Majority of these bikes used in the Philippines are Yamaha's. Kawasaki's and Honda's are a little more expensive there. Suzuki's are not as reliable. Yamaha's tend to overheat easier but they can remove the silencer and off they go again. Climbing up a hilly road the passengers push the tricycle (as they call them in some parts of the Philippines) and get back on, once they reach the top. Hahaha!
Haha! only in Asia! very resourceful people:) who needs a Harley or metrics? if I have that 125 or 100 cc bike that can pull or carry 2 Harleys at the same time:)
(no offense to Harley lovers, I love Harleys to) :)
No, but my wife is from Mindanao. Most home-made vehicles are not street legal in the USA, but motorcycle side carts are legal. Maybe I will chop one up into small pieces , put it in my luggage, and reassemble in the USA.
He he he thats the funniest comment i have heard all day. I am in a cafe in Saigon checking my emails with a very sore jaw from having root canal work done and you have brightened my day with your amusing comment. thank you.
I have been on alot of those tricycles , you know it's funny all the motorcycles there look like our bikes from the early 70's and they could be brand new but look like old model motorcycles, it's at least a 125cc might even be a 4 stroke with no muffler haha, but none I saw were 50cc, alot of 50cc scooters there though.
Sadly I have been on these tricycles, me being a pretty good sized American it wasn't comfortable at all especially when more and more hopped on to ride, you have to hunch over in these , I just laughed to myself , its pretty interesting to see how others get around.
We started popping a wheelie when I was on one with my brother, his wife, her parents and all of their kids. Everybody had to get off and get back on again to balance out the weight better. I love the tryke's. Still wish I would have rode on top of a Jeepney.
hi there, no it cant be 50 CC. The motorcycle looked like a KAWASAKI, and sounded a two stroke engine. Those Kawasakis are known to have at least 100 CC. But Im thinking this was more, kinda like 125 to 150CC.
I also thought "only in the Philippines" until I visited Cambodia, Vietnam and to a lesser degree in Thailand but still they pile them on! Thats why I love Asia. The never ending resourcefulness of the people.
They are resourceful because it is legal for them to be. Imagine if you built your own Jeep in your garage, then tried to get a license plate for it. Resourcefulness is often illegal in the USA!
@DirtyPierreonTour i can remember the first time i went to korea i saw a guy riding a bicycle, not a scooter, uphill, with a refrigerator strapped to the back
@BeingNobody1956 I saw a photo in a Vietnamese news paper the other day of a guy on a motorbike carrying another motorbike sideways across his motorbike driving down the hwy in Hanoi. And in Saigon I was riding my motorbike behind two guys carrying a huge sheet of glass right in the heart of downtown Saigon. I wanted to video them but I couldnt because I was by myself and so needed two hands to ride in traffic.
