  • I agree with @partywutmitpartyhut. @hollleee, I saw them in 2001 at a smaller show with a couple hundred people. How does it taste?

  • god damn that hair net is sick!

  • Man, Jeremiah seems to reallly like this song.

Jeremiah is their drummer, somebody else who is in the band.

Shut up about Isaac Brock, you can talk shit on the whole band if you want to.

  • @hollleee i saw modest mouse right after they came out with good news and they were amazing. Brock looks like a football player in this vid.

  • He should rock the hair-net more often!

  • The Vocalist look thin at that moment

  • *Insert ubiquitous comment here about how you liked Modest Mouse in the 90's and not so much now.*

  • omg the turn of the century was the downturn of MM, they look so good, sound so good here. come back!!

  • I don't think Isaac could fit into that shirt today.

  • Is Issac wearing a hair net?

  • @joshtrevellin Yes, he was @ that show... up until he got into a fight with a guy in the audience. The hair net didn't make it on after that.

  • take its as you will

  • please do not argue over music such as this..this is only meant to be enjoyed

  • Everyone here is wrong... He's saying "shake the iced ham." Now stop arguing. Please.

  • this made me laugh. maybe cause i'm just high.

  • *Isaac's

  • When I get to the promised land I'm going to shake that eyes hand...

  • WRONG

  • @Discokid715

nah dude its the Eye's hand

cause if you understood "the third planet is sure that they're being watched by an eye in the sky that cant be stopped"

ice hand makes no since....grant it that not much of modest mouse lyrics do

  • @PartyWagon2PointO

oh wait shit my bad you were saying that ice hand was wrong so sorry about that dude i read over it all too quick...again im sorry

  • No shit dude!!!! I didnt say Ice hand. I have every album and they have Issac's lyrics in them. LOL You must have mistaken me for cbass5511. All I said was WRONG.

  • @Discokid715

yea i did sorry about that, i dont think my appology comment loaded

  • @PartyWagon2PointO its all good dude. have a good one. =)

  • Oh yea and Issac's lyrics make complete sense to me.

  • shit my bad

  • is he wearing a hair net? if so, coolest hair net ever

  • lol this was 3 band members ago. actually 4. but dude isaac was thin

  • all the original band members r still in the band

  • yes. very few bands these days that i like.

  • Search for it my friend. In general you are right. If you ever get the chance definitely go watch this amazing band, worth every penny.

  • Fucking modest mouse rocks. Every song kicks ass!

  • absolutely beautiful song.

  • Where was this filmed? I feel like I've been there before...

  • think its the ridglea in ft worth tx

  • hairnet?

  • yep

  • uh... i have headphones on...

    this vid is mono =/

  • is it really mono or is the sound only in 1 ear?

  • Mono... Left ear only

    no biggy lol

  • LEFT EAR?!?!?!?

    my left speaker is busted..

all i hear is abunch of bass in my right.

    FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!

  • lol

  • its really mono, only out one speaker on my speakers

  • amazing; perfect.

isaac looks so good here. this is the kind of show i always want to go to, but instead i get an overweight, sloppy drunk isaac who doesn't try or give a fuck about what he's singing, while i'm surrounded by teenagers who only know the "hits." 'course, i still like what they're doing, but still... nobody's going to see modest mouse like this ever again and it's sad - just seems like isaac's given up. thumb me down, but watch this and go to a show and then disagree with me.

  • you're probably not wrong, but i hope u r cos its sad if its true. the music is still amazing.

  • Dude, Isaac is a better performer than ever. I'll PM you download links to a bootleg of their newer shows sometime. He is overweight though. Look up a video of this from 09. Oh, and when I saw MM in 08, everyone around me sang along to Teeth, Trucker's Atlas, and Dramamine.

  • @hollleee Agreed. I was lucky enough to have attended this very show, and it blew everything I had seen prior straight out of the fucking water. Now, he's a ghost of what he was. :(

  • @hollleee Hey, we're all getting fat. Can't stay away from the fountain Cokes.

  • @hollleee thats saddd. i wanted to go to one until i read that lol

  • @bombspiceblendscom dont listen to her, go see him, yeah he put on some weight, but he didn't give up. He matured, not as green as he once was, their music tastes great with ageing.

  • @hollleee Are you fucking kidding me? Watch their performance in NYC back in March '09 (most of the show is up on here) and tell me they're washed up and emotionless. Yeah, they've got more members and they're constantly changing their sound. It's popular to romanticize about the past being so much better, but bottom line is they're still one of the best bands out there. Oh and Isaac was sloppy drunk plenty back in the 90s; I guess 'cause that was in the past it's charming.

