There's a big debate in the biology community over whether pigeons should be put in the same taxonomic class as other upside down birds, or the same class as the right side up birds -- it's based on ancestry, and nobody can tell where they originated from, what with Australian pigeon species being right side up.

I'd be fairly sure the narrator is Peter Serafinowicz. In Episode Six of the series they do a Birds of Britain segment when Leonard Hatred runs into the studio, and on the DVD Commentary they said they invited the guy who did the voiceover for Series One to do it for this but he didn't want to so Peter did it instead.
