@Detsurasu I agree, I always loved the more old style hamlety FF settings. THAT's a world of Fantasy. While the modern settings are nice, they aren't as big with me. Hence the reason I hold FF9, 4 and Tactics above the ever popular 7. Funnily enough, FF7 taught me how to adapt to the modern settings, and is now the very reason I can actually enjoy FF13. Weird... XD

Hironobu Sakaguchi said that's exactly THE real Final Fantasy. He always thought that medivel european setting suits this title the best. And I agreed with him! Of course, futuristic setting is all nice, but it's kinda wrong if you know what I mean. Imo, FF should be like FFIX, it represents the real fantasy setting like NES/SNES FFs.

BTW, Uematsu said that the soundtracks he scored for this game were his favourite work!

Such a haunting melody, one of my favorites.

I've always wanted an FFVII remake, to be sure... but maybe we're getting spoiled. Not only do I now believe Square would fail at any attempt to remake the games the way we actually want them to (face-lift, not a re-do) by trying to make everything "new & exciting," I keep thinking maybe the reason we love these games so much has everything to do with the FEEL, which includes the graphics... I'm just glad they can never take these away from us.

the only FF that needs a remake is 7, and i'm not even a FF7 fanboy. It was the only one on PS1 with badly made graphics, and its old enough that this generation has probably never played it. 10 is a Ps2 game for christ sakes!

@Kirbyluver2 PS2 is a quick cash. They've redone a bunch of games seems porting the engine to the PS3 is quite easy like GoW & MGS. The whole PS1 gen needs to be remade in HD. Though game I was looking forward the most was FF6 to the DS. Square was actually working on it like the FF4 remake in 3D and Voice acting. Nintendo told them to stop making the game and make it for the 3DS but I haven't seen any news about it. Hopefully E3 will bring some light about this.

This song chills me. I remember when I was younger and got there for the first time, after dying 30+ times to Gizamaluke and almost giving up hope of seeing the rest of the game. I was amazed. I also remember when I didn't have a memory card yet but I kept playing the game, and I always ended up dying at that second black mage boss after the village... And then I managed to beat him. Damn, what a game.

Burmecia was the first city attacked by Queen Brahne but by the time you get there most of the defenders had already been slaughtered by black mages. It was a very dark moment in FFIX and made me want to shoot the Queen in the face.
