Wow, after watching the last couple seasons and then going back and watching this, it's really obvious how much weight McGee lost, especially in his face. Good for him! I know it's not really McGee, but the actor who plays and yet I am having a brain fart and can't remember the guy's name. Sean something?? Grrrr. I hate when that happens.

I wonder if DiNozzo ever got slapped for citing Connery's "Rules" from "Entrapment" in place of Gibbs' Rules. "Rule Number 1: Never carry a gun." "Rule Number 2: Never trust a naked woman."

For me it looks like : you've done my job good and now are old enough to come back to you sense alone. That or gibbs memorylost is fault. I think that was the last time I see him slap him.

Y'know what's funny?...Tony didn't even start out as the guy who did the movie references in the show...in the pilot, GIBBS made a reference to "Air Force One" while ON Air Force One with kate, and an episode or two later, KATE made a movie reference to the movie "Bounce" (which starred Ben Affleck)...so technically, this wasn't even a DiNozzo thing in the beginning!:P:P
i believe this is the first time gibbs has headslapped tony in season 6, and tony is telling gibbs how he hasn't been headslapped for a really long time, and gibbs is telling him that he knows.
@Faargoottt In the show, it could be a sign of Gibbs knowing that the kids are growing up and they don't always need slapping to behave. In reality, poor Michael Weatherly was getting head-slapped by random people when he would go out shopping, so Mark Harmon toned down the head-slaps.

Gibbs did it with affection, it was a Gibbs thing, and fans got used to it so they kinda use it as a homage to the show. And as for Mark Harmon hitting Michael, it all started out because Michael was doing something goofy and Mark gave him a slap to keep him in line, the writers loved it so they wrote it in, but it became alot of headslaps so they tone it down.
I think I finally figured out why Gibbs kept saying 'I know.' In season 4 episode 22 (In the Dark), both Tony and Gibbs are having commitment issues with women. Mann& Jeanne. Gibbs over hears Tony about it and Gibbs just keeps saying 'I know.' In this episode Gibbs and Tony are both having problems because they are no longer with anybody. Please tell me if you have anything else to add to this.

IMO? Tony relates in this episode that he has never really gotten over Jeanne - at least to the point where he can move on with other women. That he isn't clicking with them, how long it's been since he's been intimate with a woman, etc. Tony noted that it has been a while since physical contact. I think that Gibbs understands that Tony has not really been able to move on since Jeanne and has been having problems - thus the I know and snap out of it. Daddy Gibbs giving advice to his boy.
