  • It's supposed to be las train to SAN FERNANDO not:

    Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch.

  • This was originally a Trinidad calypso about the last train from the capital, Port-of-Spain, to San Fernando. Original performers were Duke of Iron/Mighty Dictator (I think)

  • Duke of Iron was the original singer...1950

  • Boy do I remember this one....be de be be bang bang?? love it *****

  • It's been 29 years since i listened to this song. Great Memories from my Grandparents home☺♫♪♫

  • The guitar solo is definately calypso which is not surprising when you consider it was recorded when Harry Belafonte was hot.

  • THOMAS

Tijdens een visnet-party bij mij op zolder in mijn ouderlijk huis, was dit een HIT! We schrijven 1956, Oude Gracht - Utrecht.

  • Whatever genre it fits into - if it fits into one at all - lets just agree, it is a great song, very well done! :-)

  • Johnny Duncan: is this singer and musician - the one who migrated to Australia and died there in 2000?

  • yes it is

  • Thats right

  • I reckon it`s Trinidad. Just got a touch of calypso lurking in it.

  • I love the song and would like to know, which San Fernando it is relating to. Trinidad or California?

  • @fincaspain I've still got it in my Mum and Dads attic.

  • Hi- For a guitar player, this wonderful solo by the "guvernor" Denny Wright is absolutely breathtaking- I saw Johnny and the boys in Edinburgh at an overnight concert below Waverley station- literally "underground" as a schoolboy in the late 50's- they were great and I managed a quick chat to Denny (now gone too) after on my (and his)way home. Thanks maolchalium for this delightful memory. I had their LP of Hank Williams covers as well which was brilliant too.

  • Great to hear Denny Wright on guitar, he was a nice guy.

  • Brill! Had this on a 45 along with about 100 others from that era. Some G** nicked the whole lot when my folks were burgled!

  • great

  • Thank you for bringing back a sweet memory!

  • très bons souvenirs de cette époque et de ce disque

  • Fond memories .....ruined my copy .....worn out !
