@QWERTY32451 the reason they are sticking with the wii name is because they are going to integrate the wii technology with the new wii u. There will be motion games still (hopefully zelda sticks to motion plus sword fighting), and the new controller will be used for HD sports games and others.
Uh look at some other videos. Wii u will support hard core games. I mean really. Assassins creed, ghost hunters. I'm not much of a hard core gamer, but wii is old. 8 years ago, shooting games and such weren't as big as they are today. Cry-engine is a software engine that was developed for multiple platforms. If it can run on the 360 is can be ran on Wii U. The difference is the gpu can handle the dx10 and dx11 like textures. Which is the primary performance enhancer for the WII U. The ps3 has a similar cpu throughput. The 50% performance was compared to the current 360 as well from the information I read. Remember that the cry-engine is not hardware related, but a software library more of less. Hope that helps.

@Vincentius90 Difference being the small amount that could be held on the disks for the GC meant you couldn't load a big game with lots of textures. So most the games didn't look good on the GC verse the PS2.

I seen the first games of wii u. In THQ Darksiders II and Aliens Colonial Marines ps3 push more graphics than wii u, xbox 360. Everyone who seen the shared games in ps3 and wii u notice all the demos looks better in ps3 and equal in wii u, xbox 360. The wii u is another dreamcast. When ps2 go out to market dreamcast go obsolete. Wii u cant push more graphics than ps3 yet, when ps4, xbox next gen go out to market wii u will be struggle against ps3 and 360. Wii u is an obsolete next gen console.
@flamableproductions PS3 and 360 are running on 6 and 7 year old technology respectively. It took 7 years to get on par with SEVENTH gen systems. Keep in mind that this is an EIGHTH gen system. Sony and Microsoft have yet to debut their systems, if any, for the 8th generation. It's pretty much a no brainer that the next PS and Xbox will be significantly more powerful than the WiiU. Nintendo is a dinosaur and needs to follow Sega. Stop making hardware, just make software...
@Centium76 I have a Wii, XBOX360, PS3 and an i7 with 20g RAM and two Nvidia gtx590's; which is weird, because I do have a life outside of gaming haha. Anyways, the Wii in my opinion is total shit. I just gave the thing to my 10 year old brother. The PS3 has marginally better specs than the 360, but its not as noticable as playing the same game on PC; in which case you will see a significant increase in detail and less blur/shading. PS3 has really good exclusive games tho ^^

The only real difference was that Nintendo wanted to tap into the casual gaming market, and by doing so, gain more fans. By putting a lot of power into the Wii U, Nintendo has opened itself up for third party devs, and they've also retained the casual gamers they picked up with the Wii. We will see a lot of good games and more people will get hooked on them. Better than COD every two months.

@YourPalHDee Saying they are nearly identical in performance is a huge misconception. Even considering the xbox is was released a year before PS3, the PS3 is just better. For starters, they don't die easily. Had my PS3 for 4 years or so, outlived 3 of my brothers Xbox 360's. PS3 can also output full 1080p on a some games that support it while most are 720p, but the xbox can only do 720p and upscales most games. As for Graphics and whatnot, *cough cough* Final Fantasy 13 :P
@Benjy2Delta Wrong on all - Yellow Light of Doom proves that the PS3 had overheating issues, too - not to the scale of the 360, sure, but not invulnerable at all. Also, while most games OUTPUT at 720 on the PS3, most of those are RENDERED at 540p. Take into consideration the fact that any 360 with an HDMI port can output 1080p, and that whole sentence was wrong. Finally, every multiplat pretty much outside of FF13 (crap game, btw) looks better on the 360 because the RAM is set up better.
None of that made sense. You can't render in a resolution that isn't displayed on screen. FF13 was a great game. Most multi platform games from 2009 onward look better on ps3. And there is no such thing as "ram being set up better". and that yellow light shit is what, 2% occurrence versus 33%? get off it fool
I'd like to see any of these game consoles compare to my i7 extreme processor with two nvidia gtx 590's and 24 g of RAM. Oh and 2 Tera hardrive. If they ever do make something like this, then I'll know its time to get two new video cards and rape them consoles again! :D

Dude, if the PS3 is already 50% more powerful than the Xbox 360, and if the Wii U is 50% more powerful than the PS3 I don't think it will be that big of a difference. I mean look at the 360 vs PS3 graphically not really much of a difference. And now that the next gen Xbox is only 20% more powerful than the Wii U, it won't be that much powerful. I think gaming has almost reached it's peak.

I seen the first games of wii u. In THQ Darksiders II and Aliens Colonial Marines ps3 push more graphics than wii u, xbox 360. Everyone who seen the shared games in ps3 and wii u notice all the demos looks better in ps3 and equal in wii u, xbox 360. The wii u is another dreamcast. When ps2 go out to market dreamcast go obsolete. Wii u cant push more graphics than ps3 yet, when ps4, xbox next gen go out to market wii u will be struggle against ps3 and 360. Wii u is an obsolete next gen console.

@flamableproductions PS3 and 360 are running on 6 and 7 year old technology respectively. It took 7 years to get on par with SEVENTH gen systems. Keep in mind that this is an EIGHTH gen system. Sony and Microsoft have yet to debut their systems, if any, for the 8th generation. It's pretty much a no brainer that the next PS and Xbox will be significantly more powerful than the WiiU. Nintendo is a dinosaur and needs to follow Sega. Stop making hardware, just make software...

@Centium76 I have a Wii, XBOX360, PS3 and an i7 with 20g RAM and two Nvidia gtx590's; which is weird, because I do have a life outside of gaming haha. Anyways, the Wii in my opinion is total shit. I just gave the thing to my 10 year old brother. The PS3 has marginally better specs than the 360, but its not as noticable as playing the same game on PC; in which case you will see a significant increase in detail and less blur/shading. PS3 has really good exclusive games tho ^^

I think this is sumthing Nintendo is aiming at, but doesnt actually have it yet, think bout this, the PS3 has Cell chip, that was Nasa's old processors they used in their Mission control and sold on open markets, of which Sony became a buyer. That processor, devs cant even handle using it now. Sony hav estimated the PS3 will last up to 10yrs, before they even get rnd to making a new console. And Im not fanboy cus I hav a wii, I think you'll find Nintendo will focus more on the actual controller.

@chill2477 The Wii has great games and many good games. So do the other consoles, and of course the PC. The only real difference was that Nintendo wanted to tap into the casual gaming market, and by doing so, gain more fans. By putting a lot of power into the Wii U, Nintendo has opened itself up for third party devs, and they've also retained the casual gamers they picked up with the Wii. We will see a lot of good games and more people will get hooked on them. Better than COD every two months.

@YourPalHDee Saying they are nearly identical in performance is a huge misconception. Even considering the xbox is was released a year before PS3, the PS3 is just better. For starters, they don't die easily. Had my PS3 for 4 years or so, outlived 3 of my brothers Xbox 360's. PS3 can also output full 1080p on a some games that support it while most are 720p, but the xbox can only do 720p and upscales most games. As for Graphics and whatnot, *cough cough* Final Fantasy 13 :P

@Benjy2Delta Wrong on all - Yellow Light of Doom proves that the PS3 had overheating issues, too - not to the scale of the 360, sure, but not invulnerable at all. Also, while most games OUTPUT at 720 on the PS3, most of those are RENDERED at 540p. Take into consideration the fact that any 360 with an HDMI port can output 1080p, and that whole sentence was wrong. Finally, every multiplat pretty much outside of FF13 (crap game, btw) looks better on the 360 because the RAM is set up better.
