There is so many computers that are overlooking ever single thing the car is doing to counter act and perfect its movement through a track. The $80,000 USD is a small price to pay for Japan's "Super Car" that can easily keep up with a bugatti veyron when you invest another $50,000 compared to 3 million for a Veyron.

The NSX matches it in accelleration beats it around the twisties but cannot get the top speed a supra can and also was $40K more brand new. The only car that really trumped the MKIV Supra was the Skyline GT-R R3X only sold in Japan.

I like the Nissan GT-R but for the price of it like £50,000, your better off buy a stock twin turbo Toyota Supra and then modify it. I think twin turbo Supras are in the grasp of an average person, just work and save your money like £20 a week it'll soon build up.

@CJAEY my friend bought one for 13.5k. and here in Cali an average twin turbo supra goes for 20-25k. im not saying that there arentt supras that cost more than that because there are. it just depends on the upgrades and overall conditions of the car. but u can get a decent one for under 20k.
Yeah, people watch too much youtube of supra's that have like 50k or more invested and think the supra was always a fast car. The supra unmodified was a very average level sports car, average in straight line performance and terrible handling. Yeah, that can be turned into a straight line monster, but once a curve comes up, you better get slowed quick.
@Curveball Supras are excellent handlers. Remember the car was released in 1993. It has a skidpad of .98 stock and held the record of 70-0 braking until 2004. I wouldn't say that Supras are horrble handlers. They handle better than a lot of imports even ones out now.
Stock they were in the same performance range of the Camaro SS and the Corvette.

BUT....When you put 800+hp to the wheel, guess what? It's handling is ruined. It is forever a straight line car, because just like the 'just' 640hp ZR1, you have to baby the throttle out of a corner. You need AWD with that kind of power to be able to still handle on a track in a production version car.
@Curveball Please. The Camaro SS couldn't hold a candle to a stock Supra in any form of performance until the LS1 camaros came out (98-02). Same goes for the the LT1 platform in general. You don't need AWD to put good power on the track. All of the fastest cars on the Nurburgring are RWD. The fastest AWD car around the ring is the R35 GTR and its like number 11 around it. It is not a straight line car forever.
In a straight line, maybe. It will never beat a GTR on a track. And if the only thing you get for a Supra is a big turbo, then you'll not have the car for very long before it breaks something.
@Curveball You should come to Nashville Superspeedway sometime and see my friend in his 590whp Supra walk all over GT-Rs around the roadcourse. AWD is not a silver bullet.
@Curveball How many cars do you actually know make 800hp that are track cars other than purpose built race cars? If you go on a track day even with the fastest cars on one day you won't see many at all.
@Curveball, You need to lookup the performance stats of the stock supra turbo before commenting! It was actually a very fast car when it came out. It did 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds which is as quick as a brand new stock WRX, it's quicker than a new MAzda 3 MPS, as quick as a new hplden ss V8, Ford Xr6 Turbo etc etc. Remember it came out 13 years ago. If you ask me it was a weapon when it came out. IT was even faster than the Honda NSX.
@Curveball, i wasn't commenting on your comparisson with the LT4. All i'm saying is that it's a bit silly saying the supra had average to poor performance as you said. It was infact a quick car, hence the reason it became one of the biggest tuned vehicles on the market. Sure there were quicker cars around but you can't call everything else garbage just because a few cars were a tiny bit quicker. Besides, the Supra was an imported vehicle so it was naturally going to be more expensive.
I did not say it was poor, I said it was average. Compare stock cars at every price range, and the Supra was right in there with the Camaro SS. Solid performance, but nothing compared to the stock performance cars of today.
The Supra was a popular build because it's motor could handle 600hp on the stock bottom end of the motor and still be reliable. So they were fairly cheap to push to that 600hp. (Fairly cheap still pushing 10k plus the price of the car)
@Curveball Try 800whp on the stock bottom end and still be reliable. There are numerous builds that have reliably put down 800whp with no problems to date to include my car.
@Curveball This is coming from a guy who has never, maintained or even worked on a Supra trying to say the tolerances of the stock short block. Like I said before a stock bottom end 2JZ-GTE holds up more power than a stock bottom end LS1 (or LS6 for that matter). This is coming from someone who owns both.
@Curveball The LS7 is only good to about 650rwhp on the stock bottom end. This was stated by East Coast Supercharging in NJ who works primarily on Corvettes and the place where I bought the paxton for my vette. The reason for that limit is the thin cylinder walls due to the massive displacement of the motor. Its a great N/A motor but needs to be forged to go beyond 650rwhp.
@Curveball How about you give fucking proof of your claim before talking out of your ass? I looked up your claim (even looked it up on some lambo forums) and did not find anything to it up. There are many Supras that make 800+rwhp safely on stock internals. Most people who blow them up making less power than that can't tune worth a shit and I've seen numerous cars both import and domestic pop below their normal tolerances.

Nah don't think so, i think if you had to single turbo the gtr which wouldn't be easy for a start the weak gearbox would break and the engine aint as strong as the supra.

@grandchancelor Theres plenty of evidence around of the potential of a big single turbo on a 2jz-gte. MK4 is an old car but it was engineer so incredibly that it still destroy the competition. The new supra, Lexus LF-A, is the new japanase super car. Its price may be high but when compared to other super sportscar because of its price. it destroys them in EVERYTHING, DRAG, CIRCUIT, TOP SPEED, Toyota engineering is the best in the world.
HEy i love the Supra's and the 2j's. Yes The ISF is great but not all that great and it isn't the old supra that you drive is it ? You're an idiot. The Lamborghini V-10 can handle 1870hp on stock internals. A Supra cannot handle handle as much stock.
A Supra motor was 320hp stock, the Lambo V-10 is 560hp stock.
So the Lambo motor is indeed better.

