I wish you could give me some guitar lessons Andy! You're seriously a f*cking good guitar player! Anyway, I ordered myself a 62'jazzmaster reissue yesterday, is it gonna sound much different then this custom shop version? Thanks! And your videos are much appreciated!
Sill to this day do not understand relic-ing (the cosmetic side at least) I wouldn't want a ding there unless I'd done it, where's the soul in laquered fake scuff marks? Great sound and great playing as usual.
@LX771 - It's an original tune by Andy's assistant Jamie. It's not currently available commercially, but we do have vague plans to make the PGS original jams available for download at some point. Thanks!
Many players look down on the Jazzmaster. Good,, that means there will be more of them around for us the love this guitar. Can't get excited about the "Relic" deal.
I don't need anyone to pre- wear my guitars or my jeens for that mater.
Hello guys!I'm looking for a Fender Jazzmaster 1966 candy apple red and i can't find it anywhere.I've been waching your video and i think if you can find for me this guitar(probably from a custom shop),and of course if this is possible i would like to know the price of this guitar. Thanks and keep on the good work!
@ProGuitarShopDemos Do you think this guitar would be all right for eric clapton, but also range to styles such as nirvana or green day? As well as blues licks and such? As in, is it versatile enough to be used for classic rock, grunge, and blues?
We have one of these that has been in the family since my dad bought it new. Mfd on 8/4/1962. It is not the custom shop though. It has the original hardshell case, yellow fender tack rag, even had the original strings until about twenty years ago. Has been played very little, as it is is pristine condition. Ever so slight cracking of the paint and no wear whatsoever. Kind of curious to know the value, one appraisal was at $6000
Not a big fan of relics. To me, id rather put my own personal wear on a guitar. I love Jazzmasters, I want a sunburst one to go with my strat. The most Underated guitar on the market By FAR.
is this guitar good with heavy distortion? whats the difference between this and a jaguar? can it do red hot chili peppers and queens of the stone age?
@punkiassjunki I own a jazzmaster. I would't recommend a it for a heavily distorted sound. Its not a real high gain type of guitar. It does however distort nicely just dont expect to be playing metal with it. Jaguars are a bit more bright and twangy where as a Jazzmaster is slighty more mellow and has more tonal range. also John F. from RHCP actually played a jaguar in their early days. Both are great guitars though!
the Jaguar pups are a bit closer to Strat/Tele ground, where as the Jazzmaster is, for lack of better words, Fender's answer to Gibson's P90. And yes, this guitar will work well under heavy distortion. Definitely RHCP and QOTSA ground.
@Ayowta as far as i know, this guitar was designed with jazz players in mind, but they didn't take too well to it. The jazzmaster is recognized more as a surf and rock guitar now.
@teleman587063 Surf and Alternative, though Surf players prefered the Jaguar due to it's shorter scale length and brighter tone, at least that's what I heard
I like the guitar, but I wish they didn't relic it. I mean the point of people's guitars being dented and paint-chipping is that they have played them for like 10 years. It almost seems like a half-assed job on the fretboard to me, why would you want something already broken in? And they charge you extra money to beat the thing with a hammy to make it look "worn" Great guitar, but not for the price.
haha!! you gave me the absolute best introduction to how a jazzmaster sounds ever, followed by the signature "hey this is andy with pro guitar shop!!" except i was seeing the voice too instead of just hearing it!! lately i've been wanting a jazz master and i realised i've never heard one played alone. couldn't have done it better..really, thanks for the great intro!!
Hello, I'm from italy and i absolutely love this guitar.