  • @hollleee this is what happens when a band blows up man it sucks but MM kicks ass forever especially their older stuff

  • @hollleee Honestly, bands change and if Isaac wants to try different things in his music thats his decision and he doesn't give a shit what you think. They play the new music at concerts today because they worked their asses off writing new music and probably would like to play it and all you guys do is bitch that they don't play the old stuff. It's all good, deal with it. And your bitching about people liking the hits and this video is of the biggest hit on Moon and Antarctica.

  • @hollleee i kind of agree but isaac is hysterical when hes drunk. also hes kind off getting better about alcohol just like how he stopped doing drugs.

  • @hollleee I've seen them 3 times in the last couple of years, and each show has been amazing. It was annoying between surrounded by 14 year olds that only wanted to hear "Float On", but I got over that. In Atlanta, 3 years ago, we got a 45 minute encore that was mind blowingly good, including an impromptu mashup of Spitting Venom and Trailer Trash. They even played a good bit of their older stuff.

  • @hollleee isaac is still brilliant and i don't blame him for who he is. he isn't out to impress people he's playing for himself not you so it doesn't matter to him what you think

  • @Ambrosious128d

No, he's not playing for himself. If you pay to go and see him then yes, he's playing for you. That's the nature of a music concert.

  • @hollleee probably cause he submitted and knows what it's all about....that would make any artist bummed out

  • @hollleee It's the same goddamn discussion on every MM song on youtube. You are not a "better" fan, just because you claim to know all the songs, you're still are just "a" fan. Think about it, these kids are Modest Mouse fans after all. I'd rather have people knowing "only the hits" of Modest Mouse, then knowing the Nickelback discography by heart.

  • well i just recently became a MM fan and i gotta say this is one of my favorites although ive still got alot of catchin up to do.

  • and instead get with the band you say you love so much and have your OWN opinion. stop worrying about how long you listened to them for, or how "dedicated" you really are, its insulting to all fans. and if you know isaac's logic, how bad do you think he'd make fun of you for bitching about something that makes no sense.... and to all you "older" MM fans, please type into the search box "isaac brock calls out a fan" and see how he would put you in your place! =) thanks retards.

  • "isaac brock calling out a fan" excuse me.

  • totally agree with you dude.

i hate people who winge about bands "changing too much"

if bands don't evolve, then they get bashed for that too!

no matter what modest mouse do, they will always make someone unhappy, and i highly, highly doubt they care.

learn to enjoy the music for what it is, instead of bitching about what it is not.

  • thank god someone actually has a good opinion..every modest mouse video i watch people complain about their different sound.

  • i prefer there older stuff. i remember reading some guys saying you should love all mouse. and i thought that was bullshit seeing how i only listen to things i like. i love the beatles but i don like all there shit just cuz they r the motherfuckin beatles in regards to new fansthat is how it is with every band i have been to over 100 shows of various genres and all bands get more popular and bandwagoners ruin the old ways. and that is so. but coozie u r talkin out ur ass about knowing his logic

  • holy shit man, the pipe up your ass must have a pipe up its ass. calm the fuck down bandy

  • coozie is right tho man

  • lol, ive been a fan ever since i was them in a cafe in 1994, and i swear to god only the youtube dwellers talk shit about their newer albums. i love all their albums, from this is a long drive (1996) to we were dead, and im really looking foward to their new EP. if your gonna piss and moan about how they changed, they're 10 years deep, theyre obv. not gonna sound the same cause that would be boring. stop being a pussy follower of the true "modest mouse" fans who bitch about the band they love

  • Awesome video.

  • ..is he wearing a hairnet?

  • May I add that seizures are abound whenever there is any "Good News For Anyone Who Loves Bad News."

For one thing, who really gives a shit one way or the other, if someone likes 3rd planet or Float on, or both. If the band is "owned by the record label" or not, who really gives a shit? Who the fuck is keeping score? Who cares if they are "sellouts?" In fact srsly, who actually gives a fuck if they are sell outs. So what? Now that u know nobody cares, go sk8board & bother some1 else, critics.

  • lol i love the debate phenomenon known as the "entrance to becoming a modest mouse fan"

  • To be a modest mouse fan, one must denounce all creatures who mention the words "We Were Dead Before The Ship Sank." Also said mm fan must start throwing fits and crying whenever they see a ship, as it references "new modest mouse" material, which by some fuckhead interpretation means that somebody from the record label made the songs, though anyone with an IQ over 90 knows that record producers can do no better than excrete a sack of shit known as "The Jonas Brothers."

