@francisGish A valid question. I won't go as far as to say you have a "point", because you failed to provide a causal link between diet and low average age at which our ancestors die. In your defense: most of this "our ancestors did x and y" is educated guess work at best, and there's no reason to assume that the diets of our ancestors were optimal for their bodies, let alone our own.
Mate you are doing it wrong, if you want to drop kilos, you need a high fat moderate protein diet. That means things like sausages(sugar free), eggs, bacon, cheese, butter. Of course you need to add in the non starch veggies as well. Fat is actually okay when you are restricting carbs because your body and brain use it for energy when carbs are not available.
this those work amazing just dont eat anything with hight carbohydrates i lost over 50 pounds with this diet and running alot now im starting to lift weights
Hi from sweden ! I wanted to say its a great video ! :) And am not eating meat anymore because of the lack of protein campare to proteinshakes , its like 28 grams and thats about 125 gram of chicken. And i get a clean colon when not using to much food on my diet. Iam trying to be over 1500 kcals, I got a question about calorie shifting ? does that work or is it a scam ? Why does the biggest loser contestens only consume 1250 cals a day and still losing fat. Iam muscler , but i need to lose some
Sorry to burst you're bubble, But are you a nutritionist? People have different body types Fast, slow & meduim oxidizers. One diet does not fit all. Example, why do some vergetarians are healthy while some cannot sustain and look sick?, why do some people crave carbs while others crave protein?
It's called Metabolic type.
I'm just sick of all these random one sided quick fixes and advices, in which might help some, but also could harm another .
your body physically cannot store fat without insulin, everyone saying go low fat is stupid and uneducated. fat is responsible for every hormone in the body like testosterone and growth hormone why wouldn't you want to fuel your body properly to produce these hormones? why do you think bodybuilders before a contest cut out carb? I'm going to guess because you lose the most fat and preserve the most muscle that way. very good video its unbelievable how many people still think low fat is healthy.
You need a macro cycle of 20% essential fats 30% carbs coming from complex and low-glycemic foods, and 50% protein to ensure positive nitrogen balance and promote the smallest amount of muscle loss when cutting. Then you have to know your BMR and cut your calories 300 every 7-10 days to constantly keep your body in a calorie deficit. Lastly, you need to do your cardio staying in about 65% of your MHR zone after weightraining, 3, 4, 5, and eventually everyday a week for 30 minutes 4 results.
I think you're missing the point. Excess carbs absolutley DO get converted and stored as fat. With alcohol, it changes to Acceltate (spelling) at 8 calories/gram . So if you add food when you drink even zero carb beer, that food goes straight to the fat tanks while body fuels from Acceltate. Orange Juice is very fattening, even though it contains no fat initially. The sugars that flood the bloodstream have no where to go in the short run and hence the conversion to fat starts.
@zagan Wrong, he is not thinking that carbs=fat. He's just saying a carb meal will turn to fat if your muscles don't need the glycogen. And if you lose muscle mass because of dieting then what's left of them (the muscles) will require even less glycogen. I agree with you that the body prefers carbs for energy over fat, (likes alcohol best, that's why when you drink and eat carbs you really get fat) but - as you know - the body is preprogrammed to get get fat anyway- it comes from instinct.
carbs don't turn into fat, your body simply dumps excess carbs, if you eat enough carbs for your body and you eat fat as well, your body will store the fat and doesn't need to burn the fat off.
alcohol beer is full of carbs, but it slows down your metabolism so when you again eat those fatty crips or food your body will store the fat and the carbs from the beer is used for energy so never needs to use the fat.
only chicks bodies are programmed to have 5 to 10% fat for babies
I'm not a dietation but I've been looking up on this stuff for the last 10 years, learning stuff mainly for myself.
A lot of people generally get the stuff half right etc, like I have seen on current affair tv shows where someone is talking about the atkins diet, calling chicken fatty foods when it's not fatty it's protein foods and your trying to replace carbs with protein.
That sort of diet generally only works for fat people because they already have the carbs due to the fat stores.
@zagan1 Sorry, dude, but you've been getting wrong info. Carbs DO turn into fat if your body does not use them, it is just the way our body stores energy. If you think about it, the way our body works makes sence if we were animals in the wild.
@xenoepist Carbs couldn't turn into fat as your body is always chewing them up as they are the bodies #1 energy, protein is ok and fat is way way last in fact your body never goes out of it's way to use up fat as energy, so eat enough carbs and you have any fat with those carbs, that fat will never be used and your body will store that fat rather than use it, thus making you fat.
Wild animals chew up heaps of carbs and always doing stuff so when they run out, they use up protein or fat.
@zagan1 My point exactly, if your body does not use those carbs, they DO turn into fat.But simple carbs break up too quick producing excess energy that your body does not consume,
carbs turn into glucose (pure sugar) which turn into Glycogen which gets in your muscles, have no Glycogen in your muscles and they won't work anymore, go for a run and the burn you feel is the Glycogen running out.
The fat in the cake, won't get used up. because the body doesn't need it, as the carbs have that covered for energy thus the fat in the cake will be stored as fat and kept for when don't have enough Glycogen and need energy quick.
until all is clear on carbs, i just stick to eating vegatables fruits and fish daily and exercise either a 5k run home work out , or football. i fill fitter then ever
this man is not very well educated. he is sharing partial information based on what he took from a book that may or may not beneficial. He doesnt know that the whole grains and good carbs are not stored as fat when eaten in moderation. Do not post videos on youtube with information that could mess up someones life unless you are fully prepared to support the data you provide, broaden your knowledge and then come back to youtube, thanks.
He may not be educated the way you would like him to be, but he is correct in what he says. He has apparently broken free of the propaganda going around against fats and for dangerously fattening
starches and sugars. I hope he posts more videos. The only thing he may "mess up" is the hold that the propaganda has on some one's mind.
We are making ourselves fatter, and sicker, and more prone to heart diseases by eating high carbs. There is PLENTY out there to read to support this.
i know a better way !,, eat like a horse , ride your bike 20km a day to work and back, then pump weights like a man possessed ! i guarentee you'll be a fit buff cunt in 6 months !
One factor about carbs. Concentrate more on complex carbs, like whole wheats, fruits and vegetables, and less on simple carbs, like white bread/pasta, junk food, candy, etc.