@Brancobollo yeah, all of the mass produced jazzmasters have rosewood. custom shop is probably the only way to go on that one. this is the first maple fretted jazzmaster i've ever seen
hey guys, just wondering did you find that the jazzmaster goes out of tune quite easily? i have a jaguar which does because of the bridge makeup which is basically the same as the jazzmaster and its really annoying me. cheers
Do you know if its possibly to buy these pickups on their own? To install in one of the less expensive Jazzmaster models? I'd love to get this guitar, but I can't afford something from the Custom Shop at this point.
@ProGuitarShopDemos It would be great to know the entire signal chain that this guitar is going the through. The overdriven sounds are INSANE. This has to be one of the best guitar demos on youtube. The sound quality is amazing and the host/guitar player is great! What pedals are used? What mic is on that 57' Twin?
Thanks for posting this video. You guys run a great shop!
When you listen to someones voice for so long, then suddenly see them, it blows your mind. Possibly the only guy on youtube who makes great videos, not too much talking either.
Pro Guitar Shop i have a question! I have a AVRI Jazzmaster on the way (my first expensive guitar) and i'm planning on picking up an amp when it arrives. I'm trying to decided between and AC30 or a Fender Deluxe reissue, really like how both sound. Any suggestions?
@MyBeardisGood - Hard to go wrong with either of those, just a personal preference thing. I'd just say check a few out before you decide. They're both great, classic tube amps.
i kind of have an odd question and i hope i am able to word this correctly.
i have reeeally been looking into puchasing this exact same model of jazzmaster and i was wondering if this guitar tends to "fuzz" more consistently (regardless of the desire to) when overdriven rather than a overdrive with a little more clarity such as that of a strat/tele type?. or is both tonal qualities equally possible.
I'm pretty sure this is a '59 reissue, not a '62. I'd check that Custom Shop Certificate. The blonde finish with an anodized pickguard disappeared in '60.
You don't have to replace the bridge. Simply rub each saddle's adjustment screws on candle wax and screw them back in place. I've done it in my CIJ Jazzmaster in 2002 and never had any problems afterwards.
the jags and jazzmaters look so damn good but they're so weak compared to other electrics when u plug it in. these guitars just arent well made, plus the bridge is shit, guitar detunes if you strike it hard
@jlim200 They do cool and they are a pain in the ass to get set up right (plenty of site on how to set em up), but once they are set up right, they ROCK! "Mastery Bridge" has solved the bridge problem, but at a price! I hated my Jag when I first got it, but after some TLC is my main axe. I can beat it, strike it, whammy it, what ever, it stays in tune!
cool, thanks for the tips, ill look into it. its a shame to have the guitar sit in the corner of the room unused. just wondering have you tried the special edition HH jag, i think they changed the bridge, not sure though.
I like everything about this guitar except the relic. I really love the neck. I don't like that black thing on the front of necks of normal jazzmasters.
This really is a forward thinking guitar- bizarre it didn't catch on like the strat did... The long fretboard and the sophisticated tremolo system is comparable to the floyd rose weilding super strat shredders of today! Plus it's got GREAT tonal variety which is less than can be said for a lot of guitars on the market....
I'm a strat player but I really wouldn't mind a jazzmaster with jazzmaster with strat pickups. Bit of an uber guitar there. Plenty of space for a kaoss pad too :p
Man thats a sweet guitar and your a really great player! I own a guitar sorta like this except mine is a black Fender Jaguar, instead of a toggle switch at the bottom I have 3 regular swiches, and mines got humbuckers. What type of amp and pedals are you useing? I could get that sound, but i have a crappy amp and it isn't even a tube type. Mines a transtube, whatever that means? but yea, its a shitty cheap amp

I like everything about this guitar except the relic. I really love the neck. I don't like that black thing on the front of necks of normal jazzmasters.

@ProGuitarShopDemos That one part reminds me of something. Oh the frustration. And I'm probably just mistaken. : D

It looks absolutely gorgeous and the sounds are fantastic, too. What amp are we hearing it from, and what is the dirt pedal used, please?

is it just me, or does Andy look a bit like Lennon AND McCartney at the same time? :)
LankyCyril 2 years ago 4
Little known Andy factoid: He is, indeed, the lovechild of Lennon, McCartney, and John Cusack. Don't ask me to explain that...

Whats the song at the beginning? Great guitar, ok bridge, sweet neck, crazy pickups. Great demo!

The thing about all these new "relic" guitars is you can replicate the nicks, dings, wear, but you can't replicate the mojo.
