I also went up and down the road several times (slowly) before the run looking for anything that might impact the run (rocks, road imperfections, etc) to further mitigate any potential incidents.
So in the end, jay walking is probally more dangerous than this run. :)
Technically if my brakes failed I could have continued on but I would have gone into a residential area which I wouldn't have prefered! Previous to this run (a few months ago), I replaced all the OEM brakepads with Red Stuff breakpads, new rotors and racing brake fluid so I was pretty confident my brakes would hold. I also checked my tires (which are new) and tire preasure before the run.
So it was a bit risky, but I minimized all the risk I could and it ended well.
Yeah it was crazy at the end if you hear my horn going off a few times? I was braking so hard (I have Redstuff brake pads all around) that I was pressing on the horn and I didn't even realize it. (My flip camera was perched on the steering wheel with my right hand and I guess I was freaking out a bit about not being able to stop in time.)
I love my E55! It's an 8 year old car now can you believe it? :) Best car I've ever owned! :)
@alextaylor29 Absolutely man, pound for pound one of the most intoxicating cars you can drive! I hope I can keep mine, don't know what I'm gonna do if I ever have to give it up.
Holy friggin' insane! :-) Odd watching the 160 MPH speedo for me (on my '06 it's 200)... Fun stuff Alex. What mods? I truly think the fastest I've ever gone in mine is almost 130 (after finishing a 1/4). But 0-160-0 in a mile is amazing!!!
thanks for that!
