests vocals by sylvian...the project was after all credited as Sylvian/Fripp...

  • David Sylvian wooooooooo

  • Fripp actually asked David to join KC, but David declined...

  • Sad but true. Alas!

  • I used to borrow a mate's copy of the EP that this song appeared on (shortly after "The First Day" album was released).....this is the (Dead) Bee's Knees LOL.....I've introduced a few of my drum students to this stuff....it certainly opened their ears up, for sure! Dave, please, please NEVER give up writing your otherworldly music, it'd be a very sad day if you ever did

  • Pure Crimson.

  • Comment removed

  • i am certain that sylvian covered "all tomorrows parties" and that i had the ep back in the day. chris: if anyone would have it it would certainly have to be you. if so. could you possibly post? every artist from a to z has covered said song but sylvian's is my absolute favourite: and this includes the orignal velvet undergound recording.

  • Japan did indeed record a cover of 'All Tomorrow's...'which appeared on the Quiet Life Album.

As far as I can remember there isn't any video footage of it.

Japan also recorded 'Venus In Furs', which never saw the light of day...

  • ...really? i wonder why. i think out of all the various artist's that have covered "all tomorrows parties" (and they are considerable)

japan's was perfection. of course EVERYTHING sylvian does is golden.

  • yes sylvian has covered "all tomorrows parties". It exists a "normal" version and an extended version, where are on the double pack cd assemblage+quiet life, solded in 1995.

  • "....my strenght is coming back...."

    love this verse :)

  • Fripp is so mystic

  • If only Sylvian would have joined Crimson and two more releases would have followed.Who knows the Blessings they would have Bestowed upon us all!!!

  • Very funky. I like it!

  • Unbelievable!!!Fripp shaking hands with the audience and smiling!!!

  • hi, it's really perfect and andrenalin fell of from pat mastelotto befor

  • When it it comes to excellence of technique in playing a musical instrument I know nothing. Even if you do not like this song, watching the musicians display their craft is amazing. Every time I watch this clip the more I love it.

  • And Trey makes the Stick sound good. That in itself is quite a feat. ;) Agreed, the technique of these musicians is out of this world.

  • Nevermind ya'll answered it before hand my bad!

  • Hey is that one guy in the background playing a "Stick"?

  • Yes, he does - it's not a Warr Guitar - it's really a Chapman Stick ^^

  • Damage is the best stuff that Fripp & Co. have done in long time...

    In my opinion of course!

  • Great stuff,check my video's for more Sylvian/Fripp!

  • great video but the sound of fripps' guitar is definetly unlistenable.. i hate that

  • I thought the drummer was "corpse grinder"

  • Excelente video!! casi king crimson completo!!

  • Oh yeah. Sylvian and Fripp!

Very envious to the people who saw this tour live.

  • I saw King Crimson in Toronto in 2003,

  • Imagine a Crimson without Belew...

  • What do you mean?

  • This is Fripp's reincarnation of the band King Crimson, on drums is current Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto and on stick is current Crimson stick player Trey Gunn, in effect only Adrian Belew is missing. Which is the current line up since the Crimson ProjeKct experimental phase of King Crimson.

  • trey moved on ages ago, rather than new blood t.levin is back

  • I wish I could be there.

  • Robert Fripp is the greatest guitar player in the world period! Love the vocals too!!

  • Great video. This must be, what, 1992? 1993? Absolutely love the vocals and the song is, of course, jamming. I mean, could we really expect less from Fripp & Company (regardless of what company that is?)

  • awesome

  • Yeah!, great staff:The best "progremusic".. Trey Gunn (Grand Stick), Pat Mastelotto (drums), Michael Brook (guitar) & David Sylvian (vocals, guitar, keyboards) + Robert Fripp (guitar, Frippertronics) Close to King Crimson actual line up--

  • where did ds come from? never heard of him. he is incredible

  • if you like to trace Mr. Sylvian's way try looking for " Japan", late albums sound much like this stuff here (and some better)
