I'm auditioning for seussical with my community theater group, unfortunatly the only part im old enough to audtition for is young kangaroo. Too old for cindy Loo Who Too Young For Gertrude. But this is my audtion song! We Have to use a stanza from a Dr.Seuss book as a monologue I'm not sure weather thats good or bad I've never used anything other than monologues as monologues!

gertrude had a good voice but i absolutely HATE how she and a lot of other people say Hortin with an "I" instead of an "o" It is actually spelled HortOn. Also when she went into her head voice on the high notes, her voice cracked a lot. A little work on her transition from chest voice to head voice she should be ok. But good job over all!!!

she goes flat a few times and crack but great job? I understood some of the words she sang. And sometimes she fell behind the music. She movements made me laugh, and the costumes were great in discribing the characters

Hey, she was doing a live show. Who knows what she did during the other 7 performances. She had to sing, dance and act at the same time (a triple threat?).

She didn't "fall behind the music", the "music fell behind her". That is what "colla voce" means (WITH THE SINGER, not the other way around).

I understood all of the words. Keep doing what you are doing, Gertrude, and we will be watching you do them on Broadway!

nice gertrude. the costumes are nicely simplistic. if i can get ahold of it...i'll post our show...youngstown state university, spring of 2006. it made so much money in ticket sales we had to sell out another weekend in addition to the 3 we were already running.
