Let me get this straight. People are pissed off because Victoria Hopkins won't play the game. She probably thought she would enjoy herself and realized that she was not suited to pretend to be a woman of the Regency Era. She was being honest about it. And you can't stand it, because you want her to pretend that what she was doing was fun and enjoyable, due to your romantic illusions about that period.
I'm in high school and would NEVER speak to either of my parents like thator friends or anyone I deemed necessitates respect (everybody)...soooo rude.
I despise old people who think they can be crabby to young people and still be deserving of respect. I'll respect you until you give me reason not to, regardless of your age. Victoria needed a smacking, but only because she was mouthy, not because she was young. She would have needed a smacking even if she was 90.
Nobody likes to be told to go fuck off, but honestly, the way Rogers goes on about it, I can't find much sympathy for her either. She seems like the sort of person who gets all her social currency from taking offense at things and telling people how angry others have made her and how unforgivably she's been treated. She's more than a little manipulative, too. Hopkins wasn't the first to offend her and she certainly won't be the last.
iF THEY ALL BEHAVED WITH DIGNITY because it is the right thing to do, the considerate and beautiful thing to do, instead of trying to "learn history" or "get somebody", it would have been perfectly natural. Goodness has it's own personal reward.
God, Victoria is so rude, even by today's standard! How can she talk to an older woman like that? I liked her at first but now? Ugh. I'm rooting for the lady's companion or the two middle class girls
Yeah you can't tell someone to 'fuck off' & expect them to be happy about it - Mrs Rogers is obviously playing a character - her 'regency alter ego' & Victoria is mixing that up with real life, when Mrs Rogers asked her if she thought her 'Parents and Grandparents would be proud' I think she was referring to her 'regency' parents i.e the fictonal ones who have paid Lady Devonport to introduce her into polite society & help her find a husband - not her real parents, who probably aren't that bothe
@druniver Yeah - they've given the participants a positition in the house 2 match their positition in the real world, 1 of thems a real countess - it shows more how strict the class system was back then compared 2 2day were a science teacher & a lady from the aristocracy like Mr Foxsmith & LadyDevonport can c & treat each other as complete equals . . . . . . ;)
Miss Hopkins was very rude and acting like a spoiled brat!!! I wanted to climb in there and smack her. Acting like that is not acceptable under any conditions. No class whatsoever.
She's just rude and ignorant, coming from the 21st century doesn't have anything to do with it. If she knew she couldn't cut it back in the Regency period, without special concessions, why even bother? Just stay home...
As badly as Miss Hopkins is behaving, the hostess is not helping at all. I would rather see her lead by example rather than just butting heads.

Miss Hopkins was rude, but the hostess is overreacting.

I don't think people like Victoria realize they're playing characters.

Miss Hopkins should have done her homework before signing up to live in the Regency.

@MissAshleyJClark The girl is just addicted to cigarettes, give her one and she'd stop ragging.

@MissAshleyJClark If you google 'regencyparticipantbios', you find a description of the participants in real life:
So, mrs Hopkins appears to be a true 'nouveau riche'