Just came across your video. I started the low carbohydrate diet some 4 years ago after trying high carbohydrate diets like LOW GI. I gradually lost 10 Kg of fat, from 80 Kg to 70 Kg over a year period. I have maintained my weight at 68 to 70 Kg for the last 3 years. I am never hungry as I use to get eating excess carbohydrate- no massive swings in blood glucose levels with low carbohydrate.
Don't get hooked by the Glycemic Index. Essentially it is a meaningless concept which is now outdated.
Note, low carb diets are for fat loss, not bulking up. Carbs are needed if you want to get some gains, so eat some fruit and shit. But do not get carried away. When the carbs are gone, there is no glycogen, which is what the body puts out from carbs and its prefered source of energy. When it is gone, the body crashes until it is ready to dip into fat. This can and will effect your workout. The first couple of days you can barely get through it. You will, but never as effecient as a carb diet.
"When protein intake exceeds about 95 grams per day, the body goes into negative mineral balance because of high acidity. With an intake of 140 gm, there is a mean loss of 60 mg of calcium per day, regardless of the amount of calcium ingested." Horne, Chapter 15, Diet and Nutrition.
So if u eat nothing else all day, a 12 oz steak, some mashed potatoes and asparagus in just 1 typical, unhealthy meal would exceed that 95g protein/day threshold and cause bone resorption.
undertaker6102005:-:Muscle tissue catabolism for energy??? NOWHERE DID I SAY MUSCLE CATBOLISM FOR ENERGY, THATS CRAZY. Do you guys know how much difficult this is?After the body has first burned all of its glucogen stores, then it burns stored fat for energy and when fat stores are not enough... THE PROCESS FOR ENERGY IS CARBS: FIRST - WHAT YOU EAT. MUSCLE PROTEIN: THE GLUCOGEN IN THE MUSCLE-THATS SECOND.. LAST IS FAT CELLS:
Need to cut back to 3 days of cardio and 3 days of lifting. Or you can just rotate lifting, cardio depending on how many days you work out. Secondly, avoid just running or cycling. It will get boring and not very effecient. Try intervals and high intensity routines. They are aerobic and anaerobic. When you are anaerobic the growth hormones start pumping and promote major fat loss. But you need to be sure you are eating, and eating more than just protein drinks. Do some research away from youtube
Muscle tissue catabolism for energy??? Do you guys know how much difficult this is?After the body has first burned all of its glucogen stores, then it burns stored fat for energy and when fat stores are not enough, then muscle catabolism occurs as an emergency state.People who are already very low in fat% or/and eat very few calories may have a problem of muscle catabolism.Internet/supplement comp. made people to be afraid of muscle catabolism,so people consume more and more protein.
(Finally)when BBing the cutting cycle has no carbs and mega protein and shit loads of fat burners, thats how we get ripped. Its not easy but its the way it gets done.
(part 3) I think I need to be a bit clearer, i don't want and one miss understanding what I mean... Protein for the body helps build muscle, there is a supplement called glutamine which protects the muscle from being used as energy. the body then has no choice but to convert BF into energy, because of the low carbs, the first energy source is gone, glutamine protect the muscle, the last source is body fat.. thats the reason for the High protein low fat low carbs.
(part 2) The point of the high protein and low fat & carbs, is to aid in fat while protecting muscle, the formulae is more muscles = more cals burnt = more fat burnt =leaner, stronger you. WHY? because the body gets it's energy from carbs first, protein second (normally muscle protein, found in the muscle) body fat last, so by having a low carb, high protein , protein is to protect the muscle (somewhat) low carb will force the body to take from the 3rd resource BF for energy.
(PART 1)LOL i was glad some could follow that. There no difference really between the 2 high or the low, apart from the intensity, studies have proven by far the resistance training (weights, strength training) burns more BF than cardio, and continues to do so up to 30 minutes after weight session is finished. By all means cardio is important, I personally do minimum of 40 minutes low intensity in the morning on an empty stomach and then strength training.
(PT 0) undercovamum what the fuck you on, fat people does retain flabby skin if they lose weight. That IS just ignorant. High protein low fat and low carb diet does work for stripping fat, you don't live on the diet, low carb diet, is talking all the wrong carbs, there good complex carbs people can eat. Everyone tends to think high protein and low carb low
(PT3) But if you put hardcore cardio (treadmill for 30-40 minutes 3 - 5 times per week, YES you will lose weight (bodyfat)... guys got some good points, but the high protein low fat and low carbs diet, does work in conjunction with a good training routine, but its not forever.. (that also depends on if your BBing).
(PT2) *kotsujay* (reducing your calorie intake only works for a short time) It only works for a short time because "reducing your calorie intake" is only half of it, example: if you "reducing your calorie intake" and do nothing, sit at home all day, sit in the office walk to the shop for one pie instead of three, then YES; it does not work.
fat diet thing, means, just eat protein. That's wrong, carbs a good morning to midday, thats about it, as your day come to a close (night time - bedtime) should cut out the carbs, because un-used carbs gets stored in the body as fat cells while you sleep. Metabolism slows down at night. (PT1)
detox diet=just dont be pigs and live to eat dont eat live to,hell most of the idiots who are obese are that ay because they simply eat too much of anything, balance is the key asin any thing fats+acids=balanced out body, poofle victims of society its in the mind your either able body andmind or not simpleb butwhat do you doif you lose like 100kgs what about the left over skin etc yukkkkkkk, goodluck but it will only go back to FAT BODY
Excellent points made in your video Jason. The years since the concept of "low fat" was introduced into our foods with low fat cakes, cookies and snacks has done nothing to reduce the overweight issues we face.
The body needs certain proteins for repairing the internal organs. If your internal organs don't have the protein and sugars it needs it will consume muscle and fat. That way fuel and protein is being supplied for the organs while the fuel being burned is reduce. You really need a good balance of protein and carbs. 4 proteins to 1 carb is usually a good bet. Maybe add 1 portion of fat too. But be careful with fat. Be careful the type of fat you consume can hurt you too. Not all fats are bad.
also, as you said protein is obviously rgeat for muscle development and actually has a higher thermic effect, meaning you burn more calories while injesting. When you include healthy fats, do not eat at the same time you eat carbs, (i.e. post workout) because of that insulin spike you explained, which will suck in more fat. will be interesting to see your results. good luck!
Your on the right track mate. The thing is, even on a low carb diet, fruit and veg are still carbs. so ultimately, a high portein diet is pretty much the paleo diet, which has proven to be great for weightloss, and a lack of fibre is not an issue like people think (because of the lack of grains).
I've had people tell me that drastically reducing your calorie intake only works for a short time and, in the long run, actually makes it much harder to get rid of fat. It took me all year to finally believe that.
Wow, that's probably the strangest body type I've ever seen...

