Christian Deism uses portions of the New Testament as philosophy. Are you saying philosophy is not allowed in Deism? Christian Deists don't generally claim Jesus as a prophet.
@iDeist You are just re-working Deism to your own definition. There were lots of people in the 1700s who considered themselves both Christians and Deists. Thomas Jefferson was inspired by the moral teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.
@NewVinland no, I am not. they are contradictory terms. the same as one cant be a married bachelor. sorry, I just have a brain. thomas jefferson carried a bible with every occurance of the name "Jesus" scratched out. Very inspired indeed.
Christian Deism, is about as compatible, as a theist atheist. Religionist, want to keep their superstition, and they want the science, which is opposed to faith, and is tangible, unlike the religions. These beliefs, without evidence lead to hypocrisy, which spawns, the radicals of today.
I like your candid stance on Jesus and you think he was a liar and lunatic and you don't give passive approval to him like most (the reaction he never received during his life & ministry) but Jesus did say a little more than just "I am the f#%*ing son of God, come and follow me".
Have you ever studied any scholarly literature on the historical Jesus, his message and core ethic? There is a reason why many give him the thumbs up who even hate Christianity. Have you really studied Him?
Well dude from this video you seem like a Deist version of TheAmazingAtheist so I am not sure if I want t learn from you even though you seem interesting, maybe try NOT offending so much Christians who might be interested in Deism. Your obviously trying to convert people, because what else is the point of making these videos? So I suggest you try to atleast sound appealing instead of like TheAmazingAtheist which is an anti-theist douchebag.
just cause the Bible shows some moral truths doesn't mean those truths can't be associated with Jesus.. since Christianity comes from it. it doesn't mean you label Jesus as God.. maybe you associate it as Jesus being one of the first people to understand what deism meant.. "the kingdom of God is within you, and all around you" - Jesus Christ..
what if you call yourself a philosophical deist.. based on you understanding the world in a philosophical sense. dealing with polarities and things of that nature. would that be ok? cause i really don't understand why you have such a gripe against Jesus. like the oldest complete bible is around 1600 y/o. how do you know what's what for sure about who Jesus was and said, what about the idea of Jesus as a good person?
The rage in your videos reminds me of a deist version of theamazingatheist. I'd actually love tos ee a dialogue between you two, lol!
Anyways, I completely agree with you. Keep it up!
{oh and, it'd be cool to see you as a person in some vids and maybe some actions goin on or a background, long videos where it's just a voice are cool, but hard to pay attention to for more than a couple minutes}.
as an anti-theistic agnostic-deist, I approve your message :)
@iDeist Good job! LOL. You kindof sound like christian slater when he was starring in 'pump up the volume.'
But seriously. What happens if mankind makes it to type 1 status, and we're still stuck with lots of religous people? Think of it: Christian and muslim fanatics, flying around in space, with asteroids they can use as missiles. That would be a pretty major war right there.
I don't mind someone say they are a Christian atheist. I know what they mean. Sympathies for Christian culture and don't believe in God. I'm not so stubborn with language. I let it flow and relax and take in what they mean instead of getting hick-ups and stall the conversation on unimportant issues. At least I try to do that. I was like you before, and still am a little :)
@Censeo Well stated. I see Christian Deism as a bridge toward reasoned belief in God. Consider how Constantine mixed parts of Christianity and Paganism to ensure the general masses accepted Christianity as the State religion. There is a lesson here. IMO, Deists need to be strategic about our approach.
@iDeismFounder My strategy is reason. I will believe in all the gods that I will find reason to believe in, and my goal is that all others will do just that as well... in other words... they think for themselves. If they do that, I will never be concerned if they draw a different conclusion than I.
@Censeo Brilliant! My only fear is being too caustic with those on the edge, even when their logic is not "pure." If they want to call themselves a Christian-Deist (meaning they believe in God based on reason but admire the "higher" teachings of Jesus) then I am okay with that perspective. Over time, I think, they will move toward reason.

And STOP pretending to be humble.
"I could be completely wrong."
You are. And you insult the hell out of me for saying so.
You do not tell call Jesus a F**king douchebag.
Pull the speck out of your eye.
He did not call himself God.
We're ALL sons of God, not just Him.
At least fundamentalist assholes have a excuse for their idiocy, YOU have NONE.

Dude, there are so many schools of Christianity that it's impossible for Christianity to necessarily be exclusive to anything else.
You are self-admittedly close minded.
Why are you blaming Jesus for ANYTHING if his followers wrote his books?
Don't strawman people's motives.

Awesome vdeo. One of my favorite videos on Deism so far. I don't know why you don't got more views your videos are great.
