  • THIS IS PUNK.

  • Hahaha, rapid fire downstrokes

  • I love how he does a little hop at the end like "yeah i did it"

  • aguantee JONYY !! :) I ♥ the ramones !!

  • Joey looks like he's having a heart attack! He's a true rocker R.I.P I'm still sad that Joeys not with us

  • Johnny Ramone, the Father of Punk Rock Guitar

  • @Agu1504 chupate una chota muy grande

  • @LosVideosDeFideo mejor hacelo vos que tenes experiencia!

  • The Ramones didn't need solos. And I'm not sure I would call that a solo, more like a guitar interlude or something.

  • Man, I love The Ramones, but that was not a "solo", if you know what I mean.

  • Johnny made me realize I could use my ADD about learning scales to my advantage.

  • this is the only solo he ever played in his life hahah

  • LOL

  • awesome guitar solo

  • What song is this?

  • @ScotchVomitPepper "I cant make it on time"

  • @MaironBresciani Thanks

  • AWESOME. THAT WAS A SOLO! johnny's the shit

  • Nice, I love Ramones

  • @microadvent22 i can't make it on time

  • :D great johnny!

  • A True Johnny SOLO!!!

  • A true Johnny SOLO LOL Love The Ramones

  • this is not a solo

  • @mestrexbox it is if its about Johnny ;D

  • @m0n0nen lol

  • @mestrexbox its a ramones solo

  • @SephirohsReunion what music is that ?

  • that song was I can't make it on time, from the album end of the century!! and it was not a solo

Aguante Johnny Ramone

  • Ramones fan here...

    That ain't a guitar solo.

  • Johnny is not playing that "solo".

It's pretty well known that there was a guitarist backstage that would play the fill-ins & solos if they were to be included...often times, they were not.

  • @asmorgan88

I think he is playing this one, but you're right about second guitarist.

    watch?v=lJVa8L7Cgts

Here can be heard clearly second guitar solo.

  • @drejaramone

Nah man - I'm fucking obsessed with this band & have done so much reading on them over the years...Johnny NEVER played a lick live.

Sometimes, at the end of "Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World", he would do a quick hammer on/pull off up on the 2nd & 3rd frets of the low E string...the motherfucker played nothing but downstroked power chords live.

  • @asmorgan88

I don't know... maybe you're right... but i can't hear the riff going while the solo is played, and at the very end of solo i see Johnny playing that finishing part of the solo (on G string, bending from tone D to E)...

Nice talking with someone obsessed with the Ramones. :)

    Take care.

  • @drejaramone

When you say "Dreja Ramone", is that a tribute to Chris Dreja from The Yardbirds?

The Ramones are my favorite ever, followed by The Yardbirds.

  • @asmorgan88

No, my name is Andreja, but my parents gave me nickname Dreja. I remember as a kid, i was looking at the Five Live LP, and i was thrilled when i learned that there was Dreja in the band. :)

  • @asmorgan88

not to be disrespectful in ANY WAY to a fellow Ramones fan, but havent u ever seen footage of these guys playing "California Sun" or "Now I wanna sniff some glue"? johnny DOES play lead on special occasions. and btw, this video is a scene off of "Ramones: Raw" which has audio commentary with Marky and Johnny. when this part comes up, John says "I'm really showing some versatility there"

  • @defleppardfan69

Hate to sound like an asshole, but riffs & fills are categorized as being rhythm guitar work.

  • @asmorgan88

its all good man. i didnt think u sounded like an asshole. i completely see your point

  • @asmorgan88

check here today gone tomorrow at 1:45

    watch?v=FnN6xfNu_Mo

  • @odjebantus

If you look at an earlier post, I claimed that he does a hammer and pull off at the end of "Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World" when played live.

  • this is one of the ones off of EOTC by Phil Spector. RnR High , Rock n Roll radio, and Chinees Rocks are the only ones that were played on the regular live since probally 83'.

  • his best guitar in a song ia probably teenage lobotomy.

  • Oh no no no, Johnny don't play solos, he plays bridges and London Bridge is falling down from the shear punk sound! ;)

  • i love the ramones, real punk rock. what punks bands do we have today? greengay? cum 41? SHIT!