  • you guys all mention him being skinny. WHO GIVES A FUCK

  • MODEST MOUSE RULES!!!!!!!!!

  • when was this filmed in 2000?Hes lost alot of weight recently.

  • i literally just discovered these guys and this song is so epic. one of my faves ever

  • listen to their 7"s & the long drive lp

  • Lawl.

  • not at ALL

  • yes one of their best

  • I'm back... Bitches.

  • my favorite modest mouse song

  • that is correct

  • Modest mouse is DOPE

  • yea isaacs cut back on the drugs cause of his daughter. i mean other than weed every other drug gets you skinny as hell.

  • Daughter? Did not know that he had one...

  • daughter what? fill me in

  • He doesn't. Someone many comments before mentioned something about a daughter.

  • who cares about hi weight seriously?

Dose your weight have anything to do with musical talent?

Witch he has no matter what his appearnce is.

  • WTF. is he wearing a hairnet?

  • I think it is a hairnet, Izaac is nuts!! LOL

  • wow, I didn't see that at first. he is one crazy guy, I wouldn't put it past him to just randomly wear a hairnet. his eyes seem less angry than his post weight-gain years

  • he doesnt want to get hair in the tasty jams their serving up

  • hahahahaha epic

  • So true

  • I wish I wish awesome like them.

  • this song is so fucking amazing omg i dont even know what life would be like without modest mouse.

    :DDDDDD

  • hey look! a skinny isaac

  • skinny or chubby he's still a great musician

  • yeah before the drugs and whatnot

  • I highly doubt that. If anything hes cut back.

  • you mean after the drugs?

  • he's better chubby, seriously

  • i will try to argue that this is the best mouse tune... then again i've yet to here them all any others i should def try to put up against this? i have the pastel colores pink and blue antarctica or sumthin like it but i love them both and wanna here them all

  • oh fuck off, u either like them or you don't, and if u do stop pissing modest mouse fans off.

  • FUCKING GREAT!!!

  • Issaquah, Washington!! Every Modest Mouse fan should know not to waste energy on elitists who dislike the new stuff. Let em hold on to the past and laugh while they miss everything in front of them. Every album has been good and true fans know it.

  • Thank you. alot

  • Do you really think they anybody in this band gives a crap what any of you think? Old Modest Mouse fans or New, who cares. Can't we just agree that they are a really good band with a lot of good songs and end it at that. Good lord, what a bunch of whinny hipsters you all are!!!!

  • I'm not saying that every Modest Mouse fan has to like their new stuff to be true fans, but bashing their new music by comparing it to their old just seems ungrateful. I think we should be thankful that Modest Mouse hasn't broken up like most every other great band from the 90's, or be glad that Isaac hasn't OD'd on anything like a lot of other singers.

  • ungrateful? am I ungrateful for not particularly liking what a once interesting artist is doing these days?

  • I guess we'll have to see what what the new members have to offer. I mean look at Wu-Tang Clan, every member had something different to offer.

Sure they put out a couple of duds, but that doesn't mean they can't digress to their roots and make some badass shit.

Isaac Brock will always my favorite lyricist. And even though he hasn't been able to maintain stable band members, they always seem to make nice sounds behind Brock's wonderful lyrics.

  • great point.

  • every album after this one sucked ass

  • I completely agree.

  • it's too bad. I just have a hard time believing that the band that put out interstate 8 in the early 90's is the same one that made dashboard.

  • Oh for christ's sake I'm so fucking sick of these fans, most of them newbie fans at that, acting like fucking elitists. True Modest Mouse fans appreciate everything they have to offer and are grateful that they're still making music and getting the fame they deserve. And just for the record Interstate 8 was released in the late 90's, and a lot of fans consider Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks, which was released a year after this album, to be a part of Modest Mouse's "old school" days.

  • interstate 8 was one of the first records. it was rereleased I guess in the late 90s. everywhere... was an ep and I say that it was just to go along with the release of the moon and antarctica. same aesthetic and everything. I really don't want to argue with you over what modest mouse is "better", so I'm not going to. All I was saying was that modest mouse used to make great music. now, not so much.

  • oh i meant to give you a thumbs up. yeah, Modest Mouse are not making as good music as they used to, definitely agree. what's with all these people saying "youre not a true fan!", being a 'fan' just means you like the music they're making, what kind of chump would just blindly follow an artist because they officially became a "fan". it's weird, i don't get it.

  • i love you isaac!

  • Love this =]

.. But what is that on Isaac's head?!

