The media didn't exactly crown Elvis King. That was bestowed upon him by his fans and many of his fellow musicians and the media simply picked up on that. Jackson self-anointed himself 'King of Pop' by requiring Oprah Winfrey to refer to him that way in exchange for appearing on her show. His fans never referred to him as KOP until that appearance but I always thought of Jackson as being the king of pretention because of the sad way in which he turned his career into a joke.
@mr 007 JH....You were SO LUCKY to have seen Elvis LIVE!!! And 5 TIMES!!! I'm so envious! :-D I don't even LIKE the popular music nowadays that people my age like (rap, rock, etc.) I do like some '80s and '90s country artists and a lot of the '80s "metal hair bands", but NOBODY will EVER come close to ELVIS in my heart <3

Another great song that got no air play.RCA`s marketing of Elvis in the 70`s really BLEW!!You really had to hunt to find out what was going on with his records!
First time hearing -old fan (65 here) love all his music & his blessing of letting us hear it-- he's here with us all-so many legends of great music-my life has been blessed with the greatest sounds from the 20's & up--totally love all music-dance--even Bach-& on-Yanni=-River dance--so much
The rerelease of "THAT'S ALRIGHT" became ELVIS' 21st number one hit finally knocking the Beatles off the top spot for most number ones on Billboard's Singles Sales Chart.
Alot of songs, like this one could have been huge hits but for some reason ELVIS' record company didn't push them. They obviously were already making huge bucks off of him then and they still are now. The new number ones "A LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION", 2002; "RUBBERNECKING", 2003; "THAT'S ALRIGHT", 2004 and "HEARTBREAK HOTEL", 2006 is proof that ELVIS' legend hasn't waned in the years since his death.
I've been an Elvis fan for a few years too, and I've found a lot of his videos (a lot that aren't heard of much or not as popular) that I've never heard of before....they're GREAT!!! Just like the man himself....a legend....I was born a year after he died....would've LOVED to see him live in concert.... :-)
I saw him 5 times... Always awesome. Rare treat. - Saw him in 72' - sporting a longer hair cut but looked like the Elvis that just shot the movie "Fun in Acapulco". I can’t get the vision out of my head, wonderful times. I too wish you could have witnessed that.
For those of you who are just discovering some of Elvis' lesser known songs, you are in for a real treat because there are lots of them. A lot of the seventies songs are overlooked, a time when he sang with such soul and passion.
This song has been part of my life since my childood when I got the Promised Land cassette...but funny, it wasn't until 2006 that it meant SOOOOooo much to me in it's FULL emotions...miss you Joby, forever ):