  • which the name of this song?

  • The name of the song is "I Can't Make It On Time" wich they didn't use to play live

  • Thanks

  • That wasn't a solo. haha that was just a lead riff..

  • johnny ramone said he hated solos XD

  • hahahah yeah you could even tell that by the look in his eyes when Ramones played live and he had to solo:D

I totaly agree with him. When I play guitar with my -77 punk band I don't wanna solo either, much more fun to just play downstroked powerchords;)

  • @croby i think its kinda fun to solo

  • @randomstofil

Me and him think the same

  • @randomstofil frankly he wasn't even able to do solos.. he only used his thrashing power chords :)

  • @HimbeerSab johnny only used bar chords and downstrokes....

  • no bullshit rock n roll, awesome

  • Lol...i love the ramones-

He's the guitarist is number 16 on the list of the Top 100

  • JOHNNY RAMONE SOLO!

I just had to see this.

You all know how classic they are when it comes to their music.

  • The Real Punk, without big and complicated solos.

  • EXACTLY!

  • @juanjacobo454 Or any sort of musical talent.

  • @dhhs91 Thats why they were around for 20 plus years and are called the godfathers of punk, and in the hall of fame, cuz he has no talent.....Seeing how you dont need talent, when will you be able to do all those things?

  • @liberalsaregaywhads The only reason they became famous is because their fans could connect to them, to their idea of "fuck everything/I want to be a rockstar even though I've never studied anything related to music". That idea was new (because at that time MUSICians knew about MUSIC), and a whole generation of stupid teenagers held on to it. Hence, they became famous. For having no talent. I'm glad that you get the point.

  • @dhhs91 I guess you didnt get my point either , but oh well, Ramones rule either way.

  • @juanjacobo454 also without solos......

  • johnny you rule

  • It's much better than: John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, David Gilmour, etc....

Johnny Ramone it's the best of th world!!!

    uhuuuuuu....

  • agreed.

The right hand of Johnny is so strong

  • ハッハーgreat! and what song is this!?

  • i cant make it on time, from end of the century cd

  • johnny is great

  • i want 2 make my hair look like Johny :(

    R.I.P

    Joey,Johny and Deedee

  • its easy, he told oce that he use d a bowl hair cut, you have to put a bowl in your head and cut the hair that is not iside of the bowl

  • @dRaK0RaMone yeah I use a bowl to trim the front of my hair than I watch the family eat out of it XD

  • @BluntObject1234 don`t tell me they eat re-fried beans out of it

  • @unclemort1960 when we have tacos yeah were a happy family

  • you're right, he couldn't play but he made best of what he had. think about it. it's not an insult at all (the way im saying it). johnny wanted to make great rock n' roll with limited musicianship. he took that philosophy to the edge and played really really fucking fast!

johnny didn't have to play solos to make himself great. he just did his own thing

  • yeah i know and thats why i said it, i respect any musician that makes great music no matter how good or crappy they play

  • what song is this?

  • i cant make it on time

  • Johnny hated solos?

  • yes,sir

  • How do you trim videos? what programs do you have? Thanks very good video. I await your response

  • yes is i cant make it on time and sure!

    short but great

  • very very difficult!!!

  • Real punk!

  • WHAT'S THE SONG OF THE SOLO?

  • i cant make it on time

  • EPIC

  • Every knob was set to 10

  • Seriously?

  • maybe you do it better but he invented it

  • what song is that?

  • It's I Can't Make It On Time On End Of The Century

  • I love Johnny Ramone

  • he founded the locomotive guitar

  • Simple and Awesome solo!

  • what's the name of the song?

  • "I can't make it on time". It's on End of the Century

  • Thanks

  • the Ramones are goddamn legends and i'll be a fan till i die.

but this isnt really a solo!! the ramones didnt need solos!

  • Appocolyptic - Get a grip dude! How many arenas have you played guitar in lately?Ya don't gotta like the guy; but you MIGHT respect the utterly unique guitar magic that HE and ONLY, ONLY HE has ever been able to create. Rolling Stone, other esteemed critics and a kajillion fans worldwide feel a tremendous joy, kick & happiness from it. So get offa your throne and Gabba Gabba!

