The iPod Touch has a fixed focus lens. When you hold your finger on the screen (or tap it several times like in this video), you're changing the EXPOSURE of the picture, not the focus. Also, just pinching or separating two fingers zooms, like viewing any other picture. (If you don't believe me, just look up the tech specs of the iPT on apple's website).

Well I get the focus by triple tapping, but not the zoom... Except sometimes when I use the camera on the back of my iPod if I hold down two fingers for a while an then spread them apart like zooming in on a picture, then it actually gets the zoom thing, but the triple tap absolutely doesn't work for zooming

I have the white 4th Gen. the double tapping you talk about in the video brought up the blue square. In order to zoom in i had to use the double finger spread apart. like you would do on a web page to make it bigger. then my zoom bar showed up. hope this will help others who are having trouble with this feature. :)

I found that if you use both of your thumbs simultaneously , it will bring up the zoom. Also using three fingers and tap twice, but I think some phones vary in sensitivity. Thanks Capt. Bill

@MagicLittleSecrets Make sure to check that you are not in video mode and you are using the back facing camera. That is the only time it will give you the option to use digital zoom.

Wrong! The iPod touch 4G does NOT have autofocus, what you see when you tap on the screen, and you see the white box, this is the brightness balance, and if you want the zoom bar, you tap it once.