I like the Nissan GT-R but for the price of it like £50,000, your better off buy a stock twin turbo Toyota Supra and then modify it. I think twin turbo Supras are in the grasp of an average person, just work and save your money like £20 a week it'll soon build up.

I assure you, you will not find and MKIV Supra less than 30k. Adding a large turbo and other mods isn't cheap either...
The GTR isn't made for the straights. Niether the Supra but the GTR is most def better taking corners

@CJAEY my friend bought one for 13.5k. and here in Cali an average twin turbo supra goes for 20-25k. im not saying that there arentt supras that cost more than that because there are. it just depends on the upgrades and overall conditions of the car. but u can get a decent one for under 20k.

Yeah, people watch too much youtube of supra's that have like 50k or more invested and think the supra was always a fast car. The supra unmodified was a very average level sports car, average in straight line performance and terrible handling. Yeah, that can be turned into a straight line monster, but once a curve comes up, you better get slowed quick.

@Curveball Supras are excellent handlers. Remember the car was released in 1993. It has a skidpad of .98 stock and held the record of 70-0 braking until 2004. I wouldn't say that Supras are horrble handlers. They handle better than a lot of imports even ones out now.

BUT....When you put 800+hp to the wheel, guess what? It's handling is ruined. It is forever a straight line car, because just like the 'just' 640hp ZR1, you have to baby the throttle out of a corner. You need AWD with that kind of power to be able to still handle on a track in a production version car.

@Curveball Please. The Camaro SS couldn't hold a candle to a stock Supra in any form of performance until the LS1 camaros came out (98-02). Same goes for the the LT1 platform in general. You don't need AWD to put good power on the track. All of the fastest cars on the Nurburgring are RWD. The fastest AWD car around the ring is the R35 GTR and its like number 11 around it. It is not a straight line car forever.

@Curveball, You need to lookup the performance stats of the stock supra turbo before commenting! It was actually a very fast car when it came out. It did 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds which is as quick as a brand new stock WRX, it's quicker than a new MAzda 3 MPS, as quick as a new hplden ss V8, Ford Xr6 Turbo etc etc. Remember it came out 13 years ago. If you ask me it was a weapon when it came out. IT was even faster than the Honda NSX.

@Curveball, i wasn't commenting on your comparisson with the LT4. All i'm saying is that it's a bit silly saying the supra had average to poor performance as you said. It was infact a quick car, hence the reason it became one of the biggest tuned vehicles on the market. Sure there were quicker cars around but you can't call everything else garbage just because a few cars were a tiny bit quicker. Besides, the Supra was an imported vehicle so it was naturally going to be more expensive.

I did not say it was poor, I said it was average. Compare stock cars at every price range, and the Supra was right in there with the Camaro SS. Solid performance, but nothing compared to the stock performance cars of today.
The Supra was a popular build because it's motor could handle 600hp on the stock bottom end of the motor and still be reliable. So they were fairly cheap to push to that 600hp. (Fairly cheap still pushing 10k plus the price of the car)

@Curveball The LS7 is only good to about 650rwhp on the stock bottom end. This was stated by East Coast Supercharging in NJ who works primarily on Corvettes and the place where I bought the paxton for my vette. The reason for that limit is the thin cylinder walls due to the massive displacement of the motor. Its a great N/A motor but needs to be forged to go beyond 650rwhp.

There are many Supras that make 800+rwhp safely on stock internals. Most people who blow them up making less power than that can't tune worth a shit and I've seen numerous cars both import and domestic pop below their normal tolerances.

Unless you buy a low mileage bone stock all original Supra or a heavily and properly modded Supra they are not over 30K. I bought my single turbo one making over 7XX to the wheels for $27K

The GTR was designed to go around a track not drag racing, and for the people that say if only the supra guy would put a single turbo, if you take the samae amount of money that, that turbo kit would cost and put it in the GTR as well, the GTR would still win......

Nah don't think so, i think if you had to single turbo the gtr which wouldn't be easy for a start the weak gearbox would break and the engine aint as strong as the supra.
Not saying the Gtr isn't any good, i like them they just aren't as stong as the Supra. Plus for the money you spend on a GTR, Buy a supra and modify it and it won't be Gtr's that you are racing, you will be destroying everything.
buy a gtr if you cant drive a high powered rear wheel drive though.

i don't why people try to take the r35 gtr out of it's elements, it's not meant for drag racing, it's not meant for powertracks even though it does very good . it's meant to scare the living shit of you in corners. that why the suspension been mostly of nissan concern besides the air dynamics and engine tune. it can do all the prevous things i said but that not what it was meant and they clearly saids it. a supra with nothing but engine mod can't keep with the gtr cause of the torque RW..

@grandchancelor Theres plenty of evidence around of the potential of a big single turbo on a 2jz-gte. MK4 is an old car but it was engineer so incredibly that it still destroy the competition. The new supra, Lexus LF-A, is the new japanase super car. Its price may be high but when compared to other super sportscar because of its price. it destroys them in EVERYTHING, DRAG, CIRCUIT, TOP SPEED, Toyota engineering is the best in the world.

It has also been proven to be slower and sloppy compared with some of the BMW's not even classed as super cars so where are you going with that ?
