My group had three dolphins, one was a baby in training named Yushi the other two were Coral and Capricorn. Discovery Cove was beautiful, the stingrays and snorkeling was my favorite part. I enjoyed the dolphin swimming by Vallarta Adventures in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico much more though. It was cheaper, a better experience, and for a little bit more money you can do a sea lion swim which was the coolest thing ever!
You missed the point... swimming with wild Dolphins poses no respiratory threat but with captive Dolphins they're subjected to swimming in their own chlorinated filth, for example over 50% of all captive Orca deaths are from respiratory bacterial infections. Horns and Stingers are natural defenses but bacterial problems are clearly not.
Thanks for the health alert....I've also heard that bee keepers have higher incidents of bee stings, that people who play with bulls some times get the horns and that some times when you lay down with dogs you wake up with fleas.....I still love my dog though....
You and your family have inspired me to spend a day there when I come over to America! And it's almost a stone's throw from where I will begin my trip - the Brockway Truck Preservation Association annual Truck Show in Cortland, NY!
i am going to florida on saturday and my life long dream is to swim with dolphins and last year i didnt get to go but this year i am going to discovery cove on the very last day of my holidays to swim with dolphins and i really caint wait x
This should not be encouraged. It shortens the life of the dophins to have them living in captivity and it's not healthy for them to live that way, not being able to use their sonar or hunt live fish or swim for miles and miles! Free these wonderful, beautiful creatures! Humans are so ignorant!!!!
terrific video....we're going in june...our visit to the cove is scheduled for the 22nd... and a "little" surprise for our aspiring 13 year old marine biologist dolphin lover is her trainer for a day!!
i have recently booked to go to discovery cove for december and i cant wait to swim with the dolphans its one of the things i wanna do in my life that and sky diving to go along with the other stuff i have done
i really enjoyed this video. I love learning about sea life..I hope i can see a real dolphin one day. I want to so bad but i want to see them in their natural habitat and not a place they keep them captivated. lol anyways nice video :)
mending heart, your inclination to see them in the wild is a correct one. Go on a whale watch. You will often see dophins in their natural habitat on a whale watch. I don't care for this video because it feeds into the idea of capturing a wonderful animal for human amusement.
Thank you for posting this! We didn't do this last time we went to Orlando. We were planning on doing it this year, but we weren't exactly sure if it was worth the price. It definitely looks like an amazing experience!
Picture being at an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean. White sand beaches, all you can eat meals, and an open bar. Then throw in pools where sting rays swim by your feet and fish swim through your legs. There is a huge cave to swim through, waterfalls to play under, and of-course, a half hour with the dolphins. By far it was the best time we had in Florida. A total relaxing and magical day.

Respiratory diseases were also reported in nearly a fifth
of marine mammal workers, including diseases such as
TB. Exposure to marine mammals can
involve a health risk to people working with the animals,
but it can also threaten the health of the public. In an internationally distributed survey of people who
come into contact with marine mammals (primarily
those who work with these animals), 23 % of
respondents reported contracting a skin rash or similar
ailment. Naomi A. Rose PhD -2006

That's not true!
the average age of bottle-nose dolphin's 20 or less..
At discovery cove they can get a lot older, like 40.
But I agree with you that they belong in the wild.
Still, I loved swimming with these beautiful creatures.
And it looked like they were having fun too..
