I'll be turning 59 in August. MUST listen to it again then. Brought back many happy memories. I watched Casey from the 50s to the 70s. Got to hear him announcing up here on a radio station in the Brainerd Lakes area before he died.
i grew up in new hope and use to have a carnival for cassyey , was so much fun and yes my birthday felt so special hearing my name!, thanks for the memories
I really appreciate this post. He used to sing one chorus of this and then read the names of all the birthday boys and girls as they scrolled on the screen. Provided your mom and dad had sent your name in to Casey!
Casey picked me up and held me one day at Excelsior Amusement Park. He signed a photo for me. I thought he was the conductor of all trains in town when I was little.
Onions, onions! la la la! onions, onions la la la! ........ walkin in my winter underwear! Carmen the Nurse! the "Be a friend" song.... For if you want a friend you have to BEEEEEEEEE one! lol. I heart Casey, Roundhouse and Carmen the Nurse.
Fond memories. The goal of my sister and I was to have our lunch ready in time to watch Casey Jones. I still remember the skit Roundhouse Rodney did with his face made up while up-side-down. Oh, and can't forget the painted faces on the hands.
Lynn Dwyer, better known as Roundhouse Rodney went to our church (St. George's - St. Louis Park - Minnetonka Blvd and Highway #100). He would always make sure that the kids from Sunday school had their name on the scroll at the end of the birthday song. I would see mine every year!!!! Thanks Casey and Roundhouse for all the great memories!!!!!
At the time of his death in the fall of 1976, roundhouse was making a comeback on channel 2, with both old and new material.Wish it would be put out on dvd.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this! I grew up in Anoka during the 50's and Casey Jones and Roundhouse Rodney were required watching! Anyone else remember Vivian Vance, the Witch?! I was over the moon when I met Casey and got his signature at Paul Bunyon town..and that was as an adult! I sing this song every single year to all my family members; it's become a tradition we can't live without. So grateful that you put it out there for the world to enjoy.

I grew up only about a block away from Roundhouse Rodney. My brother went to school with his son. I used to knock on his door just to say "hi" Roundhouse loved us kids and never got sick of us, or never let us know he did anyway! Yes it was a shock when he went. At least he went fast.
This man is a LEGEND in Twin Cities television. I was fortunate to meet Casey at a Rainbow Foods store in the western suburbs of Mpls. years ago, just before he passed away. And yes, Roundhouse Rodney passed away from a brain anurisum many years ago. Ioved watching them as a child. I am now a member of SONS OF THE DESSERT -Blockheads tent (Laurel and Hardy fan club) and we just sang Casey's Birthday song for one of the members having a birthday- it was fun to sing again.
I was able to enjoy the last 7 years of casey on the tube, before the anti child advertising crowd drove him off the air.The team could still have done another near 4 years of shows. I shed a tear the day I heard roundhouse died,33 years ago now..
I love this video, this is so great to see this again, after a gazillion years have passed.....thank you to whoever put this up here, it's just been a treat for me, to trip or skip down memory lane!!!
Casey (Roger Awsumb) was a favorite among kids and his relaxed style and friendly smile meant that you were always welcome. There'll never be another one like him!

Who remembers the promo bits they did for "Frontier Town" It was located in East Bethel. The remains are still lingering there today.

I got Casey's autograph at Har Mar Mall one time in about 1965. He was a little bit - how shall I put this? - under the weather at the time.
