  • I served with Ed in L Co. 7th Marines on Cape Gloucester. I was in the weapons platoon, mortar section. Our Platoon Leader was Tom O'Leary who was one of the men who pulled Ed out at Suicide Creek. O'Leary was from Olympus, Washington not New York as Ed wrote. O'Leary was also wounded on Cape Gloucester and again at Peleliu, that was when I took over our mortar section. After we crossed the Creek we went back and helped the graves detail recover our men who had been killed.

  • Had the pleasure of seeing Bearss speak at Gettysburg nearly 10 years ago. Incredible man.

  • January 2nd was my Grandfathers birthday and was on Cape Gloucester on that date

  • I love how that man can tell his story.

  • I love how he tells a story. It's a little hammy and excitable, but that's what makes him so endearing.

  • This man is related to me somehow... my maiden name is Bearss. Bearss' are all related; its a small family tree. Weirdness. o_O

  • Ed is my hero! I've gone on several of his battlefield tours both civil war and WWII. I love this man! Semper Fi to the best historian ever! Even though he's 83 he will wear you out on a tour walking those battlefields, its hard to keep up with him.

  • xD too fun !! lets chat c my profile! v

  • God bless & keep you, Ed. Semper Fi.

  • Semper Fi.
