@somethingawful01 You don't get it do you? The villagers themselves were the farmers and factory workers since the reforms. It's just that because the economy had been doing well, they were expanding. Yet, the aging population meant that it won't be possible without hiring migrant workers from other parts of China. The steel-making company still employed 2000 locals but other industries employed migrants. This is an example of progress because many are benefiting from it.
Corporate losses stemming from copyright fuckn fraud in China have been estimated in the tens of billions The latest replica ? an electric Smart Car set enter the market soon, has stirred up legal controversy in Europe.
It is him for sure. Think about it. Right in our face. Controlled demolition right in our face on 911. Flouride(rat poison) right in our face with the warning label on crest/colgate toothpaste. LIke in this video US Congress/Senate calling Barack Obama right in our face in the Mainstream Media Osama Bin Laden. Millions of pictures/videos right in our face all over the internet of both.
I bet.. If China was still dirt poor country Vietnam or Cambodia. I don't think anyone will pay attention to them like they are today. There wouldn't be so many haters in this world.
it's called capitalism and industrialization. If u think back to the time of industrialization in England and America, working conditions were just as bad if not worse; in recent years, China has passed numerous labor laws protecting workers rights. If u look at the flip side, jobs were created for these workers and their standard of living has improved. It is the lavish and wasteful lifestyle of the west that is driving factories like these around the world.
stop focusing on semantics. This is China, where lunch costs you 50 cents US. Cheap labor is the standard in China. Slavery is artificially holding down market prices/forced labor. That's not what it is here.
Socialism capitalism is a mirage, they both have more similarites than differencies. I suppose if you lose your job in this imminent depression and was sleeping on the street you would appreciate your Laissez-faire Ideas of economic freedom within the USA.
Hey, they have created thousands of jobs. Yes they have amassed great wealth, but nevertheless, they have also created opportunities. It's capitalism alright, but look at China now and compare it with 30 years ago. Back then everybody were slaves, now at least some are better off and the rest are tagging along.
Instead of confining to the role of providing social goods and redistributing wealth by means of taxation, Huaxi township is a money making corporation (listed at stock exchange). Villagers are dividend yielding shareholders - a hybrid of capitalism and communism. Whos the role of government? Making money or taking money thats the great Chinese debate. Huaxi village won the first round.
This just proves what a city can do if everyone just works for the greater good. They did not need government regulations or the governments hand to help them. They helped themselves, now they are on top! Together they won. Its unfortunate that the US keeps our people divided.
no matter how much material one acquires, if one does not have the freedom to speak out and impact on gov't policies, then the material gain is nothing but a diversion from what really is a meaningful life
I believe the answer lies in another example from the Olympics. AlJazeera showed a poor family that had a new house to be off the streets during the Olympics. The Chinese government showed that house to AlJazeera, because it got points from showing success. The house was filled with techno trash and plastic children toys, but the walls and hallways were carpetless and blank. The family was just visiting there.
Just think if American worker were not sold down the river, none of this would have been possible for those poor chinese...?!

Of course, capitalism = slavery. If you don't want to work for a rich boss, be a communist.

Be honest, you hate those innocent workers who are making a decent wage.
