There is a band I loved as a kid (still do a bit) called One Minute Silence. They had a song called "Stuck Between a Rock and a White Face" They totally robbed the start of this song for it.
Why you compare Patton with Keadis? They are different. In 1980's many bands used freaky style.Just not all from them we can remember.Faith No More used this funk style before Patton. Please watch video "We Care a Lot" or "Anne's Song",you can notice that Mosley's style looks like Keades's style too.Mr.Bungle's music from 1980's remind me RHCP.
The Real Thing by FNM, Appetite for Destruction by G N'R, and ...And Justice for All by Metallica: my top three favorite albums of all time. I love this album so much.
I think FNM was great band(greatest in last 80's - early 90's) ,but I listen only album "The Real Thing" and watch rares from 1989-1991 years.Since album "Angel Dust" this band started to die for me.
I am a diehard chili pepper, and i don't see why fnm fans have to say that fnm is better than rhcp, that rhcp sucks, that fnm is far ahead from the chilis, all that bullshit. i mean, music is not bout being better than anyone, is about doing what you feel, and transmit those feeling through your music.. i know that all the peppers have ever done was this, and, although im kinda getting started on faith no more, i can see they are pretty honest with their music too
We care a lot is pre-Patton. There already were some genius individuals at the band. All Patton did was putting the band in a different league, light years ahead of many other bands. FNM!
I remeber being at an ALMIGHTY gig and they played this record before the bands came out!! I thought WTF is this shit!!! Got lucky and got to see them on this tour in a cool venue .... Best GIG i've ever had the pleasure of attending including my mate crowd serfing in the opening song "out of nowwhere" and honestly I've seen some great bands in my time!!!
Why they dont play this fucking awsome piece in every damn concert is something I just don't know. I'm praying they'll play it in the concert Im going, 'cause it's my favorite FNM song.
@yovioleatuzorramadre stop comparing bands, that's unfair to both their fans and the band itself, each one has its own style, you like it, good, you don't, then stay away from the bloody comment box!
@HurriCanE17X .Spot on. The 90's was one of the best times for metal and rock. There was movies like waynes world, bill and ted etc... And then so many new genres had fired up like Black metal, and bands like faith no more became bigger...as well as all the rock /metal shows that were on TV, One thing I miss from the 90's is record shops. You just don't get that many now.
The 90's was such a great time for metal. It's when metal had long hair unlike some of the Emo cuts you get now in metal. Loads of new genres like black metal, industrial metal were invented and became more popular, and then all the rock and metal based movies like Bill and ted, Waynes world, Airheads. There was some great rock shows too like Headbangers ball, Noisymothers, and sometimes even on late night shows like 'The Word'.
Kids now just wanna be Emo's or rappers....I miss the 90's
@oshoshIII i know, but you should also know that this song was written and released in 1990, trying to imitate the funk-sounds of rhcp, they had already released a couple albums in 1990 such as "Red Hot Chili Peppers" and "Freaky Stiley". Check it next time! :)
@yovioleatuzorramadre i really don't think that, songs like suck my kiss, give it away..., around the world are really oriented to this kind of sound, but what matters, faith no more is fucking better
@yovioleatuzorramadre mother's milk has nothing to do with this sound, the very first funky sound we have is in "freaky styley" and also in "real men don't kill the coyotes". get informed.
@yovioleatuzorramadre did you see this video carefully? If you'd know something about music theory, you would certainly notice how this is only imitation, even the video itself. I do like fnm, but this sounds like a bad echo of the 1987's rhcp to me.
@ellensumm Patton acts like a crazy idiot with long hair since his high school years, there is even a video of a 1985 performance with bungle.
And I dont give a fuck about that either, I just care about the art, the music himself, ZERO to do with the red hot chili peppers and with kiedis faggot. rhcp early works was just funky party music, some rock riffs out there, a lot of punk, yes a fusion. But fnm release a record called "We Care a Lot" in 1985, and it was WAY ahead than any rhcp record.
@yovioleatuzorramadre You can only expose your opinion on A record being better than another one, let alone, every record of another band. Fact is, what you said makes you look more like an asshole rather than a music fan.
Btw, this is coming from a person that likes faith no more a lot.
@yovioleatuzorramadre in my opinion, oth are amazing bands, both have changed their style to be more commercials, AND YOPU RE RIGHT, PATTON IS BETTER THAN ANTHONY, BUT I CANT SAY THE SAME ABOUT THE REST OF THE BAND, is my opinion, sorry for my english
@yovioleatuzorramadre I dont give a fuck about what you say mate, Chilis were crazy, Bungle and Faith were crazy. The Chilis seemed to broadcast their craziness before Patton ever did, if you do your research PAL. EQUALLY amazing bands. They are both my favorites ever... no matter what Kiedis did, Patton did OBVIOUSLY take some character off him. Kiedis reacted badly, but he was a young drug fucked lad. I'm sure they both regret it. Enough of this 'Faggot' buisness. The only faggot is you. CUNT.
@yovioleatuzorramadre its unnecessary to even compare two bands. faith no more were far more unconventional and rhcp sounds just the same since californication and they pretty much sold out.
I listen to music which some could name "sophisticated" (like jazz and classical) and I can tell ya' that both bands are really good from the technical side. RHCP for it's punk-funk-Hendrix mix and FNM for the jazz-core-trash-hiphop-polka-whatever. You have to remember that this folks were playing their own thing in the times when Twisted Sisters were reaching #1 chart position!
We gotta give 'em respect wheter we like 'em or not.
This video is a little bit insane. Mike Patton is like a cross between Anthony Kiedis and Jim Carrey. Love the bass for this song. The whole thing is essentially a fuck you to the bad examples of 80s hair/glam metal. Fuck your women and your cocaine and your... hair!!! x
Bad video, great song. Not filler. Consider the shit storm of glam that was prevalent then this came out. Chilly Peppers where still on training wheels. To ahead of their time.
@kevintimmers666 im a long time Gn'R fan, and ive recently gotten into FNM. they're both two of my top three vocalists (also shannon hoon).. they're both versatile and insanely talented in their own different ways, both top artist. axl is the best at what he does, and patton is the best at what he does :D
@PunkAsPhuck96 Maybe somewhere in between (no pun intended)? Talented and very versatile, (perhaps a little cocky), but not as commercially successful as his talent would warrant.
Great band and i`m a metalhead!! I love that Gould has a Sepultura t-shirt and I saw videos where he has a slayer, napalm death or morbid angel's t-shirt.... definitely a fan of extreme music........................ damn i need to practice english again!
@glglous Prob cos it was may have been a bad based on a bad episode in his life, aka am fallin to peaces. BTW, the lyrics amaze me more today than when i first heard this in 1990. Maybe I was more concentratin on the instruments. But now as a lyracist, they have made me take note. I'll see if I can find the answere to your question :)
@glglous I'm not surprised if Patton doesn't like this song. It's a weak song, if we take off our fanboy hats for a second. An album filler really. They've added reverb and backing vocals to the chorus for this single edit, to try to beef it up a bit. Plus, if you wrote a lyric with "but I know the equilibrium's there" when you were a bit young, you'd be embarrassed later on.
(Patton and FNM fan, but not an unquestioning one.)

I've read somewhere that Mike Patton don't like this song, do you know somebody why?
glglous 1 year ago
