i did the 2008 40 hour famine and in 2009 both years we went with out food and furniture but this year me and my friend are doing no food,bathing , shoes, electricity and furniture then we r going to also do heeps of things at school like sosage sizzle free dress ect we r going to aim for $8000 plus 300+$ for other sponsers then we r going to sponser a child and also l8r on r going to do the christmas box also i personally do the gifts iv sent 4 mozzi nets 2 goats 4 chickens emergency food $edu

for my mini class we are doing this we are shopping to send food we are selling ice cream sundaes at school 4 2$ to raise the money and we are going to ring bells at stores to raise money too probably we want to fight this and help the darfurs too! we made a paper timeline out of links we made to represent the number of people that have died the 30 hour famine ppl sent us a kit to get started on saving the planet and being hungry!

I just did this with my church group. I ate for the first time in 40 hours today at noon. Yea, it's 30 hour famine, but...I forgot to get up and eat before it started yesterday at 6 AM. oops.

i went to this years 30 hour famine for the first time and it was amazing!

im doing this again in april. it was so hard last year because i eat like 5 meals a day ahah. and i had to go to rowing practice that morning...

but its so much fun to do. if you like this i recommend taking the vow of silence (for free the children) ! its happening in the first week of march.

Apart from all its good I should bring to notice of people that World Vision has bias toward girl child.

People involved should protest against this.

Proof: All the ads put by WV on times of India show only girl child.

I'm in the process of doing it right now and I also did it back in March, I have to say one of the best experiences of my life. I became closer to God and I felt really good afterwards knowing that I made a difference.

my schools doing it on the 08/09 of april( i am doing it rite now) its almost been 12 hours and untill you do the famine you don't realize how lucky you are to have food to eat when ever you want., without having to worry about ever going hungry !

Food shortage will be increasing in the next 5 or 10 years the rich in the developed countries are investing their money in how to transform food into fuel for their cars. I think that this is the ugliest idea had ever come into man's brain in the history of humanity. We should feed people and not cars !

im so happy my youth group leader told me about this. ive been fundraising for about 2 weeks and ive almost reached my goal of 500 dollars. right now, im 37 minutes into my famine. im already hungry, but its showing me the real purpose of this project. they have to be hungry for even more than 30 hours. im just overjoyed that i can do something about it, no matter how small.

its not really hard at all, just be sure not to pig out after your done, bad things happen to your stomach if you do...

we participate in little group activities. we also do one main big project. we worship, sing, and praise God, ofcourse. and we help raise money, ofcourse. xD also we bought food for the local starving children and such. (well.. thats what our churches did)

you do get tired after like.. 25 hours or so. i had a headache. but it's really worth it because you see what it's like for some people.. and to think.. some go longer. it's a worthwhile experience. (:

i did this w/ my youth group. it was amazing because we had a bishop from tanzania who said that poverty in his area was horrible, and we were finally doing something, and we also had a lot of empathy for kids who go through that every single day

OMG, my Church youth gropu just did the 30 hour famine and I just have to say, it was one of the most moving experiences of my life. I couldn't belive just how easy it was not only for me to not eat but to open up to evyone and evrything and just be true to myself. I would definately recommend doing the 30 hour famine to anyone who wants to make a difference in the world.

A couple of friends and I did a 60 hour famine and this was my first year doing it. I felt like that first night laying down to sleep knowing that my next meal was days away gave me such burden for this movement that it was almost easy to do knowing that with the donations that i was getting i was feeding hundreds of children. One of the biggest motivations was my friend mwangi from Kenya who has family that for all i know i was helping and it was such a blessing. Like a walkathon with pain!
