I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old DOHC Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

TWO Montreals? OMG I go crazy trying to maintain 1! ('73, # AR 1428278, Blu Medio) Where you guys get parts these days? And the headlight system is vacuum operated from that big tank under the hood
hello heyjpn! I have been owned by my Montreal 25 years! I bought it from my uncle in 1983 i was just out of college and convinced a bank to loan me enough money hee hee! It is not that I have troubles but it is SO hard to work on and everything takes forever to do you see? Like to change the rear gas filter you have to empty the tank!. and water pump repair means pull out engine and remove heads! The big problem in USA is parts - wait, wait, wait. But I will never sell it - its my child :)
You have to pull out engine and remove heads to repair water pump? I can't believe it easily. But you do the things like that for more 25 years! You are great.
hi! Its true about the water pump trust me! the pump is chain (not belt) driven from inside motor - this was a full race engine in its day. we did mine in 1990 and I found a much better pump seal (from Australia lol) that wont leak antifreeze into the oil - so it wont happen again. But of course if the engine is so apart you might as well rebuild it at water pump time - it is a rediculous motor but worth it ... sounds and runs like no other. Oh - hehe it holds 12 LITERS of oil!!
I should ask dad (i'm barely 14) how you do that frontlights because he does it but not from in the car... he opens the hood and sends pressure in a valve
Very cool headlight design. I'm from the States and we never see Alfas here and this is the first time I've ever seen a Montreal. Very unique car.

chemical specialists and engine experts tell 4 stroke engine owners (of older cars)
to putting 1% two stroke oil into the fuel too, because the modern fuel contains
alcohol and acid, the modern 2 Stroke oil neutralizes these corrosion factors and
lubricates the carbs, tanks or / and spica injection systems also the upper cylinder parts.
2 Stroke oil cleans piston rings and combustion chambers too.

use 1% two stroke oil in your fuel to prevent fuel system corrosion with todays ultra dry eco fuel (E10)

Hi, forestghost7.
You are also enjoying life with Motreal, aren't you?
But you seem to have many troubles with Montreal...
Especially, it seems that the lack of parts is serious, doesn't it?
This Montreal is not mine but my friend's, so I can't advise you anything. Sorry.

Do you really have two Montreals?
Why two?
I guess you must have some other cars and Montreal is just one of them. I'm really envious of you.
