@EastMidlandsSteam Ok, yes I admit that more needs doing than new cylinder blocks, but unless you work in the engineering team at the NRM, your sources aren't better than mine and that's where I heard it. I see no reason to disbelieve it.
@edj66 Lol..chances of them overhauling her are very very very slim...She's going to have an endless list of problems thats going to cost money thats going to have to come from donations which at the rate Scotsman's donations came in..aint worth it. It aint worth it and you look at another loco for example 4771 thats in far superior condition to 60022, it would take less time and of course less money to overhaul her and id guarantee more people would want to see the sole surviving V2.
@EastMidlandsSteam Wait a second, I realise now why we've been disagreeing. Many apologies, for some reason I was talking about Green Arrow on the wrong video. Not sure what was going on! The information I heard was indeed about V2 Green Arrow, not Mallard. Sorry about that.
@EastMidlandsSteam Also, I think they're planning to resteam 6229 at some point, I read in a magazine recently that they were even thinking of decking out a rake of Mk2s in the same livery. Now that would be a sight. That was an interview with Steve someone or other, the Director at the NRM. Either way, be happy to see 4771 and/or 6229 back in steam. Maybe 4468 in 2038? 100th anniversary perhaps...
To be quite honest I'm glad of the move because I've always wanted to see her out on the mainline even though she's been dragged by 60163. At the same time I will miss the Mallard at York where to me she was in her rightful home, obviously being in steam would be better but I don't think the move to Shildon is a good idea...
I think it'll bring more intrest to Shildon, plus even though it's been dragged up the ECML , will be nice to see it outside. What date is the planned move?? Cheers.
It is a shame that she's off up there, but I suppose it'l generate a lot more interest in Shildon. It'd be nice if it were just for a year or so, but they are saying 'the foreseeable future' which isa bit of a worry for what has to be the jewel in the NRM's crown! Apparently the SE&CR 4-4-0 is going in her place in the gret hall, that's the worst bit, they need something striking at that doorway! The Duchess would do that job very well
as far as I know the last time it happened, it was Mallard, and she was dragged to Doncster for the 'Plant' open day in 2003. Green Arrow did the honours.
I might be wrong, but would this be something to do with the re-development of the NRM's Great Hall within a year or so? Besides that, I can't see York ever being the same without Mallard...
@EastMidlandsSteam She is to be steamed again apparently. Two new cylinder blocks.

@edj66 thats a rubbish rumour, she wont be steamed for the foreseable future and ALOT more is needed to be done apart from cylinder blocks.

I think it shouldn't move, 4468 was a great addition to the fleet. It will be missed :(

Wow wouldn't have expected 4468 to leave the NRM, but I surpose it will boost interest at Shildon which is a good thing.
Will have to make sure I film the move
Thanks for letting us know chap
Best Wishes