  • if you dont think johny is a great guitarist then you obviously dont get muisc. fact just because someone is good at guitar doesnt make them a good musician

  • Stop crying, babies. Get the FUCK out of the house and start listening.

  • well you cant compair johnny ramone with those old farts you name - most of them play weakass heavy - johnny was a punk guitarist.

  • Why the fuck is this guy in the top 15 best guitarists of all time list by Rolling Stones? He's decentish, but in no way shape or form is he on the same level as Hendrix, Satriani, Iomi, Gilbert, Rhodes, Allman, Gilmour, Page or Powell. Like seriously, comparing Ramone to any of the above is like comparing Man United to Acrington Stanley, or Harlem Globetrotters to the local county jail B-Boys

  • Probably 'cause he didn't play like every one else even crated the buzzsaw technique, Johnny was the man!! God bless Johnny and God bless America

  • Comment removed

  • You guys are sooo wrong Johnny IS aog, all the Ramones were!

  • is a god****

  • you guys are really dumb

johnny ramone only used down strokes. try doing that for 24 years.

  • Totally agree, he's no Satriani or Van Halen

  • He was not nearly as "good" as Van Halen at the guitar, but HE ADDED JUST AS MUCH OR MORE TO THE MUSIC SCENE.

  • @Johnny777Juke But Eddie Van Halen did too much fingertapping.

  • Dyde, yeah he is, why else would he be #16 on rolling stone's list of 100 greatest guitarists for nothing!

  • dude****

  • Umm..just becouse he didn't shred guitar doesnt mean he sucks at it. He played with soul and heart wich made him good.

  • what song is this?

  • I can't make it on time

  • Too right, is that the best a punk guitarist can come up with.

  • to anyone trying to put down johnny ramone- he was fucking amazing! and he could play lead and he could play it really well, look at any interviews of people who have jammed with him: they have all said that he was great at it. the only reason he rarely played lead was because he figured that if he created the punk sound, why change it in concerts?

  • he was great fuck off who think that is easy to play 1 whole concert like him!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Judging by that screen handle, I suspect we have a Metallica fan here feeling the need to comment on the Ramones.... it's a bit like a vegetarian critiquing a steak dinner. Ramones fans tend not to favour wanky guitar solos offered by the likes of Kirk Hammett. By the way, it takes an inhuman work ethic to play guitar Johnny Ramone style, *very* few people on the planet can do it, the fact that's it's not musically complicated at all matters little, it's an unmistakable sound.

  • Kirk Hammett is a pretty good guitarist though :S

  • Yeah, I agree xD

  • Sorry, I don't think so.

I think He is just a normal guitarrist. I think that there's a bunch of people that can *more or less* do that. Get the perfect style is hard, I know, but a lot of guitarrist have a "harder-to-play" style. I'm not Metallica fan... But I think we all agree that 100 list was crappy 100%... C'mon, Brian May is NOT worse than Johnny (just an example).

But he's good and he did a good job.

  • i agree with you 100 percent man. he is hugely overrated and doesnt deserve to be on the rolling stones greatest guitarist list, but that whole list was crap anyway.

  • fuck you johnny ramone played as a legend in my books he has a statuie of himself at his grave dip shit!

  • whoa whoa whoa! you don't talk about johnny like that; johnny ramone is GOD!!!

  • hes good but he isn't a God like you siad

  • fuck you with your friend bush johnny!!!!

  • fuckcing best gutarrsit !!!

  • hey plays a solo in i just wanna have somethin to do, as well, and in another song, im not sure what its called

  • The list of 100 best guitarists is a shit and so is Johnny Ramone

  • so fuckin true

that list is terrible the guys that made it dont know shit about guitar

  • try playing a whole ramones concert ainstead of showing off ur guitar skills to impress ,u idiot

  • fuck off, johnny ramone is amazing, you try playing an hour straight just using down strokes.

  • really disasterpiece, anyone can go big with 4 chords and a way to kiss ass... its all in who you are and what you do.. Not how good you do it, johnny ramone and all of ac/dc are fine representations of my point... And i think you should change your name to ms cleo... dumbshit....
