One small thing that's important to me thats TOMTOM ignore and where GARMIN pay attention to is AUTO POWER AND MP3 player starts. When you turn off the engine which shuts the GPS power OFF and Turns the engine back ON Garmin knows to auto start the GPS and continue with the MP3 player while the TOM TOM doesn't. This can be important to prevent from manually power on the GPS everytime you start the ignition.

I didn't even have to get an iPod adapter with my TomTom since I can use it to tune to my radio and play MP3's from it, awesome

you can used the sd card for map updates. because the 720 has a limited ammount of onboard memory, as maps get larger or as you purchase others from other countries you will need extra space thus

Existing TomTom users: if you update firmware above 8.01 you LOSE the feature also. TomTom has disabled this feature for the entire world. Garmin, took a much more logical approach & only disabled it in 2 European countries that ban FM tranmission.

BUY THE GARMIN - better maps and no tricky updates or false advertising.

It's for storage, you can put a different SD card that has more memory. This would be good if your also using the Tomtom for uploading music and pictures.

nick10k, (and anyone else who's curious for that matter) a 4gb SD card will work perfectly, but I wouldn't go over that if I were you. Anything higher than 4gb could damage the processor in the unit.
