this was the best match i had ever seen........i've seen a lot of matches, including nadal/federer, borg/mac, agassi/sampras............when i think of the two greatest matches (as far as clean ball striking and nothing between the two) i think of this one and nadal/federer 2008 wimbledon.......borg/mac is right there as well, but this one is in that group
I love those 'down-low' backhands from Lendl. Despite his reputation for being a robot he could hit a nice shot with great angles. I wonder which one was better on carpet... it's very close. McEnroe was another indoor master. Lendl at his peak may have been the best indoors - in 1987 he beat Wilander in the Masters final and Mats just couldn't believe how well Lendl played, basically just saying that there was no way Lendl could keep it up. He was right.