  • Fishing net...lol

  • How does Arctic monkeys have 6mil hits and this song only 200k??? Modest mouse is perhaps the greatest band of our generation.... Its no contest. I have seen modest mouse 10+ and every time is unique... it helps to live in seattle but still they are the greatest band no matter where you live. (i like AM as well for the haters)

  • The same could be said about Protest the Hero and Metallica... Metallica = 19 mil for Nothing Else Matters and Protest = 1.2 mil. Many would argue that Protest is a better band producing better songs. HOWEVER, you can't have just feel and no good riffs, or vice versa. The Arctic Monkeys seem to have catchy riffs and lines. Whereas what I've heard of Modest Mouse has mostly been just highly feeling based. Rockability caught on for a reason.

  • Well, metallica put a stop to napster. Napster only helped bands get heard, like no other. Now limewire does the same thing and no reprocusions. Fuck metallica :)

  • Did you even read what I said?

  • Their older stuff sounds so much more emotional. I miss the old Modest Mouse :[

  • Just to clarify, I meant all the stuff that came out before 'Good News For People Who Love Bad News'.

  • Cry more

  • Agreed, but I can't complain that EVERY album so far has had a "flavor".

  • I dunno aye, I think their new stuff is still as emotional as ever, it's just a lot more poppy. If you get what I mean. Their old stuff I've always found quite skewed (which is good, because it's just another form of emotion really,) but their new stuff is more structured. Like structured emotions. It's still MM, just more coherent for pop lovers.

  • i modest mouse rollano!

  • What's with the awkward hand gestures?

  • Whoa! until now I've never noticed how hot isaac brock was..

  • all of their albums are great, but lately i can't get enough of the lonesome crowded west.

that being said, this song is probably the best opening track

  • this song is on the moon & antarctica not the lonesome crowded weset

  • thanks, but i knew that. what i meant was lonesome crowded west is my favorite album, but this is the best opening track of all the albums.didnt mean to be confusing

  • gotcha..its all good

  • nice hair net

  • saw modest this summer w/ REM, modest was the best performance I have ever seen, second only to RHCP. They were better than the strokes, coldplay, the mars volta, dropkick murpheys, countless others

  • mista? do they still tour with REM, im looking to go to a concert within a year and them and REM happen to be my favorite bands.

  • i went to that concert to, modest mouse is insane on stage. food

  • yeah I saw them too (at jones beach if anyone else went to that crazy show), MM was incredible, and while REM definitely impressed, I was kinda disappointed that Modest Mouse wasn't the headliner

  • isaac brock isn't religious

  • It's in the song, he's not saying Isaac is religious.

  • dude the sinder was super thin in odler song like sad sappy sucker nad lonesome crowd west and a long drive for nothing to think aobut. this was becasue he did lots of drugs now he is clean and gained his weight back.

  • I'm glad he's off 'em. He still looks great to me. =)

  • mooom more cheesy poofs

  • indie rock shows look so awkward.

  • Awesome, Awesome

  • I believe you ment to say. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!

  • Issac gained a lot of weight in recent years hah

  • yes he has lol

  • he has also lost a lot of weight too

  • success = money = food = weight gain, ha ha

  • haha, word! that'd would be my first priority XD

  • i love this song this band everything about them

  • isaac rockin the hairnet. lol

  • MM is fucking amazing

  • no kidding haha

  • I love this song so much. :)

  • Is this your vid or flyrockets vid??

  • So um... fuck me for missing the whole Moon/Antarctica tour days. That's by far their best shit, the whole album is great. Some of their other albums are just so-so with a few great tracks.

  • LMAO! i like modest mouse but thats still funny ass hell.

  • If you are serious then you dont know anything about Modest Mouse, but right when I read your comment I started laughing hella.

  • In my opinion, The Moon and Antarctica is by far MM's best album. It has the most continuity, meaning and innovation of any of them. I also like the older and newer stuff, though. MM has one of the most distinct sounds in music today, and I really enjoy it.

  • i think we were dead is better than good news, but its a long drive trumps all

  • does anyone know if I can and where if so I can get the whole performance . . . they have Teeth Like God's Shoeshine from this show on Youtube but there isn't anything else

  • there is a video of isaac fightin at this show its near where i live haha RIDGLEA

  • well I meant music . . . I couldn't care less about him fighting if he's not playing a song heehee

  • Is this the Church Rant show?

  • right dude,Hunter61192, every MM fans beats up their newer albums. i mean, yea i like the older MM, but i dig all their new albums, its different and its really really good