I remember a DJ about 20 years ago who used to play this song every night on the Peaceful Hour. He loved he song. I like it when DJs play not so well known Elvis songs. Not that I dont like his singles, I like most of what he did but there are so many great songs that people have never heard except for the die-hard fans. I dont think there is an Elvis song that I haven't heard yet but I would like to be surprised.
@TheLisa03 I agree. I love all his songs but now I love to hear the not so oftern heard ones. One of my favorites is I'LL BE HOME ON CHRISTMAS DAY alt take 4
except for the line 'another guy' this song has put my feelings and thoughts into music when it comes to several relationships. I also tried to loose my mind in the countryside but always thought about her..
Are you kidding? I could listen to this song over and over again. It's another one of those "unheard of" Elvis songs...... I've been an Elvis fan for years and yet I still disocver new songs every week.....all wonderful. Sit back and enjoy....
My wife makes fun of me because I cant stop listening to Elvis. I think you said it best, he gets us through some tough times !!! Everytime I turn around I hear another great song that I cant stop singing or playing in my car... God Bless..
let me tell tou something stud3737, the only thing your wife is laughing at is the fact that you have a soul......i mean , think about it .......it takes soul to enjoy Elvis's voice !!! So let her be.....one day there will be a song that will touch her as his music touched millions of us....I really hope it for her......KEEP ON SMILING
Hi studd3737. If you can take her to Graceland, would like to bet she will be as big a fan as you on your return, I have a friend whos wife was the Elvis fan, they went to Memphis and now she says he is the bigger fan. hahah.
Another hidden, underrated classic performance. He sings this in such an unaffected cliche free way. It's so refreshing to hear him sounding so natural.
That is NOT TRUE that Elvis didn't touch Priscilla after Lisa was born! Haters have spread that LIE. Priscilla said in her book they made love passionately throughout the pregnancy with him being careful not to hurt her or baby, and she says they DID HAVE SEX AGAIN after. It took awhile and she hints the passion had gone which is normal after a birth..They BOTH started affairs at about the same time in 68. Priscilla with her dance instructor and Elvis with a woman on set & Susan Henning.
See Susan Henning & my posts at Power of My Love on my channel. Other long term affairs for Elvis were Kathy Westmoreland (70-77), Barbara Leigh (70-73) & Joyce Bova (70-72) Each of these woman complain of many other women. Before the marriage, Ann Margret was Elvis's hottest affair & very important LOVE--started 63.. Priscilla started an affair with karate instructor Mike Stone by 71, and left Elvis for Stone. There are rumors about her & singer Mylon Leferve in the mid 60s, but NO proof.
Yes, Elvis and the MM did a lot of partying particularly in Vegas and Palm Springs, but this was no different than any other rock star & their entourage. Priscilla only caught him one time in Palm Springs when the house was full of half naked & naked women--a little difficult to explain! NO the guys were not always around, & did NOT live at Graceland. There was NO ROOM except for the basement apartment, & they all had homes, wives & kids. Billy Smith says the wives & kids came along more later
You were defending what Priscilla said in her book in the prior post about being lonely & the guys being around too much, & then say her book was filled with lies! True it was, & those are two of the "distortions." Priscilla tells the basic story, but the details change from her book, the movie, & later interviews. She says in her book only kissing & cuddling happened when she was 14, but shows half naked petting in her movie. She says she was 16 on her summer & Christmas visits, but was 17.
With her 5/24/45 Bday, you just have to do the math. She talks about a lot of sexual stuff happening on those visits in her book & just shows a drugged up stupor in her movie. Priscilla refuted her "tech" virgin bride claims in later interviews saying "Of course we were having sex!" This is one of the claims she was not just called on, but laughed at. This virgin claim was made to refute all the allegations Elvis was forced to marry her & as a good excuse for her own actions.
She has never shown the importance of Ann Margret of course since Elvis was with Ann through much of the first yr. Priscilla was at GL nor has she talked about his specific documented affairs--just in a general way. What lies was she called on? I only know about the one virgin bride one she refuted herself. Yes some of the guys have lived at GL, but the only place is the basement apartment. which I know Marty Lacker & family lived at & Jerry Schilling & his black backup singer gf lived at.
lies but I also find I need to defend her too. When she came to GL to live and up until the time she left Elvis. Here was a young girl who I think loved E and was willing to do everything to please him and that's what E wanted to.He taught her how to dress, wear makeup,do her hair, how to walk, talk and everything he thought a women should be.She was left alone so much and really could not do anything. After the separation is when she got mean.
I defend Priscilla too when I see people blaming his death on her after she had been gone for almost six yrs, & even threatening her! However, Priscilla was a grown intelligent girl of almost 18 when she moved to Memphis & was capable of making her own decisions. She is the one who choose to keep writing even when he hadn't called in 6 months,& wanted to visit, & move in. What perturbed me was the way she depicted him in her book & particularly her movie, it was almost like she hated him.
I've never seen another woman depict Elvis as she does or gripe about him trying to control them, but even if true, I don't call telling her how to dress a problem & she didn't have to stay. I think Priscilla was as you have said trying to please the icon to get what she wanted instead of giving love to the real man which I see in Ann Margret when she says things like "I wanted that for him." I don't see that in the relationship of Elvis and Priscilla.
Come on guys. EP and MJ were two completely different indivisuals. Both were born from a different generations and had different backgrounds and both contributed to the music industryEP was king of rock n roll and MJ was the king of pop, Can't we leave it at that and just remember them both.
and i have been triying for ages to find a song by him were he is sat on the edge of a hospital bed singing about some one in the bed or something like that, if any one knows what its name is can you please write back on here please thankyouuu x
OH..and please don't compare the king to mj..they both contributed HUGE to the music world and in mjs case..TOO HUMANITY...don't compare...it's not right!
So you're saying that Elvis contributed nothing to humanity? You obviously don't know basic info about Elvis. Michael has done far less for the world and for music than Elvis.
IMO..elvis loved p more then anyone in the world..the lifestyle was too much for p...she was not the center of his life...so many songs seemed to be directed towards p...SHE IS JUST REEPING THE $ FROM HIS DEATH...i don't think she loved him as much as he loved her...
Elvis was not home that often nor would he allow the wifes to go where the guys went. When E was in Vegas the wives were only allowed to be there for the first and last shows. Even living at Graceland can get pretty lonely when your waiting for your man to come home and when he did the boys were always around (Memphis Mafia) because that's the way E wanted it.
If you remember once Cilla gave birth to Lisa Marie,E never touch Cilla again.
so so handsome. I never get tired of listening and looking at him. there will never be another Elvis, we'll see how many people are still buying and honoring MJ in 25 yrs. Long live the one and only King of Rock n' Roll, our Elvis
However, when I was younger I always thought how could Pricilla leave him. I am now 46yrs young, life happens, he loved her and did she love him, it is one of those things, raise a hand is you have been married, divorced, or had a serious break-up -- LIFE. Thank God he was loved, and he experienced love, better to have loved than not. RIP ELVIS from this girl in Perth W.A
What a wonderful comment. Yes I have often shook my head in disbelief that she could ever leave him but then I married a very difficult man and I began to tell him "Wise up even Priscilla left Elvis!!!" Which of course means everyone has limits and has to make their own decision as to how much they will tolerate from another person..... period! And yes he was loved and I think he did learn & grow from the divorce... he just was not a strong person and I think that was what P did not percieve!
She was just a 14 year old school girl , a military dependant living in Germany when she first met the then a 24 year old Soldier, who just happened to be the King of Rock 'n Roll serving his country. All she had prior to meeting Elvis was her Family and her school childhood friends there on the base.
I saw Elvis In Louisville,Ky....On May 21, 1977,,,tickets floor level were 15.00....He played the Houston Asterdome at 5.00 each...Attendance 43,000!!!!
I was also at that show.with my aunt I was 13 years old and have been a fan ever since he is by far my favorite.I am 45 now and even have my teenage daughter listening to him.His music will be playing at my funeral
Why are all the Mj fans trying to compare him to Elvis.. boils my blood, Elvis was a Man other men admire, Mj was an admirer of wee boys.. get a grip and stay away from the king you sad lot
Ummmmm, it's true. MJ did admire little children. So much to the point he would have dozens of them candidly running around his property and spending the night with him. He was going to get blamed sooner or later.
@jacobiker why even bring Jackson into a discussion about Elvis. there is no comparison. we all know what Jackson was. dont bring that creep into the same conversation where Elvis is concerned. Elvis is and always will be the king. Jackson was at best a decent dancer and performer. but he was and never could be another elvis presley (and im being forgiving of his other interests) Elvis reigns over that pervert (sorry) completely. jackson fans are just going to have to get over it.
MJ and Elvis are two different performers in various kind of music. There is nothing to compare, but in my opinion Elvis's music is much better. I don't like POP. Lately we said that POP is so usual, casual, and nothing special music, and after MJ death many people are trying to know pop great sort of music. I'm a musician, in Elvis's music are sometimes difficult chord progression, musician from TCB was great especialy when you see concerts from las vegas! Michael music is made on commputer

