  • Grandissima! Ce ne fossero che cantano il barocco come lo canta leì. Vale più lei di 10000 specialiste!

  • Thank you for posting these videos. These performances were wonderful. Ruth Ann was in great form, as was Susan Graham. Patrick Summers was just a much a star of the show. The only disappointment was that Ewa Podles cancelled.

  • B.R.A.V.I.S.S.I.M.A. !!!

  • cool! i thought so :) Yeah, Ruth Ann rocks...i am not into the hyped modern singers (Netrebko, Damrau,;even Dessay is a bit overrated)...gone are the days when hype actually meant something (i.e. Sutherland, Price, Nilsson, etc.)...

  • I'm glad to see she's still singing, but she should stay away from those squally high notes: they're really ugly. She lost those notes even before she became ill.

  • @riccardo699

Strange! i hear a strong and powerful D ( as it was in Lyon Maria Stuarda 2007) not at all "squally".

  • peter gelb is an idiot

  • that is the truth. she is fantastic and he is missing out big time. She is a great American singer and he will not let her be on our greatest stage. Shameful!!

  • instead he likes em singers who a.) dont take the time to study and do the cadenza written for her by the leading musicologist of our time coz frankly she couldnt be bothered; b.) disappoints a full-house with a doule-flat ending to Lucia's madscene and the cabaletta; c.) scoops and slides up to their high notes d.)spastic on stage..

    i could keep going

  • i agree. she is such a disappointment because she has alot going for her and doesnt use a whit of it properly. i dont advise writing anything negative on her pages though, unless u want to be attacked by a ton of idiots who somehow think that jsut because u hate her means u also hate domingo as well. makes no sense

  • who r u talking about? Ruth Ann??

  • haha noooo way. i think the guy above was trash talking netrebko and i agree with what he is saying. ruth ann is one of the few good singers on the stage these days.

  • oh I love good hate talk, but I'm not familiar with what happened, what did Gelb do?

  • haha i have no idea.

  • Wonderful! Yes, Ruth Ann, there is a career beyond the Met.

  • Bravaaaaa!

  • Very interesting. This is Swenson's third Handel role, isn't it? In any case, I would like to hear more of this. I missed an encore radio broadcast of this production that aired a few weeks ago, so I'm hoping they air another one soon Thanks for sharing all of these wonderful clips.

  • I´m happy her voice has not been affected by her illness. Wonderful!

  • BRAVA DIVA!!!I saw two performances of this opera in SF...and RAS was thrilling. Congrats to her...and P.S...there is LIFE outside of the Met Opera.

  • That woman is a marvel of technique, pure tone and musicianship - add to that she had to fight cancer and still refuses to give one ounce less of herself - a wonderful artist. The thrilling cadenza up to high D was a unbelievable bonus in an already perfect performance of that aria.

  • Her voice has changed as a result of chemotherapy, but she is as stunning as ever in Handel. She really is the best Handelian voice I've heard of late. de Niese has NOTHING on this lady.

  • no she doesnt. i agree her voice has changed but to be honest it is quite a nice change. i feel like there is more depth to it.

  • She is fabulous, as always.
