  • Should I get this half stack or a mesa boogie dual rectifier. I need an amp that can go from an overdrivin blues tone to a really high gain metal shred tone price dosent matter cause I'm willing to pay more for tone.and if it helps I use a Gibson les paul studio if it helps.any help would be appreciated

  • @sexiguiterguy12345 Mesa Boogies Run So hot that you can Cook Off them .Tubes are always a Problem with Boogies Great Tone Even Though

  • Comment removed

  • hows the sx 300 compare to marshall half stack?

  • fail at metal and tone.

  • I love my Carvin V3. Amazing tones. This video doesn't do the V3 justice. So versatile. Thank you so much Carvin

  • i dont like it

  • yay another guitar video where its the guy talking about the amp over half way through the video. 90% of the time the guys talking dont know jack shit about the amp or guitars in general. how about you play and not talk.

  • I don't know if it's the amp's or video's sound, but the clean channel's sound sucks....It's too weak and thin.

  • The amp sounds super fuzzy and buzzy to me which I'm guessing has a lot to do with the speakers in the Carvin cab. I bet if you played the head through a cabinet with Vintage 30's or Greenback's it would tighten up the distortion alot and sound pretty amazing.

  • @hisroyalsucculence I completely agree. These videos sound like crap and do not do justice to V3 or V3M. Carvin should recording these in HD and upload accordinly. Unless they want to sabotage themselves.

  • i herd the top two notes of those sweeps perfectly what about the other 6 ?

  • Man, this guy totally reminds me of Beavis and Butthead's teacher Mr. Van Driessen.

  • why do good lead players always suck when it comes to playing good riffs

  • Man am i the only one that thinks the tone on this amp is absolutely terrible? its so blaring and incoherent nothing sounds distinct at all...

  • @Niaboc67its just shitty youtube quality and players. It's not a bad amp at all. You cant trust a youtube video.

  • who care about loops?!?! JESUS

  • lo lwhat a nerd

  • Don't buy this amp. I have had it for 3 years. Nothing but problems. Save your money.

  • worst sweeping ever

  • @EGGJAZZ

pretty sure he was fucking off

  • 4:34 - 4:40 wtf?

  • ill be honest...listening to this guy play is the equivalent to eating glass, or having me ears stabbed by a red hot iron bar.....some of it is just horrendous.....but i guess the amp is alright

  • I used this amp with my last band and jt is amazing! The clean channel is super clean, bright, deep, what ever you want....super versatile. The distortion channels are thick and powerful. Try this amp at a Carvin store and I know you'll want one. I think it runs around $800!

  • That with George Bush´s body disguise worked well. But the voice, he forgot to disguise :-)

  • @koza821 I can't sweep at all (am I the hypocrite?), but at least I can tell sloppy technique from something well played!

  • That was some seriously sloppy sweep picking 4:34-4:40.

  • Carvin makes awesome music. I love my LB75P Blueburst bass, RL1000 amp, 410 w/ redeye horn and 118! That and a tuner is all I need.

  • yo dude would this amp give like a both smooth and warm tone yet with a sharp edge and allow alot of tapping in easy ways.

  • ss s ssss ssss , sz sz sz sz sz szz zzz zzz zzz zzz AMP .

    All Ok

  • are the channels footswitchable?

  • @ghsr82 yes, the amp has an optional foot switch you can buy with four switches on it for each channel. this amp is seriously awesome, i own it.

  • This Amp is Hot as

  • One badass sounding amp! I had a Peavey 5150 2x12 combo and it did not sound as cool as this amp! I got rid of it! Haaa! I will be getting one of these V3 amps! At 7:53 great classic rock distortion.

  • One badass sounding amp! I had a Peavey 5150 2x12 combo and it did not sound as cool as this amp! I got rid of it! Haaa! I will be getting one of these V3 amps!

  • high gain settings he had going sounded stale as heck

  • You sound like Eugene Levy!

  • the sicilian shredder

  • Nice amp if you are into hard metal but if you want to do classic rock with the brown sound and also have a super clean channel, I believe the Carvin X100B is the way to go. Its a very cool 2 channel amp with a built in digital reverb, and built in equalizer, as well as a boost for leads. It is also one of the most quiet tube amps ever. It also has master volumes so you don't have to blow the roof off of your house! lol

Vai's original amp before he went to the Legacy.