Elvis Presley became known as The King of Rock and Roll but he didn't name himself that. The media came up with it.
Paul McCartney is known as Sir Paul and that title was bestowed upon him.
Michael Jackson on the other hand dubbed himself "The King of Pop".
Which of these three titles is the most pretentious?

Some lovely pictures here but I'm afraid the song is pretty awful and instantly forgettable. Not worthy of E's voice.

Priscilla with her dance instructor and Elvis with a woman on set & Susan Henning.
epmelodygirl 2 years ago
See Susan Henning & my posts at Power of My Love on my channel. Other long term affairs for Elvis were Kathy Westmoreland (70-77), Barbara Leigh (70-73) & Joyce Bova (70-72) Each of these woman complain of many other women. Before the marriage, Ann Margret was Elvis's hottest affair & very important LOVE--started 63.. Priscilla started an affair with karate instructor Mike Stone by 71, and left Elvis for Stone. There are rumors about her & singer Mylon Leferve in the mid 60s, but NO proof.
epmelodygirl 2 years ago
Yes, Elvis and the MM did a lot of partying particularly in Vegas and Palm Springs, but this was no different than any other rock star & their entourage. Priscilla only caught him one time in Palm Springs when the house was full of half naked & naked women--a little difficult to explain! NO the guys were not always around, & did NOT live at Graceland. There was NO ROOM except for the basement apartment, & they all had homes, wives & kids. Billy Smith says the wives & kids came along more later
epmelodygirl 2 years ago
At different times members of the MM did live at Graceland. Charlie,Sonny,Lamar,

