Rakim was tight rapper. He had a strong flow and freestyle but Rakim was too Serious. Big Daddy Kane didnt come off as strong rap wise but Kane was a stronger over all entertainer than Rakim. Its good to know how to rap but some people forget that Rap is entertainment and in those days it was about entertainment. BDK was more colorful than Rakim, Had a better on -stage persona and had a stronger over all career. IMO.

LOLOL....Kane was NOT a gimmick rapper! Why are you saying that? Kane never acted like he was hard, then herbed throughout Brooklyn or something. Kane wore gear and chains, that were being takened off the next person. Kane vs. Rakim never came up.  It got heated between them when Marly aint produce rakim's album, and Kane and other m.c.'s were dissin rakim to his face, but the battle never happened. They were both of the best m.c.'s. And it was squashed.