You are thinking carbs is fat and that's wrong.
Fat has 9kj where as carbs and protein is only 4kj each per gram you eat.
You want some fat but not heaps.
if you eat a high protein/low carb diet you'll need to eat heaps of protein as it becomes the replacement for carbs.
carbs are the base energy for the body remove them and you'll never really get slim because your body doesn't like using fat for energy.
Sugars has always been in heaps of stuff, fruit has sugar in it, milk is 80% sugar.

xenoepist 1 year ago
@zagan1 the excess energy turns into fat. like this:
Eat slice of cake or you ate too much on your plate with healthy foods.
1) Blood sugar spike from carbohydrate overload
2)Pancreas reacts
3)Pancreas creates Insulin, but too much insulin from carbohydrate overload or refined carbohydrate like cake or a cookie or white potato.
xenoepist 1 year ago
@xenoepist lol, what's also in a cake fat.
carbs turn into glucose (pure sugar) which turn into Glycogen which gets in your muscles, have no Glycogen in your muscles and they won't work anymore, go for a run and the burn you feel is the Glycogen running out.
The fat in the cake, won't get used up. because the body doesn't need it, as the carbs have that covered for energy thus the fat in the cake will be stored as fat and kept for when don't have enough Glycogen and need energy quick.
zagan1 1 year ago
@xenoepist
Taking your example,
If the cake had
10g carbs = 40kj
10g fat = 90kj
So you'll have 90kj of unused kj's that will never get used, unless you workout to force your body into using them at some point.
Protein helps to repair muscles and while it can be a source of energy it's still second to carbs.
It's extremely easy to understand there's no need to go looking for data it's been worked out for decades.
The insulin spike is due to the sugar as your talking about fast carbs.
zagan1 1 year ago
@zagan1 4)This high insulin spike causes the liver to produce too many triglycerides. Triglycerides are fat in the blood.
5)Triglycerides cause fat stores which cause the hanging fat on the body. They form fat cells.
I could site sources, but youtube won't let me... sorry :(

