I'm debating between a new TC or an Audi TT. I rather get the scion for reliability and more aftermarket support. But high speed stability is a major factor and I know the Germans know all about that.

its sad that the 04-05 scion tcs are faster than all the newer years, i toped out at 134mph before mods, and it was still going strong, just limited by the transmission(needs one more gear), it is an 05 model
I haven't done over 110 in mine, it starts to feel a little squirmish after that. My Ion though, I had that bitch maxed out (speedo went to 120 mph only). It's amazing what a 4 banger can do.

I really doubt that a stock SI will hit 157mph without the limiter. They will get to 145mph, at those speed the drag that the air produces is too much.
actually i can hit 160mph....the 2007 japanese civic type r....has the same engine from the 2007 civic si here in the US...the difference is the ECU....i top 135mph at 5800rpms......and the car's redline is at 8500rpms....u think those remaining 25mph are hard to reach? when i have sooo much room to keep going? but the ECU wont let the car go more......look aroung...you'll see..............

So of course the japanese civic is faster its the same engine but with more power. A rx-8 transmission theorically can take it up to 184mph but it has no power to reach there. Im sure that a modded civic si without the limiter can reach 160mph, but a stock I doubt it, unless drafting or going downhill.

@masayuki having extra gears doesn't matter. Any 5spd can do 180+. It's the gear ratio that matters.

Stock '85 Hachiroku. Topped at 131 on the Trans Canada . Fastest I've ever been. Still haven't had the tC over 100.

I really doubt that a stock SI will hit 157mph without the limiter. They will get to 145mph, at those speed the drag that the air produces is too much.