  • bad review, but very good amp !

  • Just ordered the combo of this yesterday in bronco white and Celestion V30's :)

  • I'm thinking about getting this instead of an Engl, I have an original Vai series Carvin and I love it, it has tons of distortion and bottom end and great for thrash metal and the clean sound is perfect! I haven't heard a clean as pristine in any other amp as I do from Carvin.

Plus, this head is only like $900!

  • eehhh... a little more mids would sound better

  • a little to much saturation for my taste. although i am sure with a little knob work you can dial it in to more of a tone monster. maybe?

  • @donniecrump hehe knob work..........sorry i cudn't help myself

  • if i run a boss gt10 is it possible to use the 4-cable method with it. i want to switch channels and have different fx

  • I have a V3 head & the audio on this video doesn't do the amp any justice. It really sounds great. The distortions are really great. There's tons of tone adjustment, it goes from AC/DC to Lamb of God without a pedal in front on the amp. It can do big mids or scooped mids. There's not much it cant do. It's $850 & your not compromising, it's well made.

  • @KevinFL Totally agree. I also have the V3 and this video doesn't do it any justice at all.

  • does it come with the foot switch?

  • why is he just doing metal i want to hear a great tube drive for classic rock and a sparkling clean for classic rock and all types of music

  • @posiedonpowertrio There are other genres of music played in the other parts of this video. This is only Part 1.

  • @carvinguitars i almost bought this amp used but it had shit broke like the ohm switch sliding and the power switch but hyeard and had my kinda fuzzy rich gainy thick sound i will own this amp hell with the boost you can destroy and my carvin ultra v oh my all carvin neeeds is erin fired and some other dude they always complain about in all the forums that dude is rude mr kissel shit can that pig listen to recorded calls sir thanks carvin love ya

  • @carvinguitars so what ARE the smart loops? effects loops?

  • @posiedonpowertrio besides, for more classical sound, you should check the legacy head, its amazing.

  • @posiedonpowertrio

the amp is better than its player, shit......

  • Is this being recorded using the direct out on the head? The sounds quality isn't that great. In fact, it sounds like a sloppy mess - which is unfortunate since I really *want* to like this amp and buy one, but this video makes me want to run away.

  • @zillathegorilla

this video does not show the sound of the amp at all! I watched this video a while back and decided to get the v3 anyways. I play in a proffessional 80s rock/hairband and the sounds are killer. once you play with the settings you can dial it in! for a live setting this amp is the way to go for the money!

  • @guitarlegend1129 Can you or someone else make a good quality recording which shows the amp in a better light? Most of the videos on youtube are either poor recordings or done with guitars that are no in standard tuning. Did you rebias the tubes or leave them stock?

  • @zillathegorilla ill see what I can do about a recording. I did rebias the tubes. i made them alot hotter. I put mesa 6L6's in the power section and I have groove tube 12ax7 in the preamp section. (it comes stock with groove tube el34s and 12ax7s) I have 1 mesa tube in the preamp position. the amp is awesome straight from the factory but my biasing and the amount of tubing I did gave it that extra kick

  • get some one who can at least play a little better carvin

  • Like the way it sounds during these clips.I got a chance to demo one at the Dallas guitar show and I could not get a good tone to save my life.Too buzzy and fuzzy for me,and I am a gain freak! Am I doing something wrong?

  • I've been playing around five years now, and I play a wide range of different rock music in my band, check out our videos. I'm looking for is a clean sound that will make me cry and distortion that will blow me off my feet. I can get this amp for around six hundred with hookups and I want to know if this would be the amp for me?

  • 4:35 ..... lul wut?

  • @SteveHubbardGuitar my thoughts exactly... (4:35 mess)

  • i dont know, is this an all tube amp, because during the distortion demo, i can sense a bit of a digital sound

  • This is my dream amp. Hopefully I can get the funds together to get a half stack V3 before the end of the school year. My Carvin CS6 will sound beast through this!

  • my v3 just came today and i must say i couldn't be any happier. i added the white and vintage 30 speakers and this thing sounds superb. good job carvin!

  • To Buzzy and nasal

  • do you guys think that this amp would work for progressive metal....like cynic and scale the summit?

