@metallica1123456 They may not have been able to find it because this video isn't in the suggestion box for part 1, and some people are too lazy to find it themselves.
No one can truely decifer someone else's lyrics, the music has been given to you to create your own memories and emotions from listening to their music.
I loved this album immediately because it's the only one I can listen to all the way through with my eyes closed for the entire time without even being tempted to open them.
Hell I didn't know that. I always felt strange about this song and when I heard it for the first time it didn't seem much like maynard's lyricism. I have to admit that 10000 days took some time to grow on me, but I love this fucking song. This and right in two are my favorite tracks. I also saw this live and I will never forget it.
@Aar0nT Heres an idea fag go waste your time NOT searching for songs you dont like just to put stupid comments on saying that you dont like it, its pointless. Just go listen to your mindless crap and rant on those comment pages instead of on here.
I noticed how people are way more calm in the softer more emotional songs, while people in aenima and the more upbeat songs constantly sware and are always angry at each other.
@DrunkenLeprechaunPro one must find his own meaning, and yes immediate emotional response does not really define a song, just what the being was feeling at that moment in time.
Yes, but the point being that people listening to more hardcore songs tend to hype up and give in to their immediate response to the song instead of stepping back and trying to understand why they're reacting like that.
You don't have to want to beat the shit out of people when listening to Lateralus. In fact, the song talks about divinity and evolving collectively. It has nothing to do with anger or aggressiveness.
@DrunkenLeprechaunPro Lateralus was tools first defining point. It was the first song with real emotional meaning, it was one of the first song I heard from TOOL. It still amazes me how they could imagine such things that sound so defining.
Parabol/a is the song that got my jaw to drop when listening to Tool. Not only does their music transcend the "metal" genre but they also manage to not make it so mundane. Tool put so much effort into making the MUSIC itself creative and meaningful. Then, Maynard writes lyrics that, I believe, are deeper than most people can even understand.
In my honest opinion, Tool is by far the greatest band of our time. They are musical geniuses with a sound that no one can match.
@DrunkenLeprechaunPro you know its always nice to have an intellectual conversation with someone about TOOL. Rather than someone who's like "TOOL is bad-ass an stuff, Herp-derp".
amazing song by an amazing man. Maynard is my idol. TOOL are best band in the world by far. Just listen to the melodys they make. I live in Australia I seen this song live and I will never forget it
In hundreds of years when people look back to the music of the 20th century, Tool will stick out as having been so far ahead of their time that most people couldn't even fathom the beauty. It really is that good. Every album of theirs from undertow onwards can easily be regarded one of the best works of art in human history.
'the pot" was the first tool song i ever heard and i was blown away. i got the album and thought it was ridiciously good. it's one of the best whole albums i ever heard. old stuff not bad either.
this is tools best album. now im not sayin that there other albums didnt rock, because they still do, i just like how this one is more relaxing and a great trip.
Artist usually do their best work under emotional stress sad but true this song shows it. The thunder in the background is a nice touch. This song relaxes me so.
I could see how that would affect him so heavily... the song is about his mother who was deeply religios, then she had a stroke was partially paralyzed for 27 years (roughly 10,000 days) until she eventually died. part one is his recognition that his mother will soon be dead and part two is her getting her wings and going to heaven.
Not that all you TOOL fans out there didnt know that already, Im just informing those who dont ;)
@metal4lifeddie haha well here it goes short: the main character of Wings' lover is killed by demons and in order for her to go to the spirit world, he must go to hell. (hence Wings for Marie). he then spends 10,000 days in the fire (Hell). The album to me is a story even though i know its not what Maynard wrote it to be. then again, Tool's songs have multiple meanings. there u go haha
This image is so provocative and yet so wicked...I have seen Tool perform this whole song and it was the most amazing performance, I can't describe the angst and awe that overwhelmed me!!!! The part where he says"it's time now, my time time now, give me my, give me my wings"!!!
mandrill, i was just saying that i was hoping that there was a music video, you never know, they might make one. i was basically talking to tool to make a vid out of this song. lol they named there 10,000 days album after this song so why isnt there a music vid?
Probably because it was a tribute to Maynards mom that was sick for approximately 10,000 days. Besides, if a band makes a S/T-album, does that mean they have to make a video of the S/T-song, or even be forced to have one?
in a Revolver issue dedicated solely to Tool, Maynard says he outright regrets performing wings for an audience...i don't get the feeling he'll be trying to reach an audience with this song anymore.
Tool is my favorite bands but I don't suck any of thier members and I am not in the know regarding thier music videos. Don't be such an obsessive snob.
when you are so stoned and you listen to this it makes you feel like you in the thunderstorm and underwater its a song you have to listen to when your wrecked theres no other song like it 10/10!

...Maynard's mom's name was Judith Marie... in fact it says that in the song, "Judith Marie, unconditional one."