WHY? because the body gets it's energy from carbs first, protein second (normally muscle protein, found in the muscle) body fat last, so by having a low carb, high protein , protein is to protect the muscle (somewhat) low carb will force the body to take from the 3rd resource BF for energy.

Weight training also keeps your metabolism elevated for up to 15-16 hours.

InkdHard 3 years ago
(PT3) But if you put hardcore cardio (treadmill for 30-40 minutes 3 - 5 times per week, YES you will lose weight (bodyfat)... guys got some good points, but the high protein low fat and low carbs diet, does work in conjunction with a good training routine, but its not forever.. (that also depends on if your BBing).

I agree but you should make the cardio high intensity.

(PT1)

Thanks for all of you info...I am excited about our challenge.

Excellent points made in your video Jason. The years since the concept of "low fat" was introduced into our foods with low fat cakes, cookies and snacks has done nothing to reduce the overweight issues we face.

So why does the body prefer converting muscle to energy instead of fat?
HinesBrad 3 years ago
The body needs certain proteins for repairing the internal organs. If your internal organs don't have the protein and sugars it needs it will consume muscle and fat. That way fuel and protein is being supplied for the organs while the fuel being burned is reduce. You really need a good balance of protein and carbs. 4 proteins to 1 carb is usually a good bet. Maybe add 1 portion of fat too. But be careful with fat. Be careful the type of fat you consume can hurt you too. Not all fats are bad.

Could you supply us with a menu of things you plan on eating or sample meals per day? What caloric number are you trying to hit?
HinesBrad 3 years ago
also, as you said protein is obviously rgeat for muscle development and actually has a higher thermic effect, meaning you burn more calories while injesting. When you include healthy fats, do not eat at the same time you eat carbs, (i.e. post workout) because of that insulin spike you explained, which will suck in more fat. will be interesting to see your results. good luck!

Your on the right track mate. The thing is, even on a low carb diet, fruit and veg are still carbs. so ultimately, a high portein diet is pretty much the paleo diet, which has proven to be great for weightloss, and a lack of fibre is not an issue like people think (because of the lack of grains).
thumbnugget1000 3 years ago
I've had people tell me that drastically reducing your calorie intake only works for a short time and, in the long run, actually makes it much harder to get rid of fat. It took me all year to finally believe that.
