i agree rbbroper, cayman your totally wrong the flank strap doesn't injure the horse it only irritates them because its positioned on a place most horses get irritated quickly so that the buck easier, i train horses and even without a flankstrap its hard to stay on the back sometimes. ( im not an american so sorry for the bad english )
