  • 2 deslikes??? oooh may they buuuurn!!!

  • Such a great album. Artists these days don't know how to be original like back in day. Now, everyone is playing the same shitty beats and lyrics with no substance what so ever.

  • 90's baby

  • 2 DISLIKES? They're getting the silent treatment from someone

  • Yup...been on repeat all day....

  • Too cool.

  • Thumbs up if yu qive yur man thu "silent treatment''! :p

  • this song stays in the mp3 player rotation.

  • @bigben1986 i honestly dont understand why people think "us kids" now a days dont listen to this. i just turned 16 and im listening to old and awesome rap that gives off good vibes like this. i might not know whats up but be glad some of us appreciate music like this, im more conscious than most teenager about this hip hop. just keep in mind that not all teens listen to that "new era" rap, peace...

  • Brings back memories of my college freshman days....Ahhhhhhh.....Goodtimes!

  • Got the CD in my car right now.

  • Their best LP.

  • hip hop in its truest form,, only the roots baby!

  • the roots are so fucking awesome. god bless them. i feel bad for todays generation. they can't sit down and here this. sad. anybody who grew up in the era of when hip hop started, grafitti, mcing etc is the last generation to be original. if u between the ages of 34-50 something. that 70's-80's early 90's maybe 93 max. thats the last generation to have flava.

  • @bigben1986 Ben - Hit it on the head. Good observation, meng. This is when I started to develop a true appreciation for hip-hop. I'd say '94 anticipating "Illmatic"'s drop was the defining point. "Illmatic" still remains #1 on my personal chart. While I don't think I fall inside your personal categorization, I think most heads would agree the lyrical value and production of that album is/was incredible.

    It's 11:11 - make a wish!

  • @bigben1986 jeeze you guys are gunna be those parents from that newer south park episode. "music in our generation was so much better. kids listen to shitty music now days." ok well people used to listen to trombones in 1850, of course music is gunna change and of course your gunna like your generations music the most. or you could be like those who dont care and listen to all music that appeals to their ears.

  • @ohterlay dude it ain't music no more... its programmed drum kits and loud ass synths. And the lyrics are horrendous.

  • @akn0ledge theres plenty of new music being made that is still really great music...

  • 1 person gets the silent treatment all of time

  • damn i felt like this today! Women!

  • Good trees music

  • everybody should relate to this!!!

  • So feelin this right now #TheRoots #CLASSIC

  • hip hop didnt die its just alive in hidden places

  • 1 disslike?!?! WHO'S THAT DICK?!

  • @Stapurda lol, some fool who keeps getting the silent treatment!!!

  • @Stapurda agreed!

  • @Stapurda they prob only heard the first 5 seconds of the song -___-

  • @3452g5 that still doesn't justify the claim

  • @jaydubmusicman im supporting you cuh .

  • @Stapurda TWO NOW?! MOTHERF*CKERS BUMPIN' DICKS N SHITTT

  • The smooth operator is in........

  • Not just an amazing hiphop act but an amazing band! Nothing like real music! Philly baby!!!

  • @telak2 SO TRUE!

  • nice! very nice...

  • how come it's sounds so much better here than on my itunes - more reverb, warmer sound - snare lasts for ages on tis - much better - why? pissing me off - everything playing through itunes is shit, especially intricate stuff like opera/jazz - sounds terrible - someone help me please lol - peace all!

  • @rugbyboy198127 you gotta go see it live thats why lol. best music is always played live

  • @musiqhotshot yeah trouble is kind of hard to get the roots live band to play in my living room while i relax and smoke a phat blunt! besides i don't like going outside lol i live in the uk - going out = fighting at some point - i'd rather save my anger for the rugby field lol - ta for the advice tho lol

  • @musiqhotshot also mc-ing's never best live - mics are just not clear enough for all the subtlety and dexterity of say raga mc-ing for example - just a wash of sound - that's an example of occasion where live isn't as good - on the whole i agree though mate, cheers

  • If more people knew about this kind of (real) Hip Hop...they wouldn't trash talk it all of the time and blame it on everything.

This is even more important and soulful than almost every other genre and artist.

If young teens grew up on this more..they would have a better attitude towards others.

Even when I dont listen to The Roots for a while, i still have to consider them one of my favorites..but theres so many others that atleast help keep this music alive.

  • That bass line gimme a boner everytime.

  • fav act. fav mc. smooooooooooooth.

  • Great Music!

  • Absolutely love this song. It just hits me in a way I can't describe. The powerful drums, soft horn, slightly distorted chorus and Thought's smooth lyrics. Amazing track.

  • @hoopster16 thanks all i can imagine is iced tea that tastes like butter.

but butter that tasted like iced tea would be hella dope

  • I still have the cassette tape of this single!! (just dated myself) .. love this..classic doesnt describe this joint..very under rated group..thx for posting..

  • the fact that music like this is not really known in the countries of the modern world shows once again how crazy this planet is :(

  • such an under-appreciated group :( they are playing as a house band for one of those late-night shows I hear.

  • @brownalbundy26 Yeah, for Jimmy Fallon...it sucks because Fail-on isn't funny. But The Roots are still awesome.
