  • prs body shape?

  • you should be able to clear coat it and hand buff it. i do strat necks in laquer . i use a watco spray bomb and do a few light coats , giving it time to dry in between. and i got some rubbing compound from an autobody supplier . it was two products a rub and a glaze. works great and you can get a thin glossy coat. watco spray home depot ,box of rags and compound from auto body place. and dont buy simonize or turtle wax crap. i spent $100 . its worth it. the satin looks cool though...

  • nice username

  • Very cool. I got 2 kits coming from Grizzly. Use their tools too. Good company. Thanks for the video!

  • Nice! You guys put together a nice looking guitar.

I'm eventually going to get one from Grizzly and put it together. But I'm going to start with a ukulele first. About how many hours did you put into making the guitar?

  • The pickups sound pretty good. Would you recommend them as a cheap option?

  • Thanks for the feedback, ifezine.

I would actually recommend these pickups as any option, regardless of price. I think they sound great, and their low price makes them a steal.

The owner of Grizzly is a luthier and only sells what he believes are the best products for guitars.

    Cheers,

  • @capsaicinrain Thanks! I'll be building a guitar this year and was looking into these pickups. I think you've pretty much sold me on them!

  • are the knobs push pull?

  • Nope

  • idk i looked ate the kit and it looked like they were

  • Have you ever played a American made prs. How does it compare as far as playability. I've been looking at the kits for awhile and I just wanna make sure it's worth the money and time involved buying one. Thanks

  • @spiffywizzleteeth, I have, and obviously this guitar's craftsmanship wont be the same, since I built and painted it myself. But the action and playability are superb, and the sound is amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

  • That finish is nice how'd you do it?I mean like the process of painting, apllying satin laquer, etc

  • We sanded it with 300, 400, 600, and 800 grit sandpaper. The 600 and 800 we wetsanded it (a little soapy water on the body and just sand with the grain.)

Once it was smooth we just rubbed the stain on with a rag. Re let it dry and repeated about 5 or so times. When we were satisfied with the color, we sprayed an Aerosol satin laquer all over the neck and body. About 4 coats of that, with some mild wet sanding in between.

  • Cool. Once again dude, you did an excellent job, better finish than PRS's in my opinion.

  • You NEED to go WAY finer on the wet n dry than 800!!!

I am in the process of making a Tele kit with an ash body.

I started with 1000, then went 1500 then 2000 grit, & finally finished with 0000 steel wool. GOT the timber semi shiny on its own.

The body & neck are going to the finishers tomorrow for pro spraying in light eurathane, hi gloss.

    Cheers!

  • that's pretty nice. idk if i'd buy one, but if i had the time and money i definately would

  • I'm gonna get the one with the Floyd on it and stain it purple. I'll post a vid about it eventually too.

I'd rather set it up as a bolt-on though, since it makes getting good action a lot easier with the Floyd.

Sick guitar though. Looks just like a PRS, aside from the headstock.

  • Man that is going to look nice. Good luck and be sure to show me a cid when you're done with it.

  • che taylor qué guitarra es esa colgada en la pared cerca del poster del mejor equipo?

  • es mi bajo

  • hey im thinking about getting the same kit myself... and i was just wondering how you did the paint job it's a little blurry on here... is it a burst? did you do the lighter color first then the dark? thanks

  • No, we just got that crimson, and rubbed it on more on the edges. The more you layer it the darker it gets.

It was just a die rubbed on with an old rag.

  • oh wow... thanks a lot man, it came out real good... did you get it at a paint store? or online?

  • sure.

I got it from the Grizzly company, with the guitar.

  • Holy cow, dude. That guitar is so nice! You guys did a great job with the paint too. How long did it take you guys to put it all together?

The clean sound is crystal clear and the distortion is sharp...very nice indeed.

  • Thanks man.

From start to finish I would say it took about 2 months, although I'm sure we could have gotten it done faster If I didn't have school or anything like that.

  • thats really cool

  • thanks man