  • this amp seems very complicated and confusing but its too amazing

  • Smart loops, Part of this balenced breakfast

  • I have a question, I've had this amp for almost two years now and I love it but now I would to plug straight into the amp to get as direct as possible but when I run my effects (distortion, delay, wah) it doesn't get the full effect. I would like to know if its something I'm doing........... or not doing

  • Very happy with thi samp....on/off switch and standby switch could be more rugged, but that is my only complaint so far...also don't like sound it makes when turning off, but the TONE?...UNBELIVABLE!!!....The best clean channel i have ever had...u want a Zappa type cleanish solo tone? This wiill do it...A screaming vai tone? This will do it....Does a pretty good thrash tone 2...even a swello blues tone....The BEST amp on the market for the price

  • Comment removed

  • never seen a that ugly guitar

  • Is it just me or does this guy sound like John Mc Cain ?? lol

  • I have A V3 and well the amp has oly had one problem. one day I wnt to turn it on and the pre amp tubes would light up but the main power tubes wouldn't. When I switched the standby off NO SOUND WOULD COME OUT so I got it fixed and I tested it out and it worked like new. I turned it off and the exact same thing happened again. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? Please and thank you.

  • @EJG5150 sounds like u need to send it back to carvin... i have the v3 and its the best amp i ever used... if u have ever turned it on without a speaker cab plugged in theres ur problem... u blew up some stuff inside...

  • @coldandhomeless hell no!!! I brought it into a Carvin store and they wanted to charge me $600 to replace the chasses. I took it into my amp guy and he said it will be $45 to fix bottom line... tubes were blown

  • @EJG5150 does urs have corners like this one? or is there 3 screws in the corners? cause when they changed the corners, most of the problems with the insides were taken care of around that time... mine has LEDs on the inside, and all stock... it all kicks ass too... i could send u my warantee papers if that helps lol.

  • @coldandhomeless mine is EXACTLY like this one

  • @EJG5150 see mines totally different than this... the power botton and the standby switches have a - and a 0. so its different now that they fixed all the problems... i would sell that one to someone who knows electronics, and just buy a new one... angelo didn't set his very crispy.....mines crispy.... watch my vids!!! they suck tho...

  • @coldandhomeless hey man I can't realy complain, I got it from a lady who had no idea what it was. Only cost me $40. The best buy of my life. But if I were to sell it I would probably buy an amp with a little less gain like a plexi copy or Peavey.

But I've got to admit Carvin is a good company.

  • Hey I am looking for a new amp right now and this one has been recommended by a friend of mine. I use a gibson les pual studio and the boss gt 10 multi effects board. Do you think this amp would sound good with this combination and using the gt10 just for modulation effects?

  • whats better for metalcore? Carvin V3 or Peavey 6505+?

  • how is it for metal?

  • as every tube amp it's need of a EQ in S/R to play solos.....

  • Just bought this amp! Amazing!

  • I think I like this amp! Just one question: Is it possible to get it with reverb?

  • No, reverb is not an option on this amp, but I run a Boss RV-5 reverb pedal through the effects loop and it sounds great!!! Just as good as spring reverb!!!

  • Can some one buy me this amp i want one bad !

  • There are three gain modes on each channel and two EQ range switches with the knobs. I do not fathom how one can get a bad tone, one actually needs to adjust things, the knobs actually turn...

also the limitations and crap bandwidth of uploading probably is limiting to the equation. try the mod I mentioned below and I put Tung Sol EL34Bs in mine. I suppose if one wants to pay 3 or 4x the bucks you can play the latest one trick pony. We all like what we have, of course. Carvin is a great buy

  • i got mine a week ago for 980$ with the diamondplate front, and they threw in the foot switch for free cause i didnt have enuff on my gift card! carvin is the best u guys! this fukkrr will have you sitting in your basement for months! the thing even has LED lights inside it, which you can set to change color when you switch channels. this dude has it set up for fizzyness! its actually alot clearer than this vid. put a boss supressor in the loop 1, delay in loop 2, and mxr microamp in the front!!

  • how much does this amp cost ?

  • this amp is actually quite cheap for what it offers ;)

it costs $800.00 USD but as i live in europe i pay in euros :) (535€), which is VERY cheap when you compare it to other amp manufacturers out there...

