This is a really great movie, and the score is well played and better sung. I enjoy it, and the libretto is not so bad. Mozart will be happy (and Schikaneder too, I think)
I have seen many versions of Die Zauberflote but I've never heard such amazing singing. The orchestra is brilliant too. It's not too slow, not too fast. Absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
This is a nice movie. I don't mind too much that it's in English and it's very well enunciated. My biggest complaint is that all the music is played very fast. "Das Klinget So Herrlich" (part of "Schnelle Füße, Rascher Mut") is such a wonderful melody but is ruined by the speed at which it's played. They also should have kept the racism and the sexism and some very important lines of dialog have been changed or omitted, which only really matters if you're into studying this opera.
@arageneralbelgrano 100% with u, the only advantage it has is that i can understand what they are saying...execution on the piece 0% sounds worst then a Broadway musical
@arageneralbelgrano On the contrary, this libretto is far superior to Schikenader's.You just suffer from the sock of actually understanding the words.
@HConstantine i totally agree. i know the original by heart (i´m german myself) and while i love it, i can´t help noticing some of the rather silly twists and inconsistencies (not to mention the funny misogyny!). this version is a very gentle transformation which preserves all the good parts, gives the plot a new universal direction and highlights the character relations (friendship tamino/papageno, antagonism sarastro/queen, the romantic/funny couples).
The "magic flute" is the Zionist dicks hard-on for money and lust for killing innocent people whom they dupe into war that only profit the occult leaders.
They execute the masses by throwing men into zones to be shot and blown apart and make soldiers kill families in their homes.
Zionist love killing babies. Killing babies is their favorite pastime. They like the feeling of power they get by blowing up infants, they always have since ancient times. The Testaments display a lust to kill babies.
At 8:58 the man in BLUE asks if it's a dream. The DREAM in the Jews' Torah is their goal of building the City of Gold by robbing and killing as many non-Jews as possible. Zion is the city being built by Zionists by inciting wars based on lies like the Gulf of Tonkin incident, Pearl Harbor and 9/11. 9/11 was done by Zionists such as the Rothschild bankers. Zionist bankers make most of their money in drug trafficking and by inciting wars and making all citizens pay interest on money used for war.
I have better lyrics for this Freemason occult opera: Blood, blood, blood fa la la la la death, death, death, fa la la la la lots of destruction fa la la la la Zionists are sick in the head fa la la la la Zionist Jews control the music industry putting sick messages in music for you and me fa la la la la If you don't know this you are dumb Zionists enslave and kill everyone for fun fa la la la la War is good if you're a Zionist Jew who lives by robbing me and you fa la la la la la la la la la.
The dying soldiers' d*ck is the magic flute that comes alive when 6 tits are shoved into his mouth on the battlefield where he's surrounding by dead men whose legs are blown off and faces are blackening from decay.
The stench of death and tits makes a man's d*ck hard. Ahh, a clear Illuminati message. The Illuminati Zionist Jew mentality that did 9/11 and produced the Limp Bisket album called "Rearranged" (New World Order).
David Geffen must do boys in the rear watching this opera.
I love the translation. My students can understand and thus enjoy this version much better. The singing isn't as good as some other productions but still great enough for me to share examples of great opera singing. I love how the 3 ladies are are all nuns dressed fabulously in white and then show a little bit of their slutty side. Hysterical! Mozart would have loved it!
I kind of like this version, above all Papageno. Whereas, Pamina, the three boys and the Queen..... oh well not much. They sound a little too sharp and squeaky. Personally I think the translation is not so bad, but obviously it spoils the musicality of the German version.
i think it works fine. and actually, even though i´m german, i don´t understand all the words of the original if i don´t have the libretto to read along ...;-)
FirstLifeFan: For English-speakers like me, learning German from old operas can be dangerous. "Frau" is now the appropriate word for "wife", whereas "Weib" (used in Die Zauberflöte) is now pejorative. I learned that the hard way. Also, words like "Knäbchen" and "seist" have become archaic. I never did find out what the latter means. How is, "sag mir wer du seist" different from, "sag mir wer du bist?"
podx990: "seist" in this case is just archaic, as you say. here, it means exactly the same as "bist". technically it´s the conditional mode of the verb. for a native speaker, the german libretto here reads old-fashioned, which it is, but easy to understand nonetheless. i can imagine the differences must be hard to spot for a non-native speaker.
Mozart in Heaven On December, 5 of 1791 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Entered heaven, as a circus artist, doing extraordinary acrobatics riding a miraculous white horse. Astonished, the little angels was saying: What happened? What did not happened? Unseen melodyes have flyed on the Supplementary Superiors lines of the stave. A moment was suspended in the ineffable Contemplation. The Virgin kissed him on the forehead. And, since then, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was the younger of angels M. Bandeira
I notice that too; it just doesn't sound as nice as "Nein, nein, das kann nicht sein." Oh well, I found the music to be quite nice in this movie, although I like "das klinget so herrlich" played slower than is usually done; it's such a nice melody.
This is a really great movie, and the score is well played and better sung. I enjoy it, and the libretto is not so bad. Mozart will be happy (and Schikaneder too, I think)

Oh, yeah! Whip 6 tits out, that's how you cure a man being chased down by the angel of death. Distract him with a mouthful of tit.
Great writing. Very imaginative.