Priscilla's book has been proven to be
filled with lies and she was called on it.
bauer24006 2 years ago
You were defending what Priscilla said in her book in the prior post about being lonely & the guys being around too much, & then say her book was filled with lies! True it was, & those are two of the "distortions." Priscilla tells the basic story, but the details change from her book, the movie, & later interviews. She says in her book only kissing & cuddling happened when she was 14, but shows half naked petting in her movie. She says she was 16 on her summer & Christmas visits, but was 17.
epmelodygirl 2 years ago
With her 5/24/45 Bday, you just have to do the math. She talks about a lot of sexual stuff happening on those visits in her book & just shows a drugged up stupor in her movie. Priscilla refuted her "tech" virgin bride claims in later interviews saying "Of course we were having sex!" This is one of the claims she was not just called on, but laughed at. This virgin claim was made to refute all the allegations Elvis was forced to marry her & as a good excuse for her own actions.
epmelodygirl 2 years ago
She has never shown the importance of Ann Margret of course since Elvis was with Ann through much of the first yr. Priscilla was at GL nor has she talked about his specific documented affairs--just in a general way. What lies was she called on? I only know about the one virgin bride one she refuted herself. Yes some of the guys have lived at GL, but the only place is the basement apartment. which I know Marty Lacker & family lived at & Jerry Schilling & his black backup singer gf lived at.
epmelodygirl 2 years ago 2
Yes I do believe Priscilla's book is full of
lies but I also find I need to defend her too. After the separation is when she got mean.
bauer24006 2 years ago 2
I defend Priscilla too when I see people blaming his death on her after she had been gone for almost six yrs, & even threatening her! However, Priscilla was a grown intelligent girl of almost 18 when she moved to Memphis & was capable of making her own decisions. She is the one who choose to keep writing even when he hadn't called in 6 months,& wanted to visit, & move in. What perturbed me was the way she depicted him in her book & particularly her movie, it was almost like she hated him.
epmelodygirl 2 years ago
I've never seen another woman depict Elvis as she does or gripe about him trying to control them, but even if true, I don't call telling her how to dress a problem & she didn't have to stay. I think Priscilla was as you have said trying to please the icon to get what she wanted instead of giving love to the real man which I see in Ann Margret when she says things like "I wanted that for him." I don't see that in the relationship of Elvis and Priscilla.

I agree.I wasn't saying those things to put Elvis down.
bauer24006 2 years ago
I agree.Sometimes I think she was trying

Come on guys. EP and MJ were two completely different indivisuals. Both were born from a different generations and had different backgrounds and both contributed to the music industryEP was king of rock n roll and MJ was the king of pop, Can't we leave it at that and just remember them both.

OH..and please don't compare the king to mj..they both contributed HUGE to the music world and in mjs case..TOO HUMANITY...don't compare...it's not right!
shellyandsean2004 2 years ago 2
So you're saying that Elvis contributed nothing to humanity? You obviously don't know basic info about Elvis. Michael has done far less for the world and for music than Elvis.
illusionistdave 2 years ago
IMO..elvis loved p more then anyone in the world..the lifestyle was too much for p...she was not the center of his life...so many songs seemed to be directed towards p...SHE IS JUST REEPING THE $ FROM HIS DEATH...i don't think she loved him as much as he loved her...
shellyandsean2004 2 years ago
The lifestyle was not too much for Cilla.
If you remember once Cilla gave birth to Lisa Marie,E never touch Cilla again.
bauer24006 2 years ago
Actually, he did touch Cilla again after Lisa Marie was born.

so so handsome. I never get tired of listening and looking at him. there will never be another Elvis, we'll see how many people are still buying and honoring MJ in 25 yrs. Long live the one and only King of Rock n' Roll, our Elvis

love love this song, sit back and day dream.
RIP ELVIS from this girl in Perth W.A
leecom1962 2 years ago
What a wonderful comment. Yes I have often shook my head in disbelief that she could ever leave him but then I married a very difficult man and I began to tell him "Wise up even Priscilla left Elvis!!!" Which of course means everyone has limits and has to make their own decision as to how much they will tolerate from another person..... period! And yes he was loved and I think he did learn & grow from the divorce... he just was not a strong person and I think that was what P did not percieve!

man she used him up. she had nothing before she met him.

She was just a 14 year old school girl , a military dependant living in Germany when she first met the then a 24 year old Soldier, who just happened to be the King of Rock 'n Roll serving his country. All she had prior to meeting Elvis was her Family and her school childhood friends there on the base.

@jacobiker - I don't think it's right to say MJ was an admirer of wee boys, how childish. But Elvis is better than MJ, i agree.

@bizarrebob
Ummmmm, it's true. MJ did admire little children. So much to the point he would have dozens of them candidly running around his property and spending the night with him. He was going to get blamed sooner or later.
Anyway, Elvis is the best of all-time.

@jacobiker Well said ...Elvis Forever
paulietrev1 1 year ago