  • I like using the clean channel as good as I can get it and using my pedal board for tone changes. Tube gain is all fine and good but it is just one form and unless you want to rebias your amp and change tubes all the time, there are better ways to get tone and stay consistant. I play everything from intense Beck diffusion, Trower dark, Satch and Vai out of it. I demand my rig go from A to Z with a click. Try the loop 2 mod I mentioned, it is also footswitchable.

  • I paid $1327.49

This includes tax, shipping, and the foot switch. Great amp!

  • Combien coûte ce produit Neuf ?

    (en euros)

    merci

  • Here's a trick on the V3 Carvin does not know. Loop 2 the parallel loop, jumper the send/return with a short cable, turn the volume all the way up on the loop (back panel). This gives a sweet mid enhanced boost for clean or dirty, sounds better thicker than the front panel boost! This gives you two foot switch controlled boost options. This amp has more capability than you can imagine. You can spend $2000 for a Splawn or $1000 for this and save money, the 4x12 put my Marshall's to shame.

  • I don't mean to be a prick but with a name like "CarvinTone" I am very apprehensive about how honest and unbiased your input on carvin gear is.

  • I was going to use dadudeguy but it was taken. What can I say, I love the gear, my V3 is a great all tube amp. It works for me and I did not have to pay 4x the bucks and I have had the expensive gear and this amp can be adjusted for anything. I do not work for or get paid by Carvin, Just gear gear for the bucks, trying to help out these younger guys not to waste their moms money. I also love their guitars, I just made a killer DC135 strat, it's better than my EC model ever was.

  • I have played this amp for over a year and just retubed it. I get far better tones than these demos and bad comments. I have no ability to do videos much less make sure the sound does justice into a PC. The V3 is a great amp. I get a range of tones from it that you would not believe. I play a full step detuned but I have never found the amp to be fizzy or bad. I have clean glass channel, a Trower Vibe channel with dark no fizz dist, and a hot tube channel set up to be intense and heavy low end.

  • that thing is LAAARGE!

  • "That's what she said!"

    Sorry,I couldn't resist,honestly.

    On-topic:Seems like a good amp.

  • just found my new amp.

  • best part of the video = 3:31 - "so it's nice and clear". I lol'd.

  • what a brutal amp

  • ugly and every distortion mode wasn't my thing...cool amp though

  • I just love it when people say "Oh, this guy plays like shit, he ruins a good amp or guitar" or whatever the product is.

If you don't like the player, don't watch the damn video. Simple as that.

  • Love the random sweeping at 6:02! lmao!

  • DEadicicco This head is awsome over the last 20 years ive played a ton of heads and this is the best head ive ever owned its got crazy bottom end ant the gain is unmatched I play it threw 2 basson bottoms and the sound is insane ever show I play I get mad compliments on my sound if ur into high gain heads with big bottom end u have 2 check it out u wont regret it

  • that dude can shred, omg, but some of the first sounds were too dirty..not very good note separation on lead licks

  • he needs to bring his presence up. it sounds wierd.

  • carvin guitars are fantastic... i plan on getting one.

But i played the v3 at their store and didn't like the tone very much.

  • apparently it takes a really long time to dial in a great tone...I donno though, youve played it so you probably no more

  • haha. he sounds like george bush!

    cool amp.

  • @geetargeek79 I think he kinda also sounds like Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man haha

  • I own both the Carvin Legacy & the Carvin V3. Both are absolutely amazing amps. If you can't find your tone on the V3 then you have brain damage. Eric Johnson could find his tone on this versatile monster.

Mesa, Marshall, Bogner, Soldano, you name it - nothing can touch a Carvin amp. Nothing sounds as good, or is built nearly as well, and you simply can't beat the factory direct prices that Carvin has to offer. Carvin forever.

    Cheers

  • Hi great !!!

Can I command the channel of the V3 with the TCelectronic Nova system connected in midi?

    Thanks

  • played this amp n your store today im going to fucking buy it

  • what do smart loops do exactly

  • you cant get that many distortion tones out of most amps that is pretty impressive

  • Which speakers are better? Celestion Vintage 30s or 412T-75s. Looking to mostly play Hard Rock, but venturing into Metal.

  • for metal: V3o

  • The 412T-75s will most likely suit your needs if you are looking to play hard rock/metal. The 75's provide a tight, percussive and deep bass. The highs and mids cut through well and have a great singing characteristic for soloing. The Vintage 30's will give you a smoother, rounded, more classic tone, with less emphasis on the low end.

Both speakers are beautiful and sound awesome. Perhaps test out both and decide what you like best.

  • OMG a Kirk Hammett meets Kerry King lead starting at 4:54

  • This Carvin has got to be one of the heaviest amps I've heard in a while.

  • I think for getting all of those channels and tones in less than 10 minutes he did pretty good !

  • Have to pick the new Legacy 2 over this amp.

  • Please Let me know why. I am looking to buy either. I have a Laney TT50, and a Mesa Quad , but am thinking V3. Any info as to why the Legacy may be better? Thanks Phal

  • Legacy 2 has super clean channel. The best ever.

The Lead channel has a super tone to it.

Plus, it is a very simple amp to use.

Ben Fargan helped design this new amp.

Search Legacy 2 on here, Mr. Scott has 2 videos of it.

  • He's not the best player in the world, but it shows how even the most basic guitarist can really sound good with the right equipment.

I agree he could have dialed in some better tones as iv'e heard this amp really kick ass in the right hands.

  • Comment removed

  • I guess he's good enough for Carvin to "pay" him as a spokesperson...wonder how such a basic guitarist was chosen to represent a reputable company such as this.

There is always the chance that we haven't seen all his capabilities although perhaps Carvin was just using bad judgement, I'll start a campaign to get them to drop this guy in favor of you...I will start...Now " bingo is better-Jannotti never!" "bingo is a yes, Angelo equals Ange-No!"

  • Im sure that in the hands of someone who knows how to EQ their rig properly this amp is a fucking monster. Also, only 1500 for the half stack?!This will be my next amp now that ive heard what it can do,cant wait to see how it sounds pushed with some active pick ups and maybe an EQ pedal thrown in the mix.

  • Pretty cool amp. I don't go for the "scooped" settings though...

  • @Thirdgen83 I dig your screen name man...I love my '86!

  • This amp is really sick, I just bought one about 4 days ago. If you sit down and actually attempt to get a good tone out of it you can find it. I think the reason why most people do not like it is because it's not a mainstream amp and there isn't alot of common knowledge about how to get a good tone out of it like there would be for say a Mark IV.

This amp is a steal. It would retail for about $2000.00, but since Carvin sells direct they're able to sell it for alot less.

  • god i need this amp. I hope it's reliable. I seem to be the only sucker on earth with an unreliable X100B. does carvin offer equipment at cost for touring bands?

  • Dude, Ive had an X100B for EVER, and it still is the most reliable amp Ive ever owned. Im also going to get the V3, just for a tonal difference - experiment time, basically...

  • wow, not too bad. the tone, in my opinion, was a little too scooped, but i'm sure thats just the way that he had it. i myself am a mesa man, but this amp doesn't sound half bad. the cleans...eh. they were average.

  • The amp's not a piece of garbage, he just has it dialed in very poorly. I own it and I've gotten amazing results with it, and I'm insanely picky. His sounds like poop in my opinion.

  • Either Way....Legacy = better. lol. This one has more gain, but the Legacy Clean trumps it 10000000000000000 to 1.

  • That's a pretty hefty statement about the cleans, but I will give you that; they are better on the legacy, but the V3 cleans are by no means bad. The 3 voicings of each channel (clean and distortion) on the V3 gives a ton of versatility. Seriously though, the V3 is sick for the money. Not saying I don't like the legacy, cause heck I'd buy one. They're great. I just don't like you bashing the V3 just cause this dude doesn't know how to make one sound good. :) They're a hard beast to tame.

  • i'm actually really interested in buying this amp, check out carvins forum for everything you need to know

  • Monster!!

  • check that thick out wohoo!

  • I have this amp! Its freakin SICK!

  • I bet haha.

    How much?

  • It was about $1050 brand new after tax and shipping and everything. You can find them on Ebay used for like $700 - $800.

  • what about the cab?

    does that include the cab?

  • I've one of these, and it's a very versatile amp, check out my vids!!! :)

  • I WANT ONE.

  • ANGELO ROCKS! thanks for posting.
